ST. OLAF WENT UP AGAINST MACALESTER IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 18, St. Olaf and Macalester squared off in a men’s basketball game. The score went back and forth early. 

Macalester’s Nikhil Smith came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Macalester was able to get their shots to drop mid-way through the first half. 

Neither team gave up easy looks at the basket throughout the first half. 

St. Olaf called a timeout with 6:46 left in the first half. The score was Macalester 23, St. Olaf 17. 

St. Olaf went to a zone defense late in the first half. They wanted to make it difficult for Macalester to make shots late in the first half. 

Macalester called a timeout with 4:10 left in the first half. The score was Macalester 26, St. Olaf 20. 

Both teams pushed the ball down the floor as they looked for layups in transition. 

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half. 

At halftime, the score was Macalester, 35, St. Olaf 28.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to look to score layups in transition. 

Macalester called a timeout with 18:31 left in regulation. The score was Macalester 35, St. Olaf 31. 

Macalester did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and talked on both ends of the floor. 

St. Olaf’s Noah Beck came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. He was able to come off screens and get to the basket. 

Neither team went on a run in the second half. There were multiple ties and lead changes in the second half. 

St. Olaf’s Noah Beck and Dominic Bledsoe both provided an offensive spark on the offensive side of the floor. They both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

St. Olaf called a timeout with 12:25 left in regulation. The score was St. Olaf 48, Macalester 42. 

The game remained close throughout the second half. 

St. Olaf’s Troy Diggins Jr. came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Macalester called a timeout with 11:19 left in regulation. The score was St. Olaf 50, Macalester 43. 

St. Olaf’s Nate Albers came up with steals on the defensive end and turned them into layups on offense. The Macalester defense had a difficult time slowing him down on offense. 

Macalester had a tough time scoring the ball in the second half. Even though they had a difficult time making their shots they kept on shooting the ball. 

The defensive pressure that St. Olaf applied late in the game made if difficult for Macalester to make their shots in the second half. St. Olaf took advantage of those misses and came up with layups of their own on the offensive end. 

St. Olaf called a timeout with 3:32 left in regulation. The score was St. Olaf 68, Macalester 54. 

Macalester kept on attacking the basket looking for their shots late in the game. 

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Macalester couldn’t find their shooting rhythm early. They kept on shooting the ball throughout the game and didn’t give up. 

St. Olaf came away with the 75-60 victory over Macalester. 

The leading scorers for Macalester were Tyler McFarland with 15 points, and Gabriel Ramos with 13 points, and Jackson Henningfield with 12 points. 

The leading scorers for St. Olaf were Dominic Bledsoe with 24 points, Noah Beck with 16 points, and Nate Albers 11 points. 

ST. OLAF WENT UP AGAINST AUGSBURG IN A WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 4, St. Olaf went against Augsburg in a women’s Basketball game. Augsburg got out as they pushed the ball down the floor making layups in transition. 

St. Olaf had a hard time scoring baskets in transition early in the game. 

There was a media timeout with 1:58 left in the first quarter the score was Augsburg 22 St. Olaf 13. 

Augsburg continued to move the ball down the floor late in the quarter.

After one quarter the score was Augsburg 25 St. Olaf 16. 

As the second quarter got underway Augsburg continued to look to the basket and come up with mid-range jump shots and jumpers.

St. Olaf had a hard time making shots in the second quarter. Augsburg took advantage of that opportunity and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

St. Olaf couldn’t make a shot in the second quarter. They kept on shooting the ball, but they were not able to make shots that they put up. 

At halftime, the score was Augsburg 40, St. Olaf 27.

As the second half got underway Augsburg looked to get the basket into the basket. Neither team went on a run in the third quarter. 

Augsburg continued to make shots in the third quarter. St. Olaf didn’t give up how-ever as they looked around and looked to make mid-range jump shots. 

St. Olaf continued to make shots late in the third quarter. 

After three quarters of play, the score was Augsburg 57, St. Olaf 47. 

As the fourth quarter got underway Augsburg continued to look to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. 

St. Olaf looked to push the ball down the floor late in the fourth quarter. Even though St. Olaf couldn’t make shots they kept on shooting the ball.

Both teams played hard but in the end Augsburg came away with the 76-61 victory over St. Olaf. 

ST. OLAF WENT UP AGAINST AUGSBURG IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Sept. 28, St. Olaf College and Augsburg University went up against each other in a football game. Going into the game St. Olaf had an overall record of 3-0 while Augsburg had a record of 1-2.

St. Olaf kicked off to start. The ball went into the end zone and Augsburg started on their own 25-yard line. Augsburg starting quarterback was Quinn Frisell. Augsburg looked to move the ball down the field. Augsburg punted on 4th-and-5. There was a partial block. There was no return. 

St. Olaf started the drive on the Augsburg 45-yard line. St. Olaf kept the ball ground on their first drive. St. Olaf got the ball into the hands of Khayleb Willis who came up with a first down. St. Olaf started Lars Prestemon. St. Thomas used both the running and passing attack early. On 4th-and-13 St. Olaf punted the ball. 

Augsburg started their drive on their own 13-yard line. Augsburg’s Quran Al-Hameed. Al-Hameed was able to get past his defenders. The defensive pressure that St. Olaf applied made it difficult for Augsburg to get free looks down field. On 4th-and-20 Augsburg punted the ball. 

St. Olaf took over on the 50-yard line. Willis used his legs to run through the defense. St. Olaf punted on 4th-and-17. 

St. Olaf got the ball back as Augsburg fumbled the ball and St. Olaf recovered. St. Olaf kept on looking to push the ball down the field. Gabe Alada came up with a 33-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. 

With 3:33 left in the first quarter the score was St. Olaf 7, Augsburg 0. 

Augsburg took over on their won 42-yard line. Al-Hameed came up with the ball and pushed the ball down the field. Augsburg moved the ball down the field. Al-Hameed came up with a 30-yard run for a first down. On 4th-and-15 Augsburg attempted a 36-yard field goal which was no good. 

St. Olaf took over on their own 20-yard line. 

After one quarter of play the score was St. Olaf 7, Augsburg 0. 

St. Olaf came up with a 76-yard touchdown reception by Isaac Coutier. The extra point attempt was good.

With 14:49 in the second quarter the score was St. Olaf 14, Augsburg 0. 

Augsburg started on their own 12-yard line. Augsburg couldn’t move the ball down the field, and they punted on 4th-and-10.

St. Olaf’s Caleb Golberg came up with a 35-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

Augsburg looked deep down the field as they looked to move the ball down the field. Augsburg moved the ball down the field quickly. Mike Rodriguez came up with a 34-yard first down reception. 

Augburg’s Rodriguez came up with a 10-yard touch reception. The two-point conversion was not good. 

The score with 4:15 left in the third quarter was St. Olaf 35, Augsburg 12. 

Augsburg attempted an onside kick and Augsburg recovered it on their own 45-yard line. Augsburg looked down the field once again as they didn’t take long to get into the huddle. Augsburg Al-Hameed came up with a 25-yard run. Al-Hameed continued to move the ball down the field. 

Augsburg called a timeout with 2:35 left in the third quarter the score was St. Olaf 35, Augsburg 12. 

On 4th-and- 7 Augsburg came up with a 9-yard touchdown by Le’Andre Benion. The two-point attempt was not good. 

With 2:29 left in the third quarter the score was St. Olaf 35, Augsburg 18. 

St. Olaf took over on their own 49-yard line. Willis got the ball and looked to get down the field. Howard came up with a 9-yard run. 

After three quarters of play the score was St. Olaf 35, Augsburg 18. 

St. Olaf looked to get into the end zone as Willis came up with a huge run. Howard came up with a 1-yard touchdown run. There were offsetting penalties on both teams. The extra point attempt was good. 

With 13:00 left in the fourth quarter the score was St. Olaf 42, Augsburg 18. 

Augsburg took over on their own 25-yard line. Augsburg’s Quinn Frisell came up with a short run down the field. Augsburg kept the ball on the field as they moved the ball down the field. 

Chad Costello came in as quarterback for Augsburg. Josiah Ferguson came up with a 20-yard touchdown reception. The two-point conversion was good.

With 9:34 left in the fourth quarter the score was St. Olaf 42, Augsburg 26. 

St. Olaf took over on the Augsburg 47-yard line. Howard came up with a short reception. St. Olaf punted on 4th-and-11. 

Augsburg took over on their own 11-yard line. Augsburg moved the ball downfield through the air. 

Augsburg punted on 4th-and-4. The punt was blocked and there was a penalty on Augsburg. On 4th-and-4 Augsburg went for it and Augsburg came up empty handed and turned it over on downs. 

St. Olaf took over on the Augsburg 28-yard line. St. Olaf’s Jordan Embry came up with short runs as they looked to get into the end zone late in the fourth quarter. The defensive pressure made it difficult for St. Olaf to move the ball. Howard came up with a 7-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was blocked and was not good. 

With 1:45 left in regulation the score was St. Olaf 48, Augsburg 26. 

The ball went into the end zone and Augsburg started on their own 25-yard line. Augsburg kept the ball on the ground late. That run out the clock. 

Both teams played well throughout the game. 

St. Olaf came away with the 48-26 victory over Augsburg. 

ST. OLAF WENT UP AGAINST ST. THOMAS IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 11, it was a battle of the Saint’s as, St. Olaf and St. Thomas squared off in a men’s basketball game. St. Olaf looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.            

St. Olaf pushed the ball down the floor as they looked to score layups in transition. They could get everyone involved in the offense.

St. Olaf got the ball into the hands of Robert Tobroxen. Tobroxen took the ball hard to the basket as he looked to make mid-range jump shots and layups.

St. Thomas called a timeout with 13:48 left in the first half. The score was tied at 8.

Neither team went on a run early in the first half. There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

St. Olaf called a timeout with 8:23 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 18, St. Olaf 15.

St. Thomas stepped up and knocked down shots.

St. Olaf called a timeout with 7:00 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 24, St. Olaf 17.

St. Thomas’s Elijah Hannah came up with mid-range jump-shots and layups in the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could make it.

St. Thomas continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to make mid-range jump shots and layups late in the first half.

As the second half got underway St. Thomas continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition.

St. Olaf’s Robert Tobroxen was all over the floor. On the offensive end, he came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could make shots.

St. Olaf got the lead late on a Frank Delaney layups. Delaney was all over the boards. He could get rebounds on both ends of the floor.

St. Thomas called a timeout with 2:00 left to go in regulation. The score was St. Olaf 58, St. Thomas 53.

As time wound off the clock both teams continued to push the ball down the floor and come up mid-range jump shots and layups. The defensive pressure also stepped up late in the game.

St. Olaf came away with the 64-56 victory over St. Thomas.

The leading scorers for St. Thomas were Hannah with 13 points and Hannon with 12 points.

The leading scorers for St. Olaf were Albers with 17 points and Delaney with 16 points.

ST. OLAF WENT UP AGAINST ST. THOMAS IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 16 St. Olaf and St. Thomas squared off in a men’s college basketball game. Going into the game St. Olaf had an overall record of 20-3 and a conference record of 15-3 while St. Thomas had an overall record of 20-2 and a conference record of 15-2.

St. Thomas looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets early in the contest.

St. Olaf swung the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to take time off the shot clock. St. Thomas switched between man-to-man and zone defense. They were able to confuse St. Olaf.

St. Thomas looked to score layups in transition.

St. Olaf called a timeout with 14:37 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 9, St. Olaf 4.

St. Thomas’s Taylor Montero and Conner Nord came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. There teammates did a good job of getting the ball to them where they were able to score.

St. Olaf had a difficult time scoring midway through the first half.

St. Olaf called a timeout with 10:23 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 19, St. Olaf 10.

St. Thomas guard Marcus Alipate was able to get pas his defenders and looked to make mid-range jump shots and layups. He looked for his shot at the top of the key.

St. Thomas called a timeout with 7:36 left in the first half. The score was St. Thomas 21, St. Olaf 12.

Montero continued to come up with jump shots and layups late in the first half. Teammate Grant Shaeffer came up with deep 3-point baskets.

St. Thomas was able to slow down the St. Olaf offense in the first half.

At halftime the score was St. Thomas 35, St. Olaf 17.

As the second half got underway St. Olaf continued to attack the basket and came up with baskets. They started out hot and then cooled off considerably.

Both teams played very physical. They both battled for loose balls and rebounds.

St. Thomas spread the ball around the floor and was able to get everyone involved in the offense.

Alipate came up with some good passes as he was able to get to the basket and make layups and dribble through the defenders.

St. Olaf struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. St. Thomas jumped out to a huge lead early and St. Olaf couldn’t make shots throughout.

St. Thomas came away with the 66-49 victory over St. Olaf.

The leading scorers for St. Olaf were Caleb Lunning with 12 points and Sterling Nielsen with 10 points.

The leading scorers for St. Thomas were Remke with 14 points, and Alipate and Montero each with 10 points.
