ERROL CARLSTROM PLAYAZ TOOK ON HIGH PERFORMANCE ACADEMY IN THE HOWARD PULLEY PRO CITY SUMMER LEAGUE

The Errol Carlstrom Playaz went up against the High Performance Academy the Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League. 

The game got off to a quick start as each team traded baskets.  

Tyus Robert Jones ran the High Performance Academy offense. He was able to run the offense and get everyone involved in the plays. Jones had very good court awareness and he knew where everyone was supposed to be on the floor. 

Errol Carlstrom Playaz went to a zone defense because they had a hard time guarding High Performance Academy. 

Cameron Rundles did a good job of guarding Jones. Those two Jones and Rundles battled each other on both ends of the floor. They made it hard for the other guy to shoot the ball. 

At the end of the first quarter the score was High Performance Academy 27 and Errol Carlstrom Playaz 23.

Errol Carlstrom Playaz swung the ball around the three-point line until everyone was in place and then they ran their offense. 

The score remand close throughout the second quarter. Neither team went on a run. 

Jones was able to make some nice lay-ups in the second quarter. If Jones didn't think that he had a good shot he would pass it to one of his teammates so they could make a good shot.  

At halftime the score was Errol Carlstrom Playaz 48 and High Performance Academy 44. 

As the third quarter got underway both teams came out on fire. They were jacking up shots from everywhere on the floor.  

The game was close and hard fought throughout the third quarter. Neither team went on a run. 

Quinton Lee Hooker came up with some nice moves as he and Jones had good chemistry when they were both on the floor at the same time.  They knew where they were on the floor at the same time.

Jefferson Mason came up with some good plays around the basket as he used his length to his advantage as he was taller then everyone so he was able to come up with the rebounds.

At the end of the third quarter the score was High Performance Academy 74 and Errol Carlstrom Playaz 76.

Renard Suggs played hard on both ends of the floor. He took the ball hard to the basket and on the defensive end was able to slow down his man.  

The game came down to the wire as each team traded baskets late in the contest.  

Suggs was able to shoot the ball from anywhere he wanted to on the floor. The other team had a hard time finding him and slowing him down.

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and both went after rebounds on both ends. Neither team gave up easy shots. 

The game was played with high intensity and emotion all throughout the game. 

Errol Carlstrom Playaz came away with the 95-94 victory. 

The leading scorers for Errol Carlstrom Playaz were Cameron Rundles with 25 points, Mitch Ohnsted with 18 points and Jefferson Mason with 15 points.  

The leading scorers for High Performance Center were Tyus Robert Jones with 18 points, Jamal Davis and Jake Wright each with 14 points and Renard Suggs with 11 points.  

FUNDEMENTLY SOUND ATHLETICS TOOK ON HIGH PERFORMANCE ACADEMY IN A SUMMER LEAGUE GAME

In the second game of the evening Fundamentally Sound Athletics took on High Performance Academy in a basketball game.

The game had a quick start as Fundamentally Sound Athletics was a little quicker and a little stronger. Rodney Williams who attends the University of Minnesota made some very nice slam dunks. He was all over the court. His teammates got him the ball by the basket for an easy slam dunk it or lay-up.

There were two brothers that played against each other. Siyani Chambers went up against his younger brother Kamali Chambers. Those two had fun guarding each other.

At the end of the first quarter the score was Fundamentally Sound Athletics 30 and High Performance Academy 16.

As the second half got underway Fundamentally Sound Athletics looked for their shots from inside the three-point line. They played under control throughout the game and the composure under pressure was one of their greatest assets.

High Performance Academy got the ball into the hands of Quinton Lee Hooker. Quinton was all over the floor he was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor if he thought that he had a good look. They did stay in the game emotionally they didn't let the score get to their heads as the score widened.

With a 19 point deficit starring them in the face, High Performance Academy called a timeout with 3:14 left in the second quarter. The score was Fundamentally Sound Athletics 49 and High Performance Academy 30.

David Hicks for Fundamentally Sound Athletics was able to get wide open layups. The other team didn't know how to handle his shooting capabilities.

At halftime the score was Fundamentally Sound Athletics 57 and High Performance Academy 36.
With a 21 point lead at half-time the fans were wondering if the game was going to remain a blow-out.

The second half got off to a quick start as each team launched shots at the basket. The shot clock was never a factor in the game. This was a run and gun up and down the court game similar to the old Loyola Marymount days under coach Westhead.

Hooker went hard after rebounds. He didn't get frustrated. Kamail Chambers also found his shot in the third quarter. He was athletic enough where he could stop on a dime and pull up and hit a 15 foot jump shot without even thinking about it.

Zack Lofton for Fundamentally Sound Athletics looked for his shot around the basket. He was a high jumper and had good coordination so he could maneuver with the ball in the air. The opponent closed the gap and were only down 7 points at the end of the third quarter.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Fundamentally Sound Athletics 78 and High Performance Academy 71.

As the fourth quarter got underway both teams continued to shoot the ball and kept going after loose balls and rebounds on both ends of the floor.

High Performance dug-in on the defensive end and manage to close the scoring gap within three-point's with 5:00 left in the third quarter. This was a very high scoring game. Despite the high scoring contest it appeared as though the teams played defense only when the needed to or wanted to play. Had High Performance Academy played tougher defense throughout the game the outcome may have been different.

Fundamentally Sound Athletics was just too quick for a lot younger High Performance Academy team and came away with a 22 point margin. In the end Fundamentally Sound Athletics came away with the 119-97 victory over High Performance Academy.

The leading scorers for Fundamentally Sound Athletics were Joe Coleman with 33 points, David Hicks with 27 points, Rodney Williams with 23 points and Siyani Chambers with 15 points.

The leading scorer for High Performance was Quinton Lee Hooker with 31 points.
