MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN TOOK ON ROSEVILLE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

Minneapolis Washburn and Roseville went up against each other in a boys non-conference basketball game.

 

Both teams got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor looking for fast break baskets.

 

Roseville’s Kyler Briggity was all over the floor. He found his mid-range jump shot and was able to shoot the ball well in the first half.

 

There were many ties and lead changes in the first half. Neither team went on a run. The defensive pressure made it difficult for anyone to get an uncontested look at the basket.

 

Washburn’s Jeff Jones brought the ball down the floor and was able to get everyone involved in the offense. Jones was able to get George Clark the ball on the low block and Clark was able to make layups from there.

 

Washburn called a timeout with 10:46 left in the first half. The score was Roseville 16, Washburn 15.

 

Roseville did a good job of moving the ball down the floor. They were able to get past the Washburn defenders and make their mid-range jump shots.

 

Washburn was not afraid to shoot deep three-point shots. Roseville did a good job of boxing out.

 

Roseville called a timeout with 6:23 left in the first half.  The score was Roseville 27, Washburn 26.

 

Briggity got hot late in the first half. He hit several shots to keep Roseville in the game. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could make shots.

 

At halftime the score was tied at 42.

 

Washburn’s George Clark came up with some nice shots from the wing. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Roseville started the second half in a zone defense. They wanted to make Washburn take long three-point shots. Washburn did just that. Garvis came up with some nice offensive rebounds and he took it right back to the basket for layups.

 

The score continued to go back and forth throughout the second half.

 

Washburn’s JoBreil Powell came up with some nice layups in the second half. With Powell attacking the basket Washburn stayed in the game.

 

Roseville’s Jasper Horsted came alive in the second half. He got hot with in the paint. Horsted took

the ball hard to the basket and was able to come away with layups.

 

Roseville got hot late in regulation. The score with 1:02 left was Roseville 72, Washburn 69.

 

Washburn went to a man-to-man defense and looked to trap Roseville. Roseville tried to pass the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock.

 

Roseville came away with the 74-72 victory over Washburn.

 

The leading scorers for Roseville were Horsted with 25 and Briggity with 16.

 

The leading scorers for Washburn were Powell with 20 and Clark with 15.

 

MINNETONKA TOOK ON ROSEVILLE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

Minnetonka and Roseville went up against each other in a boys basketball game. The score went back and forth early.

 

His teammates knew where he was on the floor and they were able to get him the ball where he could make his shots.

 

Minnetonka ran the court well and was able to make baskets in transition.  They passed the ball around the three-point line as they were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

 

Minnetonka’s Delshon Strickland was all over the floor. He stepped up big as he knocked down some big shots midway through the first half.  On the defensive end Strickland was able to slow down the

guy that he was guarding.

 

Roseville attacked the basket and they looked to get good shots in their offense but the Minnetonka defense made it difficult for them to get open looks at the basket.

 

At halftime the score was Minnetonka 46, Roseville 34.

 

Gardner continued to shoot the ball well in the second half.

 

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. There were many jump balls throughout the game.

 

Roseville’s Derek Magnuson came up with some nice jump shots. His teammates gave him the ball on the elbow and he was able to knock down his jumper.

 

Roseville’s Kyler Briggity scored tied the score at 59 with just over 8:00 left in the second half.

 

The score continued to go back and forth late in the second half. Briggity stepped behind the three-point line and was able to drain shots. The defense couldn’t slow him down.

 

The score went back and forth late in the contest. Minnetonka’s Mitch Felknor scored a layup with 3.7 seconds to give them a two point lead. That was the game winner. Minnetonka came away with the 87-85 victory over Roseville.

 

Minnetonka was lead in scoring by Careino Gurley with 22 points. Roseville’s Gardner finished with 22 points as well.
