EAST RIDGE WENT UP AGAINST MINNETONKA IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 19, East Ridge squared off against Minnetonka in a boys’ basketball game.

Minnetonka started out playing man-to-man defense. East Ridge also started out in man-to-man defense.


Minnetonka looked to score layups in transition.


East Ridge called a timeout with 14:22 left in the first half. The score was Minnetonka 14, East Ridge 7.

East Ridge looked to get the ball into the hands of Sid Thomes and Seth Green. Both of which were able to get to the lane and make layups.

Minnetonka’s Amar Miller led the offense. He called out what plays that he wanted ran and was able to communicate that with his teammates.  

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a huge run.

Minnetonka was able to score baskets in transition.

Tomes did a good job of getting the ball down the floor and getting his teammates involved in the offense.

Miller was able to get to the basket and make layups.

Green came up with a one handed slam dunk that got his team motivated.

The score remained close late in the first half.

Minnetonka went to a full man-to-man trapping defense then switched to a zone defense if they couldn’t get a turn over.

East Ridge called a timeout with 3:35 left in the first half. The score was Minnetonka 36, East Ridge 35.

East Ridge wasn’t able to slow Minnetonka down in transition. As a result Minnetonka came up with some huge baskets late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Minnetonka 50, East Ridge 40.

East Ridge was able to make layups and jump shots with ease to start the second half.  Minnetonka came out flat, it took them awhile to get their shooting touch back.

East Ridge continued to get the ball into the hands of Thomes. Thomes received a technical foul for yelling after a layup with just over 12 minutes left in the second half.

East Ridge called a timeout with 9:51 left in the first half. The score was East Ridge 67, Minnetonka 62.

Minnetonka came up with jump shots and layups throughout the second half.

East Ridge continued to shoot the ball well late in the game.

Minnetonka called a timeout with 1:39 left in regulation. The score was East Ridge 87, Minnetonka 76.

Both teams continued to hit shots late in the game. Minnetonka got a couple of steals and came up with layups late. Minnetonka’s Evan Altenburg and Justin Moses both came up with huge baskets on the offensive end.

East Ridge got the lead midway through the second half and held onto it. East Ridge came up with the 92-82 victory over Minnetonka.

The leading scorer for East Ridge was Thomes with 28 points.

The leading scorers for Minnetonka were Altenburg with 33 points, and Moses with 23 points.
