TEAM USA WINS THE FIBA 17U CHAMPIONSHIP

Team USA won the 17U division to win the 17U championship. Minnesota native Tyus Robert Jones scored 2 points in the championship game as the USA came away with the 95-62 victory over Australia.

Jones played 25:40 in the game. Jones shot 1-5 from the field that including going 0-2 from behind the three-point line. He brought down 4 defensive rebounds, Jones had 6 assists and 6 turnovers and he didn't commit a personal foul.

Through 8 games Jones averaged 8.5 points per game. 

TYUS ROBERT JONES SCORED 9 POINTS IN FIBA SEMI FINAL GAME

Tyus Robert Jones who is playing in the FIBA U17 World Championship for Men scored 9 points in the semi final game against Spain. Team USA came away with the 95-66 victory.

Jones was 2-6 from the field. That included going 1-2 from behind the three-point line. Jones went 4-6 from the free throw line. Jones dished out 4 assists.

Jones and Team USA will play Australia in the championship game for the FIBA U17 World Championship on Sunday July 8, 2012.

Through 7 games Jones is averaging 9.4 points per game.

 

USA BASKETBALL VS CZECH REPUBLIC IN THE FIBA U17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

According to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, “Apple Valley incoming junior point guard Tyus Jones had three assists and two points for the USA Basketball U17 team in its opening-game 89-67 victory over Australia at the FIBA U17 World Championship in Kaunas, Lithuania. Jones then scored 10 points with three assists in a 95-57 victory over the Czech Republic on Saturday.”
