SIMLEY HIGH SCHOOL WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME

The Simley High School boys' basketball team traveled to Richfield High School for a boys' basketball game. Going into the game Simley had a record of 7-17 and Richfield's record was 13-10.

Richfield won the toss. On the first offensive series they looked to get a quick open shot. They were not able to get the basket.

Simley started in a zone defense. Each team looked to set the tempo in their favor.

Richfield looked to get the ball into Shawn Ray Bear's hands. Bear was all over the floor on both ends of the could.

Richfield's guard Lorenzo Evans ran the offense. He directed players on the court and told them where he wanted them to go.

Deshawn Jones for Richfield came up with some key steals on the defensive end. He was able to score baskets off steals.

It took a while for each team to get into the offensive flow. Neither team hit shots early.

Simley passed the ball around the three-point line to set up their offense.

Bear was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. He was able to drop some nice three-point shots.

Simley took a timeout with 11:59 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 16 and Simley 10.

Simley switched between man-to-man and zone defense. They wanted to confuse Richfield.

Jared Noonan for Richfield came up with some nice shots. He was also not afraid to shoot the ball. Dan Beyel was able to beat his man off the dribble and had a few nice lay-ups in the first half.

Simley called a timeout with 9:12 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 26 and Simley 10.

Simley went on a run midway through the first half. They were able to score some easy baskets in transition.

Richfield called a timeout with 7:30 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 26 Simley 18.

Simley spread the ball around and every one shot the ball.

Wibi MacDonald got into the game with 6:52 left in the first half. MacDonald was able to slow down his man. MacDonald mostly guarded Rashaun Baxter.

MacDonald left with 4:26 left in the first half. He returned with 3:54 left in the first half. MacDonald played hard on both ends of the floor. He did a good job of getting back on defense. He was subbed out with 2:00 left in the first half. Then he got back in with 57 seconds left in the first half and was out with 34.4 seconds.

At halftime the score was Richfield 46 and Simley 30.

Both teams looked to get back into the scoring column early in the second half.

Simley took a timeout with 16:49 left in the second half. The score was Richfield 48 and Simley 34.

Simley's Connor Wells found his shooting touch. He was on fire. Richfield was not able to slow him down.

Both teams shot the ball quickly in transition. Neither team took a lot of time off the clock.

MacDonald returned to the game with 12:49 left in regulation.

Simley called a time out with 12:26 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 62 and Simley 38.

MacDonald picked up his second foul with 11:03 left in regulation. He kept on playing hard. He looked like he twisted his ankle. He was taken out with 10:10 left in regulation.

Richfield called a timeout with 8:00 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 70 and Simley 52.

Simley didn't back down. They kept on fighting throughout the game. Richfield was just a little quicker and they were able to hit shots.

MacDonald got back into the game late in the second half. He continued to make his defenders pay for the pressure he applied to them on the defensive end. He subbed back out with 2:16 left in regulation.

Richfield came away with the 92-61 hard fought victory over Simley.

The leading scorer for Simley was Connor Wells with 14 points. The leading scorers for Richfield were Jared Noonan with 21 points and Shawn Ray Bear with 14 points.

TARTAN TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

The Tartan Titans took on the Richfield High School Spartans in a boys' basketball game at Richfield High School.

Richfield won the tip and the game was underway. Richfield set up their offense. They looked to pass the ball around the three-point line. They usually looked to get the ball into Shawn Ray Bear's hands or Jared Noonan's hands and they both shot the ball.

Bear was all over the floor. On the offensive end he shouted instructions on where his teammates were supposed to be on the court.

Tartan looked to get the ball into the hands of Darrion Strong. Strong was their floor general. He shouted out plays and directed his team on the offensive end.

Tartan called a timeout with 14:45 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 6 and Tartan 4.

Tartan's center Brody Jackson was all over the rebounds on both ends of the floor. Whenever anyone shot the ball he would go up and get the ball.

Richfield ran a motion offense. They were able to get some easy layups in the first half.

Strong was not afraid to shoot the ball. If strong thought that he had a good shot and his teammates were not open he would shoot the ball. His teammates got him the ball in spots where they thought that he could make it.

Tartan went on a run midway through the first half. Richfield went cold. Richfield didn't panic. They kept on shooting the ball.

Mitch Grohs for Tartan got a nice back door basket that gave his team energy.

The pressure that the Tartan guards were applying troubled the Richfield guards. Tartan guarded well.

Richfield took advantage of fast break opportunities. Deshawn Jones had a nice two handed slam dunk on a fast break. Richfield also looked to get layups in transition.

Richfield went on a run late in the first half. Tartan went cold shooting. Then Richfield got and Tartan headed up to end the half.

Tartan switched between man-to-man and zone defense in the first half. Richfield used mostly man-to-man defense but was not also afraid go zone at times.

At halftime the score was Tartan 31 and Richfield 18.

Richfield looked to push the ball down the court and get easy baskets in transition to start the second half.

Strong continued to lead the offensive fire power for Tartan. Strong was to quick for some of the Richfield guards to handle. 
 
Tartan called a timeout with 15:07 left in regulation. The score was Tartan 37 and Richfield 24.

Jackson used a nice spin move on the low block to get by his defenders and score easy layups.

Richfield hung around. They didn't give up or back down. They just couldn't get any of their shots to drop.

Wibi MacDonald got into the game with just under 11 minutes in regulation. MacDonald was all over the court. On the offensive end he looked for his shot. On the defensive end he was able to slow down the guy he was defending.

Strong played well throughout the whole game. He shot the ball well. I thought that Strong did a good job of setting the tempo for his team.

Richfield made a run late in the game.

Darrion Strong looked like he twisted his left ankle with 2:24 left in regulation and was out for the rest of the game.

In a game of runs Tartan held on and beat Richfield by the final score of 71-67.

HOLY FAMILY TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN A BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME

Holy Family Catholic High School took on Richfield High School in a boys' varsity basketball game. Holy Family came into the game with a record of 0-1. Richfield also came into the game with a record of 0-1.

Both teams came out playing aggressively. They both dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds.

Richfield point guard Shawn Ray Bear handled the ball well. He knew where his teammates were on the court and passed them the ball when they were open.

Holy Family took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the three-point line and waited until they found the shot that they wanted and then took it.

Wibisono Marjonio MacDonald got into the game and was able to stay with his defender and slow him down.

Richfield played mostly man-to-man defense. Holy Family switched between man-to-man and zone defense. They wanted to keep Richfield guessing on what kind of defense they were playing.

Holy Family looked to score baskets in transition. They were able to do get some easy baskets.

Holy Family took a timeout with 6:36 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 21 and Holy Family 11.

Richfield's Jamal Wilburn took the ball strong to the basket. He was able to get some open looks to at the basket.

Richfield switch between man-to-man and zone defense late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Richfield 35 and Holy Family 20.

Richfield started the second half playing man-to-man defense.

Richfield head coach Omar McMillan didn't like what he saw on the floor so Richfield called a timeout with 16:52 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 39 and Holy Family 22.

Holy Family continued to have trouble shooting the ball. They didn't give up and kept on shooting even though they were not getting their shots to fall.

Bear kept on driving to the lane and he was able to make his free throws when he got to the line.

MacDonald kept on shooting three-point shots. He was able to get a few of them to fall.

Richfield held the ball as they looked to stall with about 7:00 left.

Richfield called a timeout with 5:06 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 64 and Holy Family 47.

Richfield was able to ware down Holy Family. Richfield was a little quicker than Holy Family. I thought that both teams played hard throughout the game. Richfield came away with the 73-59 victory over Holy Family.

Richfield was led in scoring by Shawn Ray Bear with 23 points, Erik Jimson with 14 points, Deshawn
Jones, Wibisono Marjonio MacDonald with 9 points each, and Jared Noonan with 8 points.

Holy Family was lead in scoring by Jake Dryer with 21 points, Joe Traxler with 16 points, and Joe Hannel with 9 points.

WACONIA TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN A BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME

Waconia traveled to Richfield for a boys' basketball game. It was the opening game for both of these teams.

Richfield's point guard Shawn Ray Bear brought the ball down the court.

Richfield came out on fire. Waconia called a 30 second timeout with 16:57 on the clock. Richfield came out with an 8-0 run.

Richfield's Deshawn Jones came up with a dunk that gave his team some energy.

Waconia called a timeout with 14:53 on the clock in the first half. The score was Richfield 13 and Waconia 0.

Richfield did a good job of passing the ball around the three-point line. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as they could.

Waconia went on a little bit of a run after the timeout.

Richfield called a 30 second timeout. The score was Richfield 19 and Waconia 7.

Wibi MacDonald came into the game.

Waconia went on a run after the timeout. Richfield was still able to hit some shots.

Richfield called a timeout with 7:51 on the clock. The score was Richfield 21 and Waconia 16.

Matt Rachey for Waconia was able to get his shot going. Waconia was able to get with in one of Richfield at 25-24 with 6:20 left and took the lead on an Alex Schmitt three-point shot.

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls.

Waconia continued to shoot the ball well late in the first half. Richfield continued to shoot the ball. They didn't get frustrated or down on themselves. They were able to get a few good fast break points in transition.

The pace of the game was very quick at the end of the first half. Both teams got the ball out of the net and were able to get the ball down to the other end very quickly.

Alex Schmitt nailed a three-point shot at the buzzer. The score at halftime was Waconia 43 and Richfield 32.

Waconia kept hitting their shots and continued their run at the start of the second half.

Richfield was able to get some shots to fall as they were able to go on a run.

Waconia called a time out with 14:26 left in regulation. The score was Waconia 47 and Richfield 42.

The score went back and forth through most of the second half.

Waconia continued to hit their shots. They got hot midway through the second half. Alex Schmitt really got his team going offensively as he couldn't miss.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the second half. I thought that both teams played well. There were a lot of players on the ground for both teams as they both went after loose balls and rebounds.

The game came down to the wire. Waconia came away with the 69-68 victory over Richfield.

The leading scorers for Richfield were Deshawn Jones and Erik Johnson with 14 each. Jared Noonan scored 12 points and Wibi MacDonald scored 2 points.

The leading scorers for Waconia were Matt Rachey with 18 points and Alex Schmitt with 19 points.

MINNESOTA HEAT TOOK ON MINNESOTA COMETS IN THE COMETS SPRING SHOOT OUT

The Minnesota Heat took on the Comets in the Comets Spring Shootout. The Minnesota Heat were
coached by Mark MacDonald who is my uncle. Wibi MacDonald also is on the team he is the son of
Mark. Wibi is my cousin.

The Comets started out the game in a zone defense. Minnesota Heat were able to break the press. Benji
Subah took the ball down the court at a lightning quick pace.

The Heat looked to set a quick pace of the game. After the Comets scored they got the ball out of the
net and brought it quickly down the court.

The Comets had a hard time hitting shots. They passed the ball around the three-point line to take as
much time as they could.

Davaghndre Jones for the Heat took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to draw contact and get to
the free throw line.

The Comets attacked the basket on the offensive end. They were not afraid of the pressure that the
heat were applying.

The score went back and forth for a good period of time in the first half as neither team went on a run.

MacDonald dove hard to the basket and was able to make his shots that he was putting up. He did a
good job of calling for the ball in spots where he knew where he had a good shot.

At halftime the score was tied at 23.

Both teams did a good job of getting the ball down the court and looking to score in transition.

Antoino Mcghee-Hatfield took the ball hard to the basket for the Heat. He knew when to shoot the ball
and where he was on the floor.

The Comets went on run midway through the second half. The Heat had a hard time making their shots.

Jared Noonan for the Heat took the ball hard to the basket. Even though some times he was out of
control he still took it hard to the basket.

The Comets were too much for the Heat. In the end the Comets came away with the 60-44 victory over
the Heat.

MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL CONTEST

The Minneapolis South Tigers took on the Richfield Spartans in a boys’ basketball contest. Both teams started out looking to push the ball down the court.

For South they looked to get the ball into Thomas Edison Ford’s and Mohammed Adbifatah Mohammed’s hands.

South started the game on fire as they were able to knock down quick shots from all over the court. There was nothing that Richfield could do. They did try to slow South down.

Richfield came alive though. They were able to go on a run and tie the game at 9 with 14:30 left in the first half.

Jared Noonan came off the bench and was able to step up and play good defense. He was able to slow down his defender. With 13:13 left to go in the first half Noonan picked up a technical foul for shoving his defender.

Wibisono Marjonio MacDonald came into the game with about 13:00 left to go. MacDonald took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to blow past his defenders and take it hard to the basket.

Richfield did a good job of taking the ball to the basket. South was aggressive on both ends of the court.

South’s pressure was able to get to Richfield. South was able to turn Richfield over and they were able to score.

Mohammed did a good job of getting the ball up the court for South. He was so quick with the ball he was able to blow by his defenders.

Both teams did a good job of running with the ball. They each wanted to get the ball out of the net and run with it.

The defense that was displayed by both teams was very good. Neither team gave up easy baskets in the first half.

Evans did a good job of getting the rebound and going up with it. He was able to get fouled and get to the line many times in the first half.

The pace was very quick late in the half as both teams looked to score baskets in transition. The score went back and forth late in the half.

At halftime the score was Minneapolis South 43 and Richfield 41.

As the second half got underway Richfield came out on fire. They were able to knock down their shots that they were putting up.

Deshawn Jones stepped for Richfield as he was able to knock down a few three point shots. That gave Richfield a 50-47 lead with 15:30 left to go in regulation.

Mohamed continued to work hard to get the ball in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball on the court. Mohamed was not afraid to drive hard to the basket.

For Richfield Shawn Ray Bear flew down the court with the ball. He was able to score baskets in transition.

The game was close midway through the second half. Then Richfield went on a run midway through the half.

MacDonald came back into the game and played well on the defensive end. He was all over his opponent.

Both teams traded baskets in the second half for a period of time.

Isaiah Wilson for South came off the bench and looked to launch three point shots. He was unsuccessful with the first three attempts he put up but was still determined to pull them.

Richfield pulled away with about 4:00 left to go in the contest. South was not able to make their shots down the stretch.

Noonan came to life late in the contest as he was able to hit his shots that he put up.

Richfield came away with the 96-68 victory over Minneapolis South.

I thought that Bear, MacDonald and Noonan all played well for Richfield. I also thought that Mohamed played well for South.

MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH TOOK ON RICHFIELD IN THE BOYS’ BASKETBALL JUNIOR VARSITY CONTEST

The Minneapolis South Tigers took on the Richfield Spartans in a boys’ basketball junior varsity game. The JV team was made up of mostly sophomores and juniors.
 

Both teams came out shooting the ball. They both were able to hit their shots early in the contest. The score went back and forth throughout the first half.

Richfield looked to get to get to ball into the hands of Wibisono Marjonio MacDonald’s hands. MacDonald was all over the court. His teammates looked for him to score.

With 11:30 left to go in the first half the score was Richfield 12 and Minneapolis South 8.

Richfield took their time on the offensive end. They were able to get the ball to their inside post players who would take it strong to the basket.

Both teams did a god job of shooting the ball in the first half.

Richfield went on a run with just 9:00 left to go. South didn’t back down. They kept on playing strong defense.

Richfield used a full court press. They were able to get South out of their rhythm. Richfield was able to score off of the steals that they were creating.

With 6:47 left to go in the first half the score was Richfield 22 and South 10.

MacDonald did a good job of trapping the ball on the defensive end. He was really able to go after his defender.

South was not able to make a basket for a period of time in the first half. Richfield was able to capitalize on that and they were able to score a few quick baskets.

With 3:06 left in the first half the score was Richfield 26 and South 12.

Richfield continued to shoot the ball well late in the half.

South went to a zone defense late in the half. They wanted to try to spread Richfield out.

At halftime the score was Richfield 30 and South 17.

As the second half got started both teams came out firing on all levels. Both teams really got after it as the defense stepped up on both ends of the floor.

South tried to trap Richfield when they reached half court. They were not able to get Richfield out of their offensive pattern.

MacDonald only played the first half of the game. Due to Minnesota High School League rules a basketball player is only allowed to play three halves in a night. MacDonald could play two halves of the varsity game. That is why he didn’t play in the second half.

Richfield continued to score easy baskets throughout the second half. They were able to come away with the 47-23 victory over Minneapolis South.

GET TO KNOW NICHOLAS WIBISONO MARDJONO MACDONALD


Nicholas Wibisono Mardjono MacDonald was born on September 30, 1993 at Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis.


Wibi, as he is known by relatives and friends, grew up in Indonesia for 3 years and the rest in Bloomington/Richfield, Minnesota.


Wibi is into sports at Richfield High School. He currently participates in cross country, basketball and track and field.


He has one sister. Wibi says “basketball is its life man, I mean it’s like a necessity in my family. Plus with my dad’s success I don't want to let him down”. His dad Mark MacDonald is a basketball coach at Minnesota Developmental Basketball in Bloomington, Minnesota.


Mark played a lot of basketball growing up and he coached overseas for a number of years.


“I am a straight A student. If you don't laugh at my jokes then there is something wrong with you. I love the family, especially my cousin Steven; he has G-status.”
