MINNESOTAN ROYCE WHITE TO OPEN A MENTAL HEALTH CLINIC FOR MEN

According to Charley Walters from the Pioneer Press “Royce White, the 2009 Mr. Basketball Minnesota at Hopkins, was in town this weekend and is headed soon to Houston, where he'll open in his name a free mental health clinic for men.

 

White, 22, a first-round draft pick by the Houston Rockets out of Iowa State two years ago, hasn't given up on basketball, although he was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers in training camp.

 

"I'm being patient and I'm optimistic and I'm weighing options," he said. "I've still got a lot of life to live."

 

Among options is returning to Iowa State to complete a degree in drama. He owns a record label he continues to work on. And he loves the Timberwolves.

 

"I grew up in the Kevin Garnett era, so that's my team," White said. Iowa State under coach Fred Hoiberg is off to a 14-3 start.

 

"Definitely no surprise about what's going on there," said White, who starred for Hoiberg. "He's as good a coach as you'll find."

 

White also watches the Gophers. He transferred to Iowa State from Minnesota.

 

"I had a couple issues at Minnesota, and it just wasn't a great spot for me at the time," he said. "But coach Richard Pitino has Minnesota going in the right direction."

 

White played basketball at Minneapolis DeLaSalle high school and Hopkins high school during his prep career. White also played for the University of Minnesota and Iowa State University.

 

White has seemed to have turned his life around after a turbulent prep, collegiate and pro basketball career.  

 

White has become outspoken person for mental health issues.

 

MILLER TIME TOOK ON ERROL CARLSTROM PLAYAZ IN THE HOWARD PULLEY PRO CITY SUMMER LEAGUE

It was playoff time at the Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League on July 29. In the first game Miller Time went up against Errol Carlstrom Playaz.

 

The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor trading baskets. The Playaz were able to string some quick baskets together in the first quarter.

 

The Playaz did a good job of getting the ball out of the rim and making baskets in transition.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the first quarter. Neither team went on a run. The defensive pressure that was applied was good as neither team was able to make easy baskets.

 

Royce White for Miller Time was all over the floor. He was able to call for the ball in the low post and when he got the ball he was able to make a drop step lay-up with ease.

 

Quinton Hooker for Miller Time did a good job of getting to the basket and was able to hit shots that he put up. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where they know that he could hit shots.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the second quarter. Neither team went on a run in the first half.

 

If White thought that he had a good shot he was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.

 

Both teams were able to get fast break baskets throughout the first half.

 

Miller Time did a good job of using the clock to their advantage. They looked to shoot the ball with less than 10 seconds left to go.

 

Both teams were aggressive and they battled hard. Tempers flared a little bit in the second quarter as teams got testy with each other.

 

It was a very physical. Both teams went hard to the basket and were not afraid shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.

 

At halftime the score was Miller Time 44, Errol Carlstrom Playaz 41.

 

The score continued to go back and forth throughout the third quarter. Neither team rushed their shots.

 

Miller Time came up with some nice baskets in the quarter. They were patient on the offensive end and waited will they had a good shot to shoot.

 

The score remained close throughout the third quarter as each team continued to pound the ball to the basket.

 

The score after three quarters of play was Miller Time 65, Errol Carlstrom Playaz 53.

 

As the third quarter rolled around Miller Time continued to get open looks at the baskets. They were able to finish plays around the hoop.

 

Errol Carlstrom Playaz was not able to climb out of the hole on the offensive end. Miller Time was a little quicker than the Errol Carlstrom Playaz.

 

In a hard fought game Miller Time came away with the 87-66 victory over Errol Carlstrom Playaz.

 

MILLER TIME TOOK ON SUTHERLAND RAIDERS IN THE HOWARD PULLEY PRO CITY SUMMER LEAGUE GAME

In the second game of the Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League on Thursday July 18, Miller Time took on Sutherland Raiders.

 

Quinton Hooker for Miller Time was able to get the ball down the floor with ease. He was able to get by his defender and get to the basket and make easy layups. Hooker is a vocal leader on the floor.

 

Miller Time looked to get the ball into Royce White’s hands. White took the ball hard to the basket and was able to get fouled and White was also able to make his free throws.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the first quarter. Neither team was able to go on a run.

 

Paris Kyles for the Sutherland Raiders was able to bring the ball down the floor and get the ball into the hands of his teammates. Kyles had good court vision and he knew where his players were on the floor at all times.

 

Neither team went on a run in the first quarter. Both teams took a lot of time off of the shot clock.

 

AJ Wilson for Sutherland Raiders came up with some nice baskets. He was able to get his shot to drop late in the quarter.

 

After the first quarter the score was Sutherland Raiders 30, Miller Time 24.

 

Wally Ellenson for Miller Time was all over the floor. He came up with some nice shots for his team.

 

Miller Time didn’t back down to the Sutherland Raiders. Miller Time still continued to push the ball down the floor and was able to get good looks at the basket.

 

Damian Johnson came into the game for Sutherland Raiders. Johnson was able to set his teammates up on the offensive end and was able to get assists.

 

Ellenson was able to drop some big three-point shots for his team. It didn’t matter when Ellenson was on the floor if he thought that he had a good shot he was not afraid to shoot it.

 

Both teams took good shots at the basket. Neither team gave up on either ends of the floor.

 

Siyani Chambers was all over the floor. He was able to get to the basket and make layups. If Chambers thought that his teammate had a better shot he wouldn’t be afraid to pass the ball to him for the assist.

 

The score at halftime was Sutherland Raiders 57, Miller Time 43.

 

The third quarter got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor looking for their best shots.

 

Miller Time kept on shooting the ball, even though they had a hard time shooting the ball.

 

White played well. He was very active on the floor. He was camped out on the low block and was able to get past his defenders.

 

Miller Time was able to string some baskets together with under 3:00 left in the third quarter.

 

Miller Time kept on attacking the glass. They had success at that as they were able to make layups late in the third quarter.

 

Oto Osenieks for Sutherland Raiders came up with some nice baskets late in the third quarter.

 

The score after three quarters of play was Sutherland Raiders 77, Miller Time 73.

 

Hooker came up with some clutch shots in the contest. He played with a lot of emotion and intensity.

 

The score went back and forth for a good portion of the fourth quarter. Neither team was able to go on a run.

 

It was a very good game.

 

Sutherland Raiders came away with the hard fought 110-98 victory over Miller Time.

 

The leading scorers for Sutherland Raiders were Will Graham with 24 points, AJ Wilson with 22 points, and Oto Osenieks with 16 points.

 

The leading scorers for Miller Time were Royce White with 28 points, Peter Olafeso with 25 points and Kenny Olafeso with 25 points.

 

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE COULD BE HEADED TO THE NBDL

Royce Alexander White who was selected number 16 in the 2012 NBA draft by the Houston Rockets could be headed to the D-League's Rio Grande Valley team after unexplained recent absences from the team. According to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, “White, who has been treated for anxiety disorder related to flying, was hoping to bus to some Rockets games. Buses are used for many of the D-League games. Meanwhile, the former Mr. Basketball Minnesota with Hopkins hasn't played in any of last-place Houston's seven games.”

White has not played in a regular season game as of Wednesday November 14, 2012. 

THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS OFFER ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE A JOB

According to The Associated Press: "The Harlem Globetrotters are reaching out to Minneapolis native and NBA rookie forward Royce White of the Houston Rockets. 

 

Royce has publicly said he has a fear of flying which could cut short his NBA career.

"I have watched from afar an incredibly gifted basketball player who has struggled off the court with a fear of flying, and I truly feel for this young man," said Globetrotter Coach and Director of Player Personnel "Sweet" Lou Dunbar, in a news release. "While we truly hope Royce can overcome his fears, and have a highly successful NBA career, I just want him to know the Globetrotters offer their support and another option to play professional basketball without a rigorous flying schedule. He could have an opportunity to play for the Globetrotters, as many of our 270 games in North America are traveled by luxury bus. As for the 150 others overseas, well, we would have to excuse him from those games."

The 6-foot-8 White, the 16th overall pick in last year's draft from Iowa State, made a deal with the Rockets to travel by bus to some games this season, so he could confront with his fear of flying and obsessive compulsive disorder over the long term. He flew with the team to its season opener in Detroit, then traveled by bus to games at Atlanta and Memphis.

 

White was a Twin Cities high school basketball star who played for the Gophers before transferring to Iowa State."

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE PICKED NUMBER 16 IN THE 2012 NBA DRAFT

Royce Alexander White who is from Minnesota was picked number 16 by the Huston Rockets in the 2012 NBA Draft.

White went to the University of Minnesota and then transferred to Iowa State before deciding to turn pro. White would have been a junior at Iowa State if he decided to return to go to school.

ROYCE WHITE ELIGIBILITY WAIVER DENIED

According to Iowa State University, Iowa State men's basketball player Royce White has been denied a waiver to compete in 2010-11 by the NCAA, the Iowa State Athletics Department announced today. Iowa State is, however, appealing the decision. Iowa State's appeal will be sent to a committee of faculty representatives and athletic directors.

FORMER MINNESOTA MR BASKETBALL ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE TO GO TO IOWA STATE

According to Charley Walters of the St Paul Pioneer Press former and Tony Geer of Community Hoops Mr. Basketball of Minnesota Royce Alexander White will be going to Iowa State University.

Royce White was originality going to go to the University of Minnesota but he got into legal trouble and was dismissed from the team.

ROYCE WHITE TO DROP OUT OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

According to multiple news reports Royce Alexander White plans to withdraw from the University of Minnesota. White has been in legal trouble at the University of Minnesota.

White was the 2009 Minnesota Mr. Basketball and was the top overall recruit from Minnesota.

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH TWO COUNTS OF TRESPASSING

According to Myron Page Medcalf of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, University of Minnesota freshman basketball player Royce Alexander White has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor trespassing.

Royce White got into trouble with the law in early November with two different incidents.

The charges are in relation to an account where he allegedly stole a laptop from a campus dorm room on Saturday November 7th 2009.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE RETURNS TO PRACTICE

Royce Alexander White, who is on the University of Minnesota men’s basketball team, was at practice for the first time this season. He did not play in any of the pre season games. He did play in at Tubby’s Tip Off event in the first open practice of the season. White has had some off the court troubles that has kept him from participating in basketball. White was named the 2009 Mr. Basketball player out of Minnesota. He was also one of the nation’s top recruits coming out of high school.

On New Year’s Eve day White attended his first practice for the Minnesota Gophers.

A day before Royce White returned to practice it was said that Tubby Smith and Royce White were seen together watching a local high school basketball tournament together.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MENS’ BASKETBALL PLAYER ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE SAYS HE IS LEAVING COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Royce White graduated last year from Hopkins high school. He was considered one of the best basketball players in the state of Minnesota last season. He won the 2009 Mr. Basketball award for Minnesota last season.

White, who was the University of Minnesota’s top basketball recruits, has gotten into some legal trouble when he got to the University of Minnesota.

White was suspended by the University of Minnesota due to his actions that took place at the Mall Of America.

He had made a few posts on the popular web site You Tube saying that he wanted to still play for the Gophers. He started his own record label with a couple friends of his.

He made announcements through Facebook, Twitter and You Tube. He wanted to get his side of the story out there.

His latest announcement came via You Tube and it basically said that he was quitting college basketball because of his legal issues.

He does not want to be a burden to Tubby Smith the Gophers head coach or to the program itself. He said that he wants to get into the music business.

We will have to just wait and see what is next for Royce Alexander White. Good luck to him in his future.

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE IS A SUSPECT IN UOFM CAMPUS THEFT

University of Minnesota basketball player Royce White is a possible suspect in a theft on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The theft apparently occurred on Saturday November 7th 2009.

Royce White is currently suspended indefinitely from the basketball team after being arrested on October 13th on allegations of shoplifting and fifth degree assault of a security officer at Macy’s at the Mall Of America.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA GOPHER MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE AND JUSTIN COBBS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED

According to multiple news organizations Minnesota Gophers Royce Alexander White and Justin Cobbs have been suspended indefinitely due to violations of team rules.

The Mr. Basketball of Minnesota Committee has honored Royce White as the 2009 Mr. Basketball of Minnesota.

"We felt that Royce was a very deserving winner," said Ken Lien, the chairman of the seven-member Mr. Basketball committee. "He is an intense competitor who has worked hard to be the best player. In spite of obstacles he has had to overcome, he has turned himself into a complete and talented player. I think he will do very well at the next level."

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE SIGNED LETTER OF INTENT

One of the top recruits, Royce Alexander White signed his letter of intent to play at the University of Minnesota. Royce has had some trouble in high school. This Season he has gotten a fresh start. I think that Royce is a good person that has learned from his mistakes. He has now surrounded himself with good people. He is a good basketball player that will continue to get better as time moves on. I think he will be a great asset to the University of Minnesota basketball program. He brings a strong knowledge of the game and a toughness that most kids don't have.

Royce White who has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Minnesota and Rodney Williams who is undecided at this time where he is going to be going to college but will be a SR this year at Robbinsdale Cooper are taking part in the Nike Global Challenge.

LOCAL ATHLETES SHOW THEIR STUFF AT TOP HOOPS CAMPS

Royce White who is has made a verbal commitment to play basketball for the University of Minnesota recently went out and played at the Vince Carter basketball camp in Orlando Florida. He is also participated in the LeBron James Skills Academy.

Rodney Williams was also at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Rodney Williams put on a good show out at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Both of these camps are for some of the top players in the country and they have to be invited by the camp directors to participate in these camps.

ROYCE ALEXANDER WHITE TRYING TO RECRUIT RODNEY MAURICE WILLIAMS TO THE UINVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

Royce Alexander White who is going to Hopkins High School this year is good friends with Rodney Maurice Williams who goes to Cooper High School. Royce Alexander White and Rodney Maurice Williams are playing on the same summer AAU basketball team. Howard Pulley Black 17U team. Royce Alexander White has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota. As of right now Rodney Maurice Williams is still undecided about where he will be going to college. They will both be Senior’s next year. Royce is playing the role of recruiter now trying to convince Rodney Maurice Williams to come to the University of Minnesota. Royce Alexander White is pretty confident that he can get Rodney to join him at the University of Minnesota. Rodney has many different schools recruiting him and he also has a good friend recruiting him also. It will be interesting to see what will happen. It will also show how this thing shakes out. The question still is where will Rodney Maurice Williams be going to college?

TWO OF THE TOP KIDS ON DISPLAY THIS WEEKEND AT HOWARD PULLEY TOURNAMENT

Two of the top in state basketball players from Minnesota will be on display this weekend at the Howard Pulley Tournament in Bloomington. Royce White and Rodney Williams are teammates for the Howard Pulley squad.

They are regarded as two of the top players in the state and country. Will this be Rodney Williams coming out party? Who knows. Even though division 1 college coaches are not allowed to be in the building my guess is that some lower division coaches and many fans will see these kids and get back to their coach’s and the word will spread about these two young kids.
