HOWARD LAKE WAVERLY WINSTED TOOK ON PELICAN RAPIDS


Both of these teams came out ready to play here in this game. Both of these teams were able to get out close start. They each begun shooting the ball trading baskets early on. Pelican Rapids played a tough man to man defense in the second half. They were able to come up with loose balls.


Pelican Rapids came into the game undefeated. They knew that they would have to keep playing aggressive on the defensive end. They started playing zone defense. They were able to get out and extend on their shooters.
Pelican Rapids was able to go on a little run midway through the first half. HLWW also was able to keep the game close in the first half.


Throughout the first half each team was able to get into their offense. Each team was able to dive on the floor for loose balls.


At half time the score was Howard Lake Waverly Winsted 21 and Pelican Rapids 29.


Both of these teams played strong and aggressively in the second half. Pelican Rapids was able to come out on fire in the second half.


In the second half Pelican Rapids was able to get off to a fast start and they took control of the game early and they were a force to be reckoned with in the second half. Pelican Rapids was able to pull away in the victory.


The final of the game was HLWW 50 and Pelican Rapids 78.


They were just too aggressive for HLWW down the stretch. Pelican Rapids will face St Bernard’s for the Class AA championship.

CALEDONIA TOOK ON HOWARD LAKE WAVERLY WINSTED


Caledonia took on Howard Lake Waverly Winsted in the Class AA championship game. Caledonia looks to stay unbeaten as they take a 30-0 record in to the championship game. Howard Lake Waverly Winsted had a 29-3 record coming into the championship game.

Both of these teams got up and down the court quickly. Both teams went at each other in the first half. Howard Lake Waverly Winsted put up a lot of shots and they were making a third of them at the on start of the game.
Howard Lake was been doing a good job of spreading the ball around on the offensive end. No one person is shooting all of the shots.


Caledonia went on a run in the middle of the first half. Libby Augedahl had a good start to the game as she went after loose ball and was able to apply a ton of pursuer on the player she was guarding.


Both teams fought hard in the first half. Caledonia took a 35-22 lead into the half time break. Libby Augedahl had 14 points for Caledonia.


Caledonia applied three quarter pursuer on the defensive end to begin the second half. Libby Augedahl has really played well. She continued to lead her team in the second half.


Howard Lake Waverley Winsted continued to play hard on both ends of the floor. They were able to put together a small run in the second half.


Caledonia kept the pressure on Howard Lake Waverley Winsted the whole game. Howard Lake Waverley was able to put together a run and with 7:33 left to go in regulation the score was Howard Lake Waverley Winsted 42 and Caledonia 46.


This game went back and forth in the second half. Caledonia’s Aly Meyer came alive in the second half. She was able to make some shots in the second half. Her teammates were looking for her on the open lane and she would be the ball around the free throw line and make almost a free throw and she was left wide open on many different occasions.


This game came down to the end neither team gave up. Both of these teams were diving on the ground for loose balls.


Caledonia went to a 1-3-1 defensive style late in the game. They wanted to try to clog the middle of the court so Howard Lake couldn’t get the ball into the middle of the lane.


Howard Lake made a comeback late in the game. But they were not able to overcome it and Caledonia was able to hold on for the 54-50 victory. They had an undefeated season. They finished with a 31-0 record.

The leading scorer for Caledonia was Libby Augedahl she scored a game high 16 points. Aly Meyer also had a good game she came away with 14 total points in the contest.
