OSSEO TOOK ON WAYZATA IN A HIGH SCHOOL SECTION 5AAAAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Osseo traveled to Wayzata for the section 5AAAAA  football final game. The winner of the game goes to the Minnesota State High School League state tournament and the loosing team’s season is over.

Wayzata kicked off to Osseo to start the game. Osseo started on the 22 yard line. They kept the ball on the ground. They were able to get the ball to Bridgeport Tusler. On fourth down Osseo looked to punt the ball.

Wayzata got the ball back. They looked to use both the running attack and the passing attack to keep Osseo off track. Wayzata was not able to get a first down and they punted the ball back to Osseo. Brigdge Tusler ran the kickoff 81 yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

Osseo got the ball back and they kept the ball into the hands of Bridgeport Tusler. DJ Herbert went to the air and found his receiver. Osseo punted the ball on fourth down.

At the end of the first quarter the score was Osseo 7 and Wayzata 0.

Wayzata got the ball to start the second quarter. Jeff Borchardt caught a pass for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. With 11:43 left in the second quarter the score was tied at 7.

Wayzata kicked off after the touchdown. Osseo looked to pound the ball on the ground throughout the first half.

Osseo called a timeout with 10:16 left in the second quarter.

DJ Hebert looked deep and was not able to get a first down. They punted the ball and Wayzata recovered it and it was a safety. With the safety the score was Wayzata 9 and Osseo 7.

Osseo kicked off after the safety. Wayzata went deep and Ethan Zeidler came up with a nice reception for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 8:11 to go in the second quarter the score was Wayzata 16 and Osseo 7.

Wayzata kicked off after the touchdown. Wayzata stepped up their defense and was able to slow down the Osseo offense. Osseo punted on fourth down and 15 to go.

Wayzata got the ball back. They were able to get the ball into the hands of their running backs. Antonio Ford was able to get some nice yards on some nice runs for Wayzata. Wayzata was not able to get a first down and tuned the ball over to Osseo.

Osseo punted on fourth down and five yards to go.

Nick Martin for Wayzata made a nice run late in the half.

Osseo called a timeout with 43.8 seconds left in the second quarter.

Nick Martin found Jeff Borchardt in the end zone for a touchdown for Wayzata. The extra point attempt was good.

At halftime the score was Wayzata 23 and Osseo 7.

Wayzata got the ball to start the third quarter. Wayzata did a good job of trying to move the ball down the field. They were not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball to Osseo.

Osseo had to punt the ball to Wayzata on their first possession of the third quarter. 

Wayzata looked to pound the ball down the carpet. Wayzata had success running the ball.

Osseo was able to get a first down. Wayzata's defense stepped up big and was able to slow down the Osseo defense.

Wayzata got the ball on the 23 yard line. Antonio Ford made a nice run for a touchdown. There was a holding call on Wayzata on the play so the touchdown didn't count. Wayzata tried a field goal but it was not successful.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Wayzata 23 and Osseo 7.

Wayzata got the ball to start the fourth quarter.

Wayzata called a timeout with 10:35 left in the fourth quarter. Antonio Ford for Wayzata picked up some major yardage. Antonio Ford ran in for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With that touchdown the score was Wayzata 30 and Osseo 7.

Osseo tried to move the ball down the field. They had to punt the ball back on fourth down.

Osseo got the ball back after they were able to receive it on fourth down. Osseo fumbled the ball and Wayzata got the ball. Wayzata fumbled the ball and Osseo got it.

Wayzata called a timeout with 6:24 left in regulation.

Wayzata came away with the 30-7 victory over Osseo. With that victory Wayzata advances to the 2011 Minnesota State High School League state tournament.

OSSEO TOOK ON CENTENNIAL IN A FOOTBALL GAME


In my first game of the 2011 Minnesota high school football season, I headed north on interstate 35W to Centennial High School. They met Osseo for a football game.

Osseo kicked off to Centennial to open up the 2011 high school football season. This was the first game for either team.

Centennial got the ball to open the game. Centennial used both the air and the running game early on. They wanted to keep Osseo thinking when Centennial was on offense.

Centennial got the ball into the hands of Michael Diggins. Diggins was able to get come big yardage and get a first down.

Centennial took a timeout with 8:53 with the score tied at 0.

Osseo was able to get to the Centennial quarterback Evan Ostergren early and often in the first quarter.

Centennial was able to chew up a lot of time and yards on their first drive of the game. Centennial attempted a field goal with 3:00 left in the first quarter. The field goal was good.

With 3:00 left in the first quarter the score was Centennial 3 and Osseo 0.

Osseo got the ball for the first time in the game with 2:58 left in the first quarter.

Osseo was able to get the ball into the hands of DJ Hebert. Hebert got the ball out of his hands early in the pocket. He was able to find his receivers. Hebert fumbled the ball with 9.5 seconds left in the first quarter and Centennial took over on their own 15 yard line.

Centennial got the ball back and they looked to get the ball into the end zone late in the first quarter.

After the first quarter the score was Centennial 3 and Osseo 0.

Centennial got the ball to start the second quarter. Osseo was able to blitz well though out the first half. They didn't have any problem getting to the Centennial quarterback. Centennial had to punt the ball back to Osseo with 9:37 left in the second quarter.

Osseo got the ball on the Centennial 23 yard line. Osseo was able to get into the endzone. Brigde Tusler scored a touchdown with 8:39 left in the second quarter. Alex Enrnisse scored the extra point. With 8:39 left in the scored quarter the score was Osseo 7 and Centennial 3.

Centennial got the ball back after the Osseo touchdown. Centennial kept the ball on the ground as they worked on their ground game. They thought that they were a little quicker then Osseo. Centennial was not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball to Osseo.

Osseo continued pound the ball on the ground. Osseo looked at many different ways of getting the ball down the field.

DJ Hebert kept the ball late in the half. He was able to get some major yardage. He got the ball to the five yard line. And then scored a touchdown on a five yard run. Bridge Tusler two point conversion run was good. With 1:35 left in the second quarter the score was Osseo 15 and Centennial 3.

Centennial tied the game as Josh Dewit scored a touchdown with no time on the clock the extra point attempt was good.

In a wild first half where Centennial chewed a lot of time off the clock, the score at halftime was Osseo 15 and Centennial 3.

Centennial kicked off to Osseo to start the third quarter. Osseo had a lot of trouble with a lot of mistakes on their first drive in the quarter. They had to punt the ball back to Centennial with 10:20 in the third quarter.

Centennial continued to use both the air attack and the ground attack throughout the third quarter. They were able to pin Osseo deep in their territory.

Osseo had trouble holding on to the ball. Centennial got the ball back with 7:55 left in the third quarter. Centennial threatened to score midway through the third quarter.

Ben LaMear scored a touchdown with 7:04 left in the third quarter for Centennial. The extra point was not good. With 7:04 left in the third quarter the score was Centennial 16 and Osseo 15.

Osseo got the ball back after the Centennial touchdown.

Osseo continued to look to get the ball into DJ Hebert's hands. Hebert was all over the field. He knew where his teammates were and was able to get the ball to them if he got into trouble.

Centennial got the ball back and Josh DeWitt came up with a big catch for Centennial. He was able to get them into the red zone.

Osseo stepped up on the defensive end. They were able to get to the Centennial quarterback and made them had to put the ball back to Osseo.

Osseo got the ball back with 1:40 left in the third quarter.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Centennial 16 and Osseo 15.

Osseo got the ball to start the fourth quarter. They continued to keep the ball on the ground. Osseo looked to score with about 9 minutes left in regulation.

Bridge Tuler scored a touchdown with 9:02 left in regulation. The two point conversion was not good.

With 9:02 left in regulation the score was Osseo 21 and Centennial 16.

Centennial got the ball back after the Osseo touchdown.

Centennial went deep and was able to get deep into Osseo territory. They looked to score again midway through the fourth quarter.

Centennial threatened to score with 6:00 left in regulation. Centennial went to a hurry up offense. Ben LaMere scored a touchdown with 5:20 left in regulation. The two point conversion was good.

With 5:20 left in regulation the score was Centennial 24 and Osseo 21.

Osseo's Tim Searcy ran the kickoff back for a touchdown on the next play. The extra point attempt was good.

With 5:06 left in regulation the score was Osseo 28 and Centennial 24.

Osseo kicked the ball back to Centennial after the touchdown.

Ben Lemear scored a touchdown with 3:42 left in regulation for Centennial. The extra point attempt was good. With 3:42 left in regulation the score was Centennial 31 and Osseo 28.

Tim Searcy scored a touchdown for Osseo with 3:03 left in regulation. The extra point attempt was good. With 3:03 left in regulation the score was Osseo 35 and Centennial 31.

Centennial got the ball back after the touchdown. They got the ball deep in their zone. Centennial continued to look to the end zone late in the contest.

Centennial did find the end zone, Ben LaMere came up with a touchdown reception with 1:05 left in regulation. The extra point attempt was no good.

With 1:05 left in regulation the score was Centennial 37 and Osseo 35.

Centennial kicked off to Osseo after the touch down. Osseo was not able to do any thing with the ball on the final drive.

In a wild game Centennial came away with the 37-35 victory over Osseo. I thought that both teams played well in a very wild and fun game.

After the game I was able to talk to Centennial head coach Mike Diggins about the victory. He thought that even though his team is young and inexperienced his team stepped up when they hand to. He though that Ben LeMere played one of the best games that he was seen some one play.

THE WAYZATA TROJANS HOSTED THE OSSEO ORIOLES IN THE REGION FOOTBALL FINAL


The Wayzata Trojans took on the Osseo Orioles in the football region 5AAAAA final game. Osseo had a record of 7-2 coming into the game. Wayzata came into the game with a record of 7-0.


Osseo kicked off to Wayzata to begin the game. Wayzata started the ball on the 20-yard line. Mitch Underhill got a first down. They kept the ball on the ground on their first drive.


Wayzata was not able to convert on fourth down and Osseo got the ball.


Osseo got the ball after the punt. Darren James Hebert looked to pass the ball. Wayzata’s defense stepped up and was able to stop Osseo. Osseo had to punt the ball to Wayzata.


Sasha Dorn the quarterback for Wayzata had to get the ball away quickly because the Osseo’s defense was able to get off the ball and they went after Sasha Dorn. He was able to find to Quardy Hamplin near the end zone.


Sasha Dorn found Zach Miller in the end zone for a Wayzata touchdown. The extra point was good. With 6:40 left to go in the first quarter the score was Wayzata 7 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata kicked the ball back to Osseo after the touchdown. Darren James Hebert kept the ball and was able to get a first down. Osseo used both the pass game and the run game in the first quarter. There was a penalty on Wayzata and that gave Osseo the first down. On the next series Osseo was not able to get a first down and they turned the ball over to Wayzata.


Wayzata looked to get the ball into Aaron Roth’s hands. Mitch Underhill had a 49 yard touchdown run as the first quarter came to the end. The extra point attempt was good.


At the end of the first quarter the score was Wayzata 14 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata kicked off to Osseo to begin the second quarter. Osseo’s quarterback Darren James Hebert was 2-7 in his throws in the first quarter. Osseo had to punt the ball back to Wayzata.


Sasha Dorn was back at the quarterback spot. Wayzata looked to the ground game as they wanted to get a first down on the ground. Aaron Roth Wayzata’s running back was able to come up with some nice runs in the first half. They were able to get first downs on their short drives. Osseo’s defense also was able to stop Wayzata and that gave Osseo the ball back.


Osseo’s Darren James Hebert was sacked on fourth down. They had to punt the ball back to Wayzata.


Wayzata was not able to convert on third down and they had to kick the ball back to Osseo. Osseo got the ball on the 20-yard line.


Osseo wanted to try to air the ball out. Darren James Hebert had a hard time finding his receivers. Osseo had to punt the ball back to Wayzata.


Wayzata got the ball and they were able to grind out to short yardage on third down. Mitch Underhill was able to plow through the defense and was able to gain a first down. Nick Martin the backup quarterback to Wayzata looked for Patrick Nelson. Nick Martin was able to find Aaron Roth near the two yard line. Nick Martin scored a touchdown as time expired. The extra point attempt was good.


At halftime the score was Wayzata 21 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata kicked off to Osseo to begin the third quarter. Osseo kept the ball on the ground. Darren James Hebert was still in at quarterback. He was not able to complete his passes in the early goings. Osseo had to kick the ball back to Wayzata. Sasha Doran was back in as quarterback. Mitch Uderhill got the ball and was able to get the ball to the 1 yard line. Mitch Underhill scored a 1 yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.


With 10:29 left to go in the score was Wayzata 28 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata kicked the ball to Osseo after the touchdown.


Darren James Hebert was under pressure most of the night. Wayzata’s defense was able to get to him in the game.


Osseo was not able to get a first down and Wayzata was able to come away with the football. Wayzata’s Patrick Nelson received a 44 yard touchdown reception with 2:02 left to go in the third quarter. The extra point attempt was good kick good.


With 2:02 left to go in the third quarter the score was Wayzata 35 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata kicked off the ball to Osseo after the touchdown. Osseo looked deep late in the quarter. They looked to get a first down and they were successful on getting first downs late in the quarter. Jack Vettel picked off Darren James Hebert to end the third quarter.


At the end of the third quarter the score was Wayzata 35 and Osseo 0.


Wayzata got the ball to begin the fourth quarter. Wayzata was not able to get a first down. They turned the ball back over to Osseo.


Wayzata came away with the 35-0 victory over Osseo.


After the game I was able to talk to Wayzata’s quarterbacks Sasha Doran and Nick Martin about the game. I was also able to talk to Wayzata’s head coach Brad Anderson about the game.

OSSEO TOOK ON ROBBINSDALE COOPER IN A REGION 5AAAAA FOOTBALL GAME


In a regional football semifinal game Osseo went up against Robbinsdale Cooper. Cooper had a record of 6-3 going into the game and Osseo had a record of 6-2. Osseo was the 2nd seed in the region.


Cooper kicked off to Osseo to begin the game. Osseo started with the ball on the 41-yard line. Samual Conner got a 37 yard touchdown run. The extra point was good.


With 11:14 left in the first quarter the score was Osseo 7 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the Osseo touchdown. Cooper looked to keep the ball on the ground. Cooper was not able to convert on third down and they punted the ball to Osseo.


Osseo got the ball on the 49-yard line. Osseo’s quarterback Darren James Hebert was able to hook up with Joey Sonnenfield for an Osseo touchdown. The extra point was no good.


With 7:33 left to go in the first quarter the score was Osseo 13 and Cooper 0.


Cooper received the ball after the Osseo touchdown. Cooper got the ball on the 29-yard line. Osseo switched up there passing and running routs in the first quarter. Cooper was again was not able to convert on third down, so they had to punt the ball back to Osseo.


Osseo got the ball on their 42 yard line. Cooper’s defense stepped up and they were able to slow Osseo down. Osseo didn’t like what they saw on the field so they burned there first time out of the game with 5:12 left in the first quarter.


Darren James Hebert got his passing game going as Jameer Jackson game up with a big reception for a first down. On fourth down Cooper jumped off sides and that gave Osseo the automatic first down. With 2:40 left in the first quarter Darren James Hebert found Conner for a touchdown for Osseo. The extra point was not good.


With 2:40 left to go in the first quarter the score was Osseo 19 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the touchdown. Cooper got the ball on the 21 yard line. Cooper was picked off by Tyler Sis with 1:45 left in the first quarter.


Osseo got into the red zone. Darren James Hebert kept the ball on fourth down and was able to get a first down. With 26 seconds left Darren James Hebert found Joey Sonnefeld for an 11 yard touchdown. The two point conversion was good. With 26 seconds the score was Osseo 27 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the Osseo touchdown. Osseo got the ball on the 15 yard line.


At the end of the first quarter the score was Osseo 27 and Cooper 0.


Cooper got the ball to begin the second quarter. Cooper looked to go in the air in the second quarter. Their offense sputtered in the first quarter. Cooper had to punt the ball to Osseo as they were not able to get a first down.


Osseo got the ball back and he found Jameer Jackson and he had a 32 yard completion and with 11:03 left in the second quarter Darren James Hebert scored on a 1 yard touchdown run. The two point conversion was no good. There was a penalty on the play. Cooper had a penalty on the plan so Osseo tried the attempt again. On the two point conversion was no good.


With 11:03 left to go in the second quarter the score was Osseo 33 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the touchdown. Osseo got the ball on the on the 32-yard line. Osseo’s quarterback Darren James Hebert came in and played a little bit of defense. He was in there to break up passes on certain plays. Cooper punted the ball back to Osseo.


They got the ball back on the 30 yard line. Darren James Hebert fumbled the ball and Cooper recovered the ball.


Cooper got the ball back and they went long. They were not able to complete passes. Osseo was able to stop Cooper on downs and they were able to get the ball back.


Osseo’s Darren James Hebert found Joey Sonnenfeld down the field and they came up with a huge play. Osseo was plagued with penalties midway through the second quarter. Will Johnson came up with a big reception for a first down. Darren James Hebert found Joey Sonnenfeld for a 39 yard touchdown reception. The extra point was good.


The score with 6:53 left to go in the second quarter the score was Osseo 40 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the touchdown. Cooper kept the ball on the ground. Cooper got a first down as Tevin Wooten received a nice catch. It was the first, first down of the game for Cooper. Cooper’s quarterback Antwan Moon who has been all over the field went down hard and was tended to by trainers with 4:33 left to go in the second quarter. Brennan Macon came in as quarterback to replace Antwan Moon. They were not able to come up with the first down and they had to punt the ball to Osseo.


Osseo got the ball back and they looked to keep the ball on the ground. Darren James Hebert was able to find his receivers as they were able to get another first down. Osseo threatened to score again late in the quarter. Will Johnson fumbled the football for Osseo in the end zone on third down. There were offsetting penalties. Osseo attempted a 23 yard field goal attempt the attempt was good.


With 5.2 seconds left in the second quarter the score was Osseo 43 and Cooper 0.


In a half that had been up and down the field Osseo had a 43-0 lead at halftime.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper to begin the third quarter. Cooper got the ball to being the quarter. The Cooper quarterback fumbled the ball and Osseo received it. Osseo brought their second string players in to begin the half. With 10:47 left in the third quarter Tyler Stomback received a pass for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.


With 10:47 left in the third quarter the score was Osseo 50 and Cooper 0.


Osseo kicked off to Cooper after the touchdown. Cooper started with the ball on the 20-yard line. Cooper wanted to get their offense going; they were not able to do that in the first half. They were not able to convert on fourth down. Osseo took over on downs.


Osseo got the ball on their 31 yard line. They were not able to convert on third down and they had to punt the ball to Cooper.


Cooper wanted to keep the clock running when they had the ball. Osseo’s Adam Hammer picked off Cooper with 5:45 left to go in the third quarter. Dominic Rucker for Cooper was able to pick off a pass to give Cooper the ball back.


Cooper kept the ball on the ground late in the third quarter. Cooper was not able to gain a first down and they turned the ball over to Osseo.


At the end of the third quarter the score was Osseo 50 and Cooper 0.


Coopers Leroy Tayor was able to pick off an Osseo reception to give Cooper the ball back.


Cooper went long midway through the fourth quarter. They were not able to convert on fourth down and had to punt it back to Osseo.


Osseo’s Tyler Stromback came up with a big reception to bring the ball to the 10-yard line. Osseo looked to score late in the game.


In a game that was wide open from the beginning Osseo came away with the 50-0 victory over Robbinsdale Cooper.


After the game I was able to talk to Osseo head coach Darrin Lamker and quarterback Darren James Hebert about the game.
