OSSEO TOOK ON LAKEVILLE NORTH IN THE CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

The Osseo Orioles took on the Lakeville North in the class AAAA state final game. Both teams took a while for each other to get a feel for the other team.

At the first media timeout with 13:58 left in the first half the score was Lakeville North 4 and Osseo 2.

It was a defensive battle from the start. Neither team wanted to give up any easy shots.

There was a media timeout with 10:53 left in the first half. The score was Lakeville North 6 and Osseo 5.

The game had a slow pace to it. Both teams took a lot of time off the clock in the first half. Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds.

It was a defensive battle. Neither team gave up easy shots. Ian Theisen was all over the court.

There was a media timeout with 5:37 left in the first half. The score was Osseo 16 and Lakeville North 9.

At halftime the score was Osseo 23 and Lakeville North16. Osseo shot 8-26 from the field and 3-8 from behind the three-point line. Lakeville North shot 6-25 from the field including going 3-12 from the field.

After approximately seven minutes into the second half Osseo only managed to score 5 points while Lakeville was able to cut the margin to only 3 points by scoring 9 points in that 7 minute stretch.

There was a media timeout with 13:42 left in regulation the score was Osseo 28 and Lakeville North 25.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Neither team went on a run in the first half.

Bridgeport Tusler was all over the floor. He was able to get lay-ups in the open drives to the basket.

There was a media timeout with 6:47 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 37 and Lakeville North 35.

The game went down to the wire. The score tied at 47 with 29.9 seconds left to go in the game.

It was a defensive battle but in the end Osseo held on to win the game.

Ian Theisen hit the game winner at the buzzer to win it. 49-47. 

DeLaSalle TOOK ON WASHBURN IN THE CLASS AAA STATE TOURNAMENT FINALS

It was the battle of Minneapolis as Washburn took on DeLaSalle in the class AAA state championship game. Both teams looked to get into their offense early in the game.

The score went back and forth in the first half. Neither team got any easy baskets in the early going.

Washburn played mostly man-to-man defense in the first half. They didn't want to give up any easy baskets.

At the first media timeout with 10:26 left in the first half the score was DeLaSalle 11 and Washburn 8.
De LaSalle went on a little run after the first media time out. Washburn didn't panic on the offensive end.

Both teams went back and forth. Both teams played very aggressive on both ends of the court. DeLaSalle came out and played man

There was a media timeout with 6:57 left in the first half.

Washburn's Joseph Doby was all over the floor. He was able to find his shot and hit shots from everywhere on the floor.

In a defensive battle the score at halftime was DeLaSalle 34 and Washburn 33. Washburn shot 12-21 from the field that included going 0-2 from the three-point line. DeLaSalle was 13-28 from the field that included going 1-7 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both team continued to shoot well. The score continued to go back and forth. Both teams looked for ways to get to the basket.

There was a media timeout with 10:01 the score was DeLaSalle 43 and Washburn 41. The defensive pressure that each team played was just at a high pitch. Both of these teams played outstanding defense.

With both teams so evenly matched it was truly disappointing to see any one of them lose. But that is why we come to the state championship games. We want to see the best play the best. Fans were not disappointed with this game.

The score went back and forth and everyone both teams clamped down on their defense to apply even more pressure. Both of these teams brought a lot of fans.

Both teams continued to grind it out. This was one of the better high school games that I have done because neither team gave up and they all played hard.

Reid Travis was all over the floor. He was able to hit baskets from anywhere on the court.

There was a media timeout with 3:53 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 49 and Washburn 46.

Washburn called a timeout with 1:32 left in the game the score was DeLaSalle 51 and Washburn 49.

The game came down to the wire.

Dwight Anderson was fouled with 2.9 seconds left to go and he missed the first free-throw and there was a timeout.

The score was tied at 51 at the end of regulation.

As the overtime period got underway both teams worked the ball around to find the best shot. The score went back and forth in the overtime period.

Luke Scott drains a three-point shot with 36 seconds left to go to give DeLaSalle a one point lead. Washburn called a timeout with 34.8 seconds left. The score was DeLaSalle 55 and Washburn 54.

In a dramatic ending, Ross Barker hit a shot at the buzzer and DeLaSalle came away with the 57-56 victory over Washburn to win the class AAA state boys' championship. 

LITCHFIELD TOOK ON PLAINVIEW-ELGIN-MILLVILLE IN THE CLASS AA BOYS' BASKETBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Litchfield came out of the gate quickly as they looked to set the tempo and get into their offense early.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. It took a while for each team to get used to what they were doing on the floor.

There was a media timeout with 6:43 left in the first half.

It was a defensive game in the first half. Neither team gave up easy shots.

There was a media timeout with 3:44 left in the first half. The score was tied at 18.

Both teams played hard throughout the first half. It was a defensive struggle as can be seen by the score. Offense was sparse.

At halftime the score was PEM 24 and Litchfield 20.

Litchfield shot 7-18 from the field including going 3-10 from behind the three-point line. PEM shot 10-25 from the field including going 0-4 from behind the three-point line.

Both teams traded baskets throughout the second half. Neither team gave up any easy baskets.

It was a defensive battle. Neither team went on a run.

There was a media timeout with 10:41 left in regulation the score was Litchfield 31 and PEM 30.

PEM went on a 7-1 run after the media timeout. The score was PEM 38 and Litchfield 31 with 8:46 left in regulation.

Both teams emptied there benches with 1:20 to go in the game with PEM in control.

PEM went on a tear late in the game. Litchfield was not able to hit their shots that they put up. PEM came away with the 55-39 victory over Litchfield.

BELGRADE-BROOTEN-ELROSE TOOK ON SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA CHRISTIAN IN THE CLASS A BOYS' STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa High School took on Southwest Minnesota Christian in the class A Minnesota State High School League State Championship game.

As the game got underway both teams seem to be rushing their shots. Only 11 points were scored within the first 5 minutes.

At the first media timeout with 14:56 left in the first half the score was Southwest Minnesota Christian 8 and BE 3.

Southwest Minnesota got the ball into the hands of Klint Knutson. He was all over the floor. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he knew he could score.

Over the next five minute stretch, BBE found their range and stepped up their defensive pressure.
There was a media timeout with 10:45 left in the first half. The score was Southwest Minnesota Christian 16 and BBE 15.

Southwest Minnesota Christian went on a run after the media timeout. BBE held their ground. They didn't give up any easy shots and they made it hard for Southwest Minnesota Christian to hit theirs.

The score went back and forth late in the first half. There were several ties and lead changes in the first half.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Both teams played outstanding defense throughout the game.

The game came down to the wire. Neither team let off the pressure as they both went to man-to-man defense.

Both teams stepped up their defensive pressure in the game. Both teams played with a lot of emotion and energy throughout the game.

BBE's Brian Goodwin was all over the floor. He was able to get his jump shot going and was a leader on the floor throughout the game.

BBE came away with the 54-45 victory over SW Minnesota Christian to win the Class A state tournament final.

THE SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA CHRISTIAN EAGLES TOOK ON RUSHFORD-PETERSON TROJANS IN THE STATE SEMIFINALS

The Southwest Minnesota Christian Eagles took on the Rushford-Peterson Trojans in the semifinals of the Minnesota State High School League state boys' basketball tournament. Rushford-Peterson came into the game with a record of 25-5 and Southwest Minnesota Christian came into the game with a record of 26-1.

Southwest Minnesota Christian looked to get everyone involved in the offense. On the defensive end they played a zone defense. SMC’s game plan was to force Rushford-Peterson in shooting long range shots and try to keep them out of the paint.

For Southwest Minnesota Christian they looked to get the ball into the hands of Keeran Sampson. Sampson was all over the floor as he found his shot early in the game.

There was a media timeout with 14:49 left in the first half the score was Southwest Christian 7 and Rushford 2.

The score went back and forth midway through the first half as each team was hit shots. Over the next 5 minutes of the game, Rushford Peterson was able to gain control of the first half. They applied tremendous defensive pressure and half SMC to only 2 points over the next five minutes whiling turning up their offensive efforts they managed to score 10 points.

There was a media timeout with 10:54 left in the first half. The score was Rushford 12 and Southwest Christian 9.

Both teams were feeling the pressure of the occasion. The teams were coached well and they tried to employ various defensive strategies in an effort to force turnovers. The coaches were up instructing there players on where they were supposed to be on the court and yelling encouragement.

There was a media timeout with 6:26 left in the first half. The score was Rushford-Peterson 18 and Southwest Christian 17.

Neither team gave up easy shots in the during a physically contested first half.

There was a media timeout with 3:18 left in the first half. The score was Rushford-Peterson 23 and South West Christian 20.

The score at halftime was Rushford-Peterson 28 and Southwest Christian 22.

In the first half Rushford-Peterson shot 8-19 from the field. That included going 2-7 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams came out looking refreshed. They continued to dive on the floor and go after loose balls and rebounds.

Nick Thompson and Trent Vix brought tremendous energy off the bench which gave emotional lift to their team. These guys were all over the floor for Rushford-Peterson.

Both teams continued to exchange baskets but SMC could not get enough stops to overtake their opponent.

There was a media timeout with 6:20 left in regulation. The score was Rushford-Peterson 36 and Southwest Christian 33.

In the final minutes of the game, Rushford-Peterson lost control of their lead. The game continued to be a defensive struggle which turned out to be in the favor of Southwest Christian.

The game came down to the wire. Both of these teams gave it everything that that had and laid everything on the floor.

Southwest Christian came away with the 46-44 victory over Rushford-Peterson. 

THE WOLVERINES TOOK ON THE JAGUARS IN THE CLASS A STATE SEMIFINALS

The Mountain Lake/Butterflied-Odin Wolverines took on Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars in the class A State semifinal game. Mountain Lake came into the game with a record of 25-5 while BBE had a record of 31-0. 

Belgrade got out to a quick 5-0 lead. They passed the ball around the three-point line to get in to their offense. Mountain Lake responds as quickly scoring baskets of their own.

Both of these teams looked focused and dialed into the game. The coaches were both focused.

At the first media timeout of the game with 14:56 left in the first half the score was Mountain Lake 7 and Belgrade 5.

BBE got the ball into the hands of Billy Borgerding who played an all-around good game.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team gave up easy basket. BBE tried to trap the ball on the defensive end. They wanted to rattle the Mountain Lake players.

There were many lead changes and ties in the first half. Neither team gave up any easy baskets. I thought that both of these teams came into the game well prepared

There was a media timeout with 10:54 left in the first half. The score was Mountain Iron 14 and BBE 13.

Neither team gave up easy shots in the first half. They were able to get into their offensives sets despite the various defensive schemes thrown at them by their opponent.

There were many ties and lead changes in the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run in the first quarter.

BBE scored many of their points with transition baskets. The Jaguars need not seem to have the foot speed to get back on defense.

BBE's Brian Goodwin was all over the floor. He found his shot in the first half. He shot the ball mostly from inside the three-point line. Mountain Iron was not able to slow him down on the offensive end.

There was a media timeout with 3:55 left in the first half. The score was BBE 28 and MIB 24.

Both teams played with a lot of intensity in the first half. Neither team gave up any easy shots. It was a very physical game on both ends of the floor.

The score at halftime was BBE 36 and MIB 31. BBE shot 12-34 from the field that included going 3-11 from behind the three-point line. MIB shot 12-23 from the field. That included going 5-5 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to pound the ball inside. For MIB Beau Herrig was all over the floor. He took good shots and got his teammates involved in the offense.

BBE continued to get shots at the basket. They also looked to spread the ball out and take time off the clock.

BBE came away with the 56-36 victory over MIB.

PERHAM TOOK ON LITCHFIELD IN THE STATE CLASS AA SEMIFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE BOYS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Perham Yellow Jackets who came into the game with a record of 28-2 took on the Litchfield Dragons in the state semifinals of the Minnesota State High School League.

Both teams looked to get into a shooting rhythm easy on in the game. Both teams took their time shooting the ball and getting into their offense.

At the first media timeout with 14:47 left in the first half the score was Perham 4 and Litchfield 6.

Both of these teams looked confident under pressure. Both of these teams looked to get the ball out of the net and run as they both looked to score baskets in transition.

There was a media timeout with 10:57 left in the first half. The score was Perham 12 Litchfield 8.

Perham got the ball into the hands of Jordan Bruhn. He was all over the defensive end. Bruhn was all over the floor. He was not afraid to get the ball to his teammates if he thought they had a better shot.

In a low scoring first half the score at the 3rd media timeout with 5:38 the score was Perham 18 and Litchfield 17.

Perham kept on pounding the ball inside.

There was a media timeout with 3:52 left in the first half. The score was Perham 20 and Litchfield 19.

Neither team went on a run in a very physically contested game.

The first half the score was Litchfield 21 and Perham 20.

In the first half Perham shot 9-18 from the field that included going 1-5 from behind the three-point line. Litchfield shot 10-22 from the field that included going 1-4 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams kept the intensity at on high. At the first media timeout of the second half, with 14:49 left the score was Perham 25 and Litchfield 23.

Perham played mostly man-to man in the second half.

There was a media timeout with 9:59 left in the game the score was Perham 29 and Litchfield 28.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Both teams worked the clock to maximize their possession times.

Perham called a timeout with 3:44 left in the game with the score tied at 31.

Perham went to a zone defense late in the zone late in the game. On the offense end they held the ball to burn time off the clock.

The game came down to the wire. Litchfield held the ball as they wanted to take the last shot. Neither team has made a basket for the last seven minutes of the second half. As time clicked off the shot with the scored still tied, Zach Kinny hit the game winning shot with time expiring Litchfield won the game 33-31. 

HOPKINS TOOK ON OSSEO IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE BOYS' STATE TOURNAMENT

The Hopkins Royals who came in the game with a record of 29-1 took on the Osseo Orioles who had a record of 27-2. One of Osseo losses game to Hopkins in an 82-68 defeated on January 24 2012.

Hopkins started the game out in a man-to-man defense. Both teams raced up and down the floor but could not get easy transitions baskets. Neither team looked to take quick shots.

At the first media timeout with 14:46 left in the first half the score was Hopkins 3 and Osseo 2.

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. It took a little while for each of the teams to get acclimated to each other. After they settled down both teams took their time and ran their offensive sets.

Hopkins went on a run midway through the first half and outscored Osseo 15-8.

There was a media timeout with 10:21 left in the first half. The score was Hopkins 18 and Osseo 10.

Osseo went on a 10-2 run after the media timeout. The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team gave up easy baskets.

There was a media timeout with 6:51 left in the first half. The score was tied at 20.

The score was close throughout the first half but Hopkins managed to regain control.

There was a media timeout with 2:29 left in the first half. The score was Hopkins 27 and Osseo 24.

Both teams burned a lot of clock late in the first half. At halftime the score was Hopkins 32 and Osseo 28. The leading scorers for Hopkins were Demetrius Martin with 10 points and Nicholas Jorgenson with 11 points. The leading scorer for Osseo was Ian Theisen with 8.

Hopkins came out firing on all cylinders in the second half and managed to add 10 points to their total while Osseo was sluggish and only could manage 2 points.

At the first media timeout of the second half the score was Hopkins 42 and Osseo 34.

However, Osseo finally found their stride and they managed to make a game of it and closed the gap to a 2 points.

At the final media timeout the score was Hopkins 57 and Osseo 55.

The score went back and forth in the final two minutes. Both teams played hard and either team could win the game.

The game was tied at 64 at the end of regulation. So there was a 4:00 overtime period.

Hopkins called a timeout with 1:27 left in the overtime period. After playing over 2 full minutes both teams could only manage to add 2 points to their totals. The score was tied at 64.

Hopkins looked to kill the clock in the overtime period. The score was tied at 64 after the first overtime.

At the end of the second overtime the score was tied at 77. There was a third overtime.

The score went back and forth in the third overtime. Osseo called a timeout with 27.9 left in the third overtime. Osseo’s bench proved invaluable during the three overtimes.

Osseo beat Hopkins by the final of 87-86.

MINNEAPOLIS DeLaSalle TOOK ON GRAD RAPIDS IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE TOURNAMENT

Minneapolis DeLaSalle took on Grand Rapids in the state class AAA Semifinal game.

At the first media time out with 15:00 left in the first half the score was Grand Rapids 8 and DeLaSalle 0. DeLaSalle went on a 9-0 run after the first media timeout.

DeLaSalle woke up after the first media timeout. They were able to string together some baskets. They got the ball into the hands of Jarvis Johnson who played a very good game.

DeLaSalle went on a 9-0 run after the first media timeout.

De LaSalle kept on looking for their chances to score. They got the ball into the hands of Tyler Moore. Moore was all over the floor. Johnson and Moore were the spark plugs for DeLaSalle.

DeLaSalle turned up the pressure on Grand Rapids late in the first half.

At halftime the score was DeLaSalle 26 and Grand Rapids 20.

Grand Rapids was 9-18 from the field that included going 0-2 from behind the three-point line. They were 2-2 from the free-throw line.

DeLaSalle shot 9-22 from the field that included going 4-12 from behind the three-point line. They shot 4-7 from the free-throw line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to pound away at each together. Grand Rapids made a gallant effort but were simply outmanned by DeLaSalle’s talent.

In a very sloppy game DeLaSalle ran away with a 23 point victory with the final score 67-44 over Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids was lead in scoring by Alex Illikainen with 20 points and Austin Pohlen with 13 points. Grand Rapids shot 16-41 from the field that included going 2-6 from behind the three-point line. They were 10-11 from the free-throw line. Grand Rapids brought down a total of 29 rebounds 22 of them on the defensive end. They scored 18 points in the paint and 8 points off of turnovers.

DeLaSalle was lead in scoring by Luke Scott who scored 20 points and Reid Travis with 17 points.
They shot 22-50 from the field that included going 7-20 from behind the three-point line. DeLaSalle was 10-16 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 26 rebounds 18 of them on the defensive end.

THE MINNEAPOLIS CITY TOOK ON THE ST. PAUL CITY IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE BOYS' STATE TOURNAMENT

The Minneapolis Washburn Millers took on the St. Paul Johnson Governors in the state boys' basketball semifinals. In their first meeting of the season in the Twin Cities championship game Washburn came away with the 90-89 victory. Johnson had a record of 21-8 going into the game and Washburn had a record of 28-2.

The game got off to a quick start as each team traded baskets to open the game up. Neither team gave up easy shots.

Johnson got the ball into the hands of Marcus Marteze Marshall. Marshall was all over the floor. He was able to get his shot up and beat teams off the dribble.

Washburn went to a zone defense in an attempt to force Johnson in spreading out their offense.

Washburn was a little quicker than Johnson which enable them to take a 10 point lead in the first half.

There was a media timeout with 6:16 left in the first half. The score was Washburn 27 and St. Paul Johnson 17.

Washburn’s Jerry Pratt and Joseph Doby were on fire. They both were able to step up and hit some difficult shots.

There was a media timeout with 3:22 left in the first half. The score was Washburn 35 and Johnson 23.

Washburn went to a zone defense. They wanted to force Johnson to take deep three-point shots.

At halftime the score was Washburn 39 and Johnson 30.

At the half Washburn was 17-28 from the field that included going 1-5 from behind the three-point line. Johnson was 12-29 from the field. That included going 3-7 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway Johnson came out on fire. They closed the gap to 4 points by feeding Marshall the ball. Marshall was all over the floor he continued to drop shots.

At the first media timeout with 14:55 left in regulation the score was Washburn 43 and Johnson 39.

Washburn looked to slow down Marshall. They were able to trap him and make him pick up his dribble.

Johnson continued to look to push the ball down the court and get it into the hands into their star player Marshall. Washburns pressure was working.

There was a media timeout with 10:30 left in regulation the score was Washburn 52 and Johnson 42.

Johnson looked to pass the ball around the three-point line. They looked to find there shot late in the game. They did make a run late in the game and managed to close the scoring gap to only 3 points. Washburn called a timeout with 7:45 left in regulation the score was Washburn 52 and Johnson 49.

The game came down to the wire. Both teams did a good job of battling to the end.

Both teams were able to score baskets in transition. Washburn switched between man-to-man and zone defense.

At the final media timeout of the game with 3:49 left in regulation the score was Washburn 60 and Johnson 58.

Both teams traded baskets late in the ball game. Johnson called a timeout with 2:07 left in regulation. The score was Washburn 65 and St. Paul Johnson 62.

Johnson went to a full court trap. They wanted to make it hard for Washburn to score baskets late in the contest.

Both team brought a ton of fans and students. They were both into the games and cheered for their teams. There was also a battle of the bands as they both came out in full force.

Washburn came away with the 75-66 victory over St. Paul Johnson. Washburn was lead in scoring by Joseph Doby with 21 points, Jerry Pratt with 17 points and Nick Anderson with 14 points. Washburn shot 28-61 from the field that included going 1-8 from behind the three-point line. They were 18-27 from the free-throw line. They brought down a total of 44 rebounds 22 of them on the defensive end.

St. Paul Johnson was led in scoring by Marshall Marteze Marshall with 31 points De'Vonta Durr with 13 points. Johnson was 21-48 from the field that included going 4-13 from behind the three-point line. They were 20-28 from behind the free-throw line. Johnson brought down a total of 26 rebounds 15 of them on the defensive end.

WATERTOWN-MEYER TOOK ON LITCHFIELD IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

Watertown-Mayer High School came into the game with a record of 28-2 took on the Litchfield Dragons who had a record of 24-4 in the boys' state quarterfinals of the 2012 Minnesota State High School League boys' state tournament.

Litchfield got out to a quick 9-2 lead with 12:00 left in the first half.

Litchfield's Jon Tering was all over the floor. He was able to knock down shots from anywhere he wanted to in the opening half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball.

Watertown-Mayer was not able to get their shots to fall in the first half.

Litchfield was able to dominate Watertown-Mayer on the defensive end. They made it very difficult for them to hit shots in the first half.

In a lopsided first half Litchfield was up by the score of Litchfield 20 and Watertown-Mayer 8. Litchfield shot 5-17 from the field that included going 1-5 from behind the three-point line. Watertown-Mayer shot 3-12 from the field. That included going 2-5 from behind the three-point line.

In a very sloppy second half Litchfield continued their thrashing of Watertown-Mayer.

Watertown-Mayer showed some life late in the game. The score with 5:39 left in regulation was Litchfield 34 and Watertown-Mayer 26. WM closed the gap to only 8 points which was brought some spark back into the game as fans were hoping for a comeback victory. However, it was not enough as Watertown-Mayer tried to make a run late in the game but they came up short.

In a game that started out at a quick pace Litchfield came away with the 51-40 victory over Watertown Mayer.

THE WORTHINGTON TROJANS TOOK ON THE PERHAM YELLOW JACKETS IN THE CLASS AA STATE QUARTERFINAL BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

The Worthington Trojans who came into the game with a record of 21-6 went up against the Perham Yellow Jackets who had a record of 27-2 in the state quarter finals boys basketball game.

The game opened up as each team raced up and down the court trading baskets. Perham got the ball into the hands of Jordan Bruhn and Jordan Cresap. Both of them were able to shoot the ball well in the first half.

Worthington got the ball into the hands of Mitch Weg. Who was all over the floor. He was able to keep his team in the game.

Perham called a timeout with 4:12 left in the first half. It was a defensive struggle for both sides and the score was Worthington 22 and Perham 17. For the remaining 4:12 first half only 7 points were scored.

Both of the coaches were really into the game. They both stood and shouted instructions to their players as to let them know what play they wanted to run.

At halftime the score was Worthington 24 and Perham 22.

Worthington was 11-25 from the field that included going 1-4 from behind the three-point line. Perham was 9-22 from the field that included going 2-8 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to look to shoot the ball. Worthington looked to keep feeding Weg the ball. Weg was determined to get to the basket.

The game went back and forth midway throughout the second half. Neither team gave up easy shots. 
 
Worthington got down in the game but they never got down on themselves. Perham eventually gained control of the game at both ends of the court. They outshot their opponent and held them to 23 points in the second half. Perham on the other hand scored 29 points in the second half.

Both student fan sections cheered and chanted back and forth for a fun atmosphere. Both bands played and that got each team motivated in playing.

The game went back and forth late in the game. Perham came away with the 51-47 victory over Worthington.

The leading scorers for Worthington were Mitch Wed with 24 points and Lucas Henning with 9 points. Worthington shot 21-45 from the field that included going 3-10 from behind the three-point line. They were 2-4 from the free-throw line. Worthington brought down a total of 26 rebounds 20 of them on the defensive end.

THE EDEN PRAIRIE EAGLES TOOK ON THE EASTVIEW LIGHTNING IN THE STATE QUARTERFINALS OF THE CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Eden Prairie Eagles game into the state quarterfinal game with a record of 22-7 took on the Lighting of Eastview who had a record of 28-1.

Both teams got off to a slow start. Neither team gave up easy shots. Eden Prairie started the game in a zone defense. They looked to push the Eastview shooters and make them jack up bad shots.

Eden Prairie looked to get the ball into the hands of Abrian Adonis Walters Carpenter who was all over the floor. On the offensive end he looked to shoot the ball.

Eastview called a timeout with 11:21 left in the first half. The score was Eastview 9 and Eden Prairie 7.

Eastviews defensive pressure was able to cause havoc for Eden Prairie. Eastview went on a run after the timeout. Eden Prairie didn’t back down though. They were kept on shooting the ball whenever they though that they had a good shot.

Neither team gave up an easy shot in the first half. The game was completive by both teams. At halftime the score was Eastview 21 and Eden Prairie 20.Eastview shot 9-16 from the field that included going 2-14 from behind the three-point line. Eden Prairie was 8-19 from the field. That included going 0-3 from behind the three-point line.

The score went back and forth to start the second half. Each coach id a good job of coaching his kids. They were both loud and forceful when they shouted out plays for their team.

Lakeview took their time of the offensive end. They wanted to take time off the clock and get into their offensive rhythm.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half. There were several ties and lead changes in the second half.

Grant Shaeffer for Eden Prairie nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.

The game was tied at 57 at the end of regulation.

In a game that came down to the wire. In the end Eastview came away with the 75-68 hard fought victory over Eden Prairie.

The leading scorers for Eden Prairie were Grant Shaeffer with 41 points, Sander Mohn with 19 points and Abrian Carpenter with 5 points. They shot 23-43 from the field. That included going 7-12 from behind the three-point line. Eden Prairie brought down a total of 25 rebounds 16 of them on the defensive end.

The leading scorers for Eastview were Joey King with 27 points, Darin Hough with 16 points and Jordan Bolger with 14 points. Eastview shot 22-44 from the field. That included going 6-19 from behind the three-point line. They were 18-25 from the free-throw line. Eastview brought down a total of 22 rebounds. 15 of them on the defensive end. 

THE SPUDS OF MOORHEAD TOOK ON THE PANTHERS OF LAKEVILE NORTH IN A QUARTERFINAL OF THE BOYS' STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Moorhead Spuds who came into the game with a record of 18-9 took on the Lakeville North Panthers who came into the game with a record of 28-1.

It took a while for each of these teams to get acclimated to the floor and the game. The score went back and forth at the start of the game.

Moorhead strung some baskets together and they were able to get up 12-7 with 10:23 left in the first half.

Lakeville North went to a man-to-man defense. They didn't want to give up easy shots. Both teams looked to score baskets in transition.

Moorhead called a timeout with 6:17 left in the first half. The score was Moorhead 18 and Lakeville North 16.

Austin Nelson for Moorhead was all over the floor. On the offensive end he was able to hit shots. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.

In very competitive and closely contested contest the halftime the score was Moorhead 29 and Lakeville North 26. Moorhead shot 11-25 from the field that included going 5-10 from behind the three-point line. They were 2-4 from the free-throw line. Lakeville North was 8-21 from the field. That included going 1-7 from behind the three-point line. They were 9-11 from the free-throw line.

Moorhead kept on getting to the basket. Lakeville North didn't back down. The score went back and forth throughout the second half.

Both teams looked under control on the floor. They were patient and let the game come to them. They didn’t rush their shots.

I liked how Lakeville North's Tyler David played. He played with a lot of heart and emotion. He came in and gave his team energy on both ends of the floor.

Neither team gave up. They each made good plays on both ends of the floor. Both coaches coached with a lot of emotion and pride.

The score went back and forth late in the game. Lakeville North came away with the 61-55 victory over Moorhead.

The leading scorers for Moorhead were Aaron Lien with 15 points and Austin Nelson with 14 points. Moorhead was 20-46 from the field. That included going 8-18 from behind the three-point line. They shot 7-10 from the free-throw line. Moorhead brought down a total of 25 rebounds 18 of them on the defensive end.

The leading scorers for Lakeville North were Ryan Saarela with 13 points and Grant Erickson with 11 points. Lakeville North shot 20-48 from the field that included going 4-15 from behind the three-point line.

DULTH EAST TOOK ON OSSEO IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE BOYS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

The Duluth East Greyhounds took on the Osseo Orioles in the quarterfinals of the Minnesota State High School League State tournament. Duluth East had a record of 20-8 and Osseo had a record of 27-2 going into the game.

As the game got underway both teams took their time on the offensive end. The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team got an easy shot as the defensive pressure was very good by both teams.

Duluth East went to a full court man-to-man defense. They wanted to frustrate the Osseo players. Osseo didn't bend to the pressure that was applied to them.

Both teams were very physical all over the court. There were many loose balls and rebounds. Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls.

Osseo had a tough time hitting shots in the first half. They didn't give up though. They kept on looking for shots.

Osseo went to a zone defense. They looked to spread the Greyhounds

The score at halftime was Duluth East 27 and Osseo 23. Duluth East was 10-27 from the field including going 2-5 from behind the three-point line. Osseo was 11-34 from the field including going 1-8 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to penetrate to the glass and looked for their shots as they wanted to take time off the clock.

Osseo called a timeout with 10:27 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 40 and Duluth East 32.

East got the ball into the hands of guard Johnny Bernard Woodard. Woodard was all over the floor. He was able to hit shots that he put up from inside of the three-point line.

Throughout the second half both teams looked poised on the floor. East continued to get the ball into the hands of Woodard who was just an animal

Osseo's DJ Hebert was all over the floor. He was able to find his shooting touch in the game and made shots from everywhere on the floor throughout the game.

Both Ian Theisen and Bridge Tusler both played very well for Osseo. They knew where there teammates were on the floor and they got everyone involved in the offense.

In a very good game played by each team Osseo hung on and came away with the 62-51 victory over Duluth East.

Duluth East was lead in scoring by Taylor Stafford with 17 points, Shaq Coleman and Johnny Bernard Woodard each had 12 points. East shot 17-47 from the field. That included going 4-14 from behind the three-point line. They were 13-21 from the free-throw line. They brought down a total of 37 rebounds 22 of them on the defensive end.

Osseo was lead in scoring by DJ Hebert with 18 points, Ian Theisen and Bridge Tusler each had 11 points. Osseo shot 26-62 from the field that included going 4-12 from behind the three-point line. They were 6-11 from the free-throw line. Osseo brought down a total of 36 rebounds 19 of them on the defensive end.

IT WAS A BATTLE OF THE ROYALS AS WOODBURY TOOK ON HOPKINS IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE BOYS' STATE TOURNAMENT

Woodbury and Hopkins took to the Target Center in the quarterfinals of the Minnesota State High School State boys' basketball tournament. Woodbury had a record of 24-5 and Hopkins had a record of 28-1 and was the number 1 seed in the tournament.

Both teams got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor. Woodbury looked to get the ball into the hands of Jordan Voit and Rick Suggs. They both were able to look for their shots.

Woodbury started the game in a zone defense. Woodbury wanted to slow down the Hopkins offense and didn’t want them to get open shots.

The score went back and forth in the first half. Neither team gave up easy shots and the defense was quite intense.

Suggs was able to get in the lane and get jump shots within the lane. The Hopkins defenders were not able to get to him before he shot it.

Hopkins tried to throw mutable defenses at Woodbury but Woodbury was able to figure out what defense that they were in and was able to counter that.

Hopkins called a timeout with 8:25 left in the first half. The score was Woodbury 22 and Hopkins 15.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team gave up easy shots. When one team would try to go on a run the other team would step up their defensive pressure to try to make it difficult for them to shoot it.

Hopkins Demetrius Martin was all over the floor. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots that they knew that he could shoot the ball from. Martin was able o get a few wide open lay-ups.

At halftime the score was Hopkins 42 and Woodbury 34. Woodbury shot 14-33 from the field in the first half that included going 2-11 from behind the three line. Hopkins shot 13-27 in the first half. That included going 2-11 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway. Suggs got hot again in the second half as he hit shots and was an emotional leader for his team.

Woodbury continued to look to the basket for their shots. They were not able to the three-point shots but they must felt that they wanted to shoot them.

Hopkins took a timeout with 13:06 left in regulation. The score was Hopkins 47 and Woodbury 44.

Both teams continued to go after loose balls and rebounds late in the game. The score was tied at 54 with 9:00 left in the regulation.

Hopkins called a timeout with 8:55 left in regulation. The score was tied up at 54.

The score went back and forth late in the game. The game came down to the wire. Hopkins called a timeout with 1:29 left in regulation the score was Woodbury 65 and Hopkins 61.

The score went back and forth late in the contest. Both of these teams left everything they hand on the floor in this game.

This is one of the better games that I have seen this season. The game was played at a high level and both fans and teams were into the game from the get go.

The game was tied at 65 with 1.5 seconds to go in regulation. There was a timeout on the floor.

The game was tied at 65 the end of regulation. There was a 4:00 overtime period.

The intensity continued in the overtime period. Neither tea gave up as they each played hard throughout the game.

Hopkins was able to string baskets together in the overtime period. Hopkins came away with the 82-75 victory over Woodbury.

The leading scorers for Woodbury were Renard Suggs with 21 points, Connor Mckeen with 15 points and Rickey Suggs with 10 points. Woodbury shot 30-68 from the field. That included going 6-24 from behind the three-point line. They were 9-18 from the free-throw line. Woodbury brought down a total of 47 rebounds including 31 from the defensive end.

The leading scorers for Hopkins were Siyani Chambers with 25 points and Demetrius Martin with 21 points. Hopkins shot 21-55 from the field including going 8-25 from behind the three-point line. Hopkins was 32-39 from the free-throw line. Hopkins brought down a total of 33 rebounds including 25 on the defensive end.
