EAGAN WENT UP AGAINST EDEN PRAIRIE IN THE CLASS AA STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Eagan and Eden Prairie squared off against each other in the Class AA state soccer championship game.

 

Eagan did a good job of moving the ball down the field and was able to get everyone involved in the offense.

 

Eden Prairie was able to move the ball down the field well.

 

Neither team could find the goal in the first half. At halftime the score was Eagan 0, Eden Prairie 0.

 

As the second half got under way both teams continued to look to score goals.

 

Eagan kept the ball moving down the field.

 

The game was tied at 0 after regulation. The game went into overtime.

 

In the overtime period both teams continued to move the ball down the field well.

 

Neither team scored in the first overtime period.

 

The game went into a second overtime period and neither team scored a goal so the game went into a shootout.

 

Eagan won the shootout by the score of 3-2. The final of the game was Eagan 1, Eden Prairie 0.

 

EAGAN WENT UP AGAINST MOUNDS VIEW IN THE GIRLS STATE SOCCER SEMIFINALS

Eagan and Mounds View squared off in a girls state soccer semifinal game at St. Cloud State University.

Eagan’s Sydney Flannery found the goal with 36:51 left in the first half.

With that goal that made the score Eagan 1, Mounds View 0.

Both teams looked to keep the ball in the middle of the field.

Mounds View’s Emily Boyer found the goal with 12 minutes left to go in the first half.

The score was tied at 1 at halftime.

Eagan’s Sydney Sherek scored a goal with 37:27 left in regulation. With that goal that made the score

Eagan 2, Moundsview 1.

Eagan continued to move the ball down the field and looked to score again. They did that on a Taylor Kenealy goal with 23:44 left in regulation.

Eagan scored again with 11:04 left in regulation. With that goal that made the score Eagan 4, Mounds View 1.

Mounds View’s Mariah Northrop scored a goal with 4:49 left in regulation. With that goal that made the score Eagan 4, Mounds View 2.

Eagan was able to move the ball down the field effectively throughout the game.

Eagan came away with the 4-2 victory over Mounds View.

EAGAN TOOK ON ANOKA IN A BOYS STATE SOCCER GAME

Eagan and Anoka went up against each other in the state boys soccer state quarterfinals at Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School.

 

Both teams did a good job of moving the ball down the field and getting everyone in the plays.

 

Anoka’s Donnie Guimont came up with a goal with 29:38 left in the first half.

 

Anoka Miguel Martinez-Urrutia came up with a goal with 28:54 left in the first half.

 

With both of those goals by Anoka that make the score Anoka 2, Eagan 0.

 

Eagan’s Ryan Conroy came up with a goal with 17:51 left in the first half.

 

With that goal that made the score Anoka 2. Eagan 1.

 

Both teams continued to attack the net late in the half.

 

In a very close game throughout the first half, at halftime the score was Anoka 2, Eagan 1.

 

As the second half got underway Eagan looked to move the ball down the field and were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

 

Neither team gave up easy shots on goals. Eagan was all over the field. They kept on attacking the net on the offensive end.

 

It was a hard fought game but in the end Anoka came away with the 2-1 victory over Eagan.

 

With that win Anoka will face Minneapolis Washburn in the state semifinals on November 2, 2015 at St. Cloud State University.

EAGAN WENT UP AGAINST PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 17 Eagan took on Prior Lake in a boys’ basketball game. Prior Lake passed the ball around 3-point line.

It took a while for each team to get into a scoring rhythm.

Prior Lake got the ball into the hands of Austin Heidecker and Connor Bair. They both were able to get to the basket and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a in the first half.

Prior Lake did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. Sam Schultze came up with 3-point baskets.

Eagan struggled to shoot the ball for a period of time in the first half. Even though they had trouble shooting the ball they weren’t afraid to shoot it.

At halftime the score was Prior Lake 50, Eagan 38.

As the second half got underway Eagan looked to get the ball into the hands of Chase Seiberlich. Seiberlich did a good job of getting to the basket and making layups and mid-range jump shots.

Eagan struggled to shoot the ball throughout the second half. Even though they struggled they kept on shooting the ball.

Eagan’s Bryndan Matthews came up with huge mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.

The score went back and forth throughout midway in the second half.

Prior Lake kept getting steals and came up with layups and jump shots late in the contest.

Eagan hung around as they didn’t back down. Prior Lake however came up with the 93-92 victory over Eagan.

The leading scorer for Eagan was Matthews with 46 points.

The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Schultz with 23 points, Bair 21 points, Heidecker with 15 points and McKernan with 14 points.

EAGAN WENT UP AGAINST ORONO IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

In the second game of the day Eagan took on Orono. The game got off to a slow start. Both teams took a while to figure out what the other team was doing.

Orono moved the ball down the floor well. They got everyone involved in the offense. Orono also did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and scoring baskets in transition.

Eagan had a hard time shooting the ball throughout the first half. They couldn’t hit shots that they put up.

Orono was quicker than Eagan in the first half. They did a good job of getting to the basket and making shots. Orono also did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense.

At halftime the score was Orono 34, Eagan 22.

As the second half got underway Orono continued to push the ball down the floor and swinging the ball around the 3-point line.

Eagan kept on struggled shooting the ball in the second half. Even though they struggled on the

offensive end they kept on shooting the ball.

Eagan’s Sam Schuberg came up with huge layups in the second half. Eagan played man-to-man defense in the second half. They wanted to put pressure on the Orono offense.

The score remained close throughout the game.

Orono came away with the 58-53 victory over Eagan.

EDEN PRAIRIE WENT UP AGAINST EAGAN IN THE CLASS AA GIRLS’ STATE SOCCER FINALS

Eden Prairie and Eagan went up against each other in the class AA state finals in the girls’ tournament.

It took a while for each of these teams to get used to each other. Both teams did a good job of getting after the ball.

Eagan’s Jade King did a good job of getting to the ball. If King thought that she had a clear shot on goal she would shoot it.

The Eden Prairie offense did a good job of getting the ball down the field. 

Eagan’s King found the back of the net as she scored a goal with 14:26 left in the first half.

With 14:26 left in the first half the score was Eagan 1, Eden Prairie 0. 

Both teams were evenly matched. There were many penalties throughout the first half.

Eagan’s goalkeeper Jordyn Clark came up with some huge saves late in the first half. 

At halftime the score was Eagan 1, Eden Prairie 0. 

As the second half got underway both teams continued to go after the ball.

There were many collisions as both teams went after the ball throughout the game. Multiple players had to get helped off the field. No one got hurt seriously however. 

Eagan came away with the 1-0 victory over Eden Prairie to win the class AA state girls soccer championship.

CENTENNIAL TOOK ON EAGAN IN A GIRLS STATE SOCCER SEMIFINAL GAME

Centennial and Eagan squared off in a girls’ soccer game. Centennial moved the ball down the field quickly in the first half.

Both teams did a good job of getting to the ball down the field.

The defenses stepped up as there was very little scoring chances in the first half.

Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first half. Neither team was quicker than the other.

With 2:55 left in the first half Eagan’s Sydney Flannery scored a goal on a free kick from 40 yards away. With that goal that made the score Eagan 1, Centennial 0. That was the score at halftime.

As the second half got underway Eagan continued to move the ball down the field.

Centennial was able to get some shots on goal but Jordan Clark came up with some nice saves.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. In the end Eagan came away with the 1-0 victory over Centennial.

PRIOR LAKE WENT UP AGAINST EAGAN IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 18 Prior Lake took on Eagan in a boys basketball game. Prior Lake was looked to get the ball into the hands of Jon Sobaski.

 

Sobaski was able to make his layups in the first half.

 

Eagan’s Michael Gorder made layups as he was able to get to the basket.

 

Prior Lake’s Sobaski and Jason Faul attacked the basket as they were able to make layups.

 

Prior Lake called a timeout 9:14 left in the first half. The score was Prior Lake 26, Eagan 12.

 

Prior Lake’s Lucas Olson was not afraid to draw contact as he took the ball to the basket.

 

Eagan was not able to hit shots they put up. Even though they had difficulty shooting the ball they were not able to get them to drop.

 

Prior Lake’s Nick Vanek was all over the floor. On the defensive end he was able to slow down the guy he was defending.

 

At halftime the score was Prior Lake 42, Eagan 20.

 

As the second half got underway Eagan stepped up their defensive pressure.

 

Eagan came out on fire to start the second half. Gorder and Bryndan Matthews stepped up and were able to knock down jump shots.

 

Prior Lake called a timeout with 12:06 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 44, Eagan 31.

 

Eagan continued to try to chip away at the deficit but they were not able to come up with baskets down the stretch.

 

Eagan called a timeout with 4:06 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 57, Eagan 41.

 

Neither team backed down but in the end Prior Lake came away with the 65-49 victory over Eagan.

 

EAGAN TOOK ON MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST IN THE BREAKDOWN FALL LEAGUE

Eagan went up against Minneapolis Southwest in the Breakdown Fall Basketball League. The game got off to a quick start as each team traded baskets in the opening minutes of the game.

Southwest passed the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock. They wanted to get Eagan out of the game.

Eagan did a good job of disrupting Southwest in the offensive end. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half.

At halftime the score was Eagan 33 and Southwest 28.

Southwest's Tyler Eric Wayne Porch was all over the floor. He got his teammates involved in the plays and was a vocal leader on the floor. Porch knew where his teammates were on the court at all times and got them involved in the offense.

The score went back and forth early in the second half as both teams traded baskets. Neither team went on a run.

Southwest didn't back down from the pressure that Eagan applied to them throughout the game. Eagan made it difficult for Southwest to get a good look at the basket. Eagan was also able to get the Southwest guards flustered as the pressure they applied kind of bothered the guards. The Southwest guards didn't back down from the pressure as they battled on every play and looked to get the ball to their teammates.

The game was close throughout and it came down to the wire. Eagan came away with the 63-62 victory over Southwest. 

THE EAGAN WILDCATS TAME THE MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH TIGERS IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Eagan took on Minneapolis South in a boys' high school basketball game. Eagan came into the game with a record of 3-3. South came into the game with a record of 2-5.

Both teams looked to set the tempo early in the contest. They each started in zone defense.

It took a while for each team to get into their scoring routine.

For South Mahari Wilson brought the ball down the court. He knew where his teammates were on the court and was able to get his teammates involved in the offense.

Thomas Edison Ford came up with a few steals and was able to get the ball out to Carnell Sheppard. Sheppard took the ball hard to the basket and was able to hit his shots.

Neither team went on a run in the early goings. Both teams went after rebounds on both ends of the court.

Eagan did a good job of not letting South get the ball into the paint. They were packing the middle of the zone it made it difficult for the South guards to make layups in the paint.

There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

Eagan called a timeout with 7:46 left in the first half. The score was South 25 and Eagan 20.

Isaiah Wilson took the ball hard to the basket for South. He was able to hit his shots.

South was able to control the tempo. Eagan was not able to go on a run.

At halftime the score was Eagan 45 and South 41.

The score continued to go back and forth throughout the second half.

South went to a pressing defense. They looked to and were able to get steals. South was able to score baskets after they stole the ball.

Both teams matched up well.

South called a timeout with 12:21 left in the game. The score was 55-53 with Eagan on top.

South was able to work the ball around the three-point line and take time off the clock. Wilson knocked down a three-point shot with a guy in his face.

Davide Ghersevich for South also was able to hit a long deep three-point shot to keep his team in the game.

Neither team was able to go on a run in the second half. The score remained fairly close the entire game.

Eagan came away with the 76-74 victory in a hard fought game over Minneapolis South. The leading scorer for Eagan was Nick Sabatke with 23 points. The leading scorers for South were Isaiah Wilson with 23 points and Carnell Sheppard with 21 points.

TROJANS START SLOW AND THEN TAME THE WILDCATS

Wayzata took on the Egan Wildcats at Wayzata High School on Tuesday night.

Wayzata had a hard time finding the basket in the early goings, so the Trojans depended on defense where Jamar Franks played very hard. He guarded Eagan’s point guard Charley Barker and it was quite a battle with each player trying to outwit the other.

Wayzata found the range after a slow started to dominate on both ends of the court and led 44-24 at the half.
Wayzata played a trapping defense and trapped the ball in the corners every time they get the chance. Kellen Taylor who has really become a good player and a Trojan leader played very well especially on defense.

The difference in the game was Wayzata’s Nolan Odland with 24 points, Jerrod Peterson with 16, and Eren Cur with 14. For Eagan Ryan Donovan tallied 22 points.

In the end Wayzata was too much for Eagan and ran away with a 76-61 win.
