According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, “Taylor was a three-year letter winner for the Gophers and member of the 1971-72 team that won the Big Ten championship. He played 51 games for Minnesota, finishing his career with averages of 3.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.”

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “He is often remembered for his role in the infamous Gophers/Ohio State brawl in 1972, which started when Taylor kneed Ohio State’s Luke Witte in the groin.”
