MESABI RANGE WENT UP AGAINST RAINY RIVER IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On March 1 Mesabi Range and Rainy River squared off in a men’s basketball game.

Both teams started in zone defense. Rainy River looked to take time off the shot clock as they passed the ball around the 3-point line.

Rainy River came up with layups and mid-range jump shots, they were able to get pas thet Mesabi Range defense.

Mesabi Range did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around and looked to take good shots.

The score went back and forth midway through the first half. There were several ties and lead changes.

Mesabi Range’s Kiewane Crodwer was able to get past the defense and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. The defense had a hard time slowing him down. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could shoot it.

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half. Both teams were evenly matched in the first half.

The Rainy River defense had a hard time slowing Crowder down. He came up with huge shots late in the first half that kept Rainy River in the game.  

At halftime the score was Rainy River 34, Mesabi Range 33.

Rainy River started the second half in zone defense. They played zone mostly throughout the first half as well.

Rainy River stepped up their defensive intensity. They talked more on screens and were able to come up with steals.

Rainy River was able set the tempo in the second half. The guards Ahmad Poche and Samuel Stirgus both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

Mesabi Range looked to shoot 3-point baskets in the second half. If they thought that they could make the long shot they weren’t afraid to shoot it. Both teams went after the rebound.

Rainy Rivers Jammere Carlisle came up with 3 straight personal fouls. He kept his cool as he tried to plead his case to the official but to no luck. He stayed in the game.

Mesabi Range came up with some huge baskets on the offensive end late in the contest. They were able to come up with stops on the defensive end.

Mesabi Range came away with the 89-79 victory over Rainy River. 

The leading scorers for Rainy River were Carlisle with 19 points, Strigus with 16 points and Poche with 11 points.

The leading scorers for Mesabi Range were Crowder with 25 points and Ken Manigat with 19 points.
