QUINTON LEE HOOKER HAS BEEN NAMED 2013 MR. BASKETBALL FROM MINNESOTA

According to Ken Lien, of The Mr. Basketball of Minnesota Committee Quinton Lee Hooker has been named Mr. Basketball Minnesota.


The finalists were:

PARK CENTER TOOK ON EDINA IN THE STATE CLASS AAAA SEMIFINALS OF THE 2013 MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

In the last semifinals of class AAAA Park Center took on Edina high school. The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor.

At the first media timeout with 14:20 left in the first half the score was Edina 9 and Park Center 5.

Park Center looked to get the ball into the hands of Quinton Lee Hooker. Hooker was able to get to the baskets throughout the first half.

There was a media timeout with 10:38 left in the first half. The score was Park Center 13 and Edina 9 .

Park Center looked to control the tempo of the game early on the game. Park Center went on a 12-2 run with just over 9:00 left in the first.

Hooker continued to lead his team on the offensive end.

Park Center continued to get to the basket and get the ball into the hands of Hooker. Hooker was able to make some unbelievable plays.

Park Center was able to make lay-ups in transition. Park Center did a good job of slowing down the Edina offense. Park Center was able to come up with

There was a media timeout with 2:18 left in regulation. The score was Park Center 35 and Edina 20.

As the first have came to an end the score at halftime was Park Center 37 and Edina 22.

At halftime Hooker had 8 points.

As the second half got underway Hooker continued to lead his team on the floor and his teammates did a good job of letting his teammates know where they are supposed to be on the floor.

There was a media timeout with 13:34 left in regulation. The score was Park Center 43 and Edina 29.

The score continued to widen late in the contest. Edina didn't give up late in the contest.

Park Center continued to attack the basket late in the contest. Hooker continued to play well.

Park Center had the 60-39 lead over Edina with 3:24 left in regulation.

Park Center killed a lot of clock late in the contest. They were able to hold on to the 66-41 victory over Edina.

The leading scorer for Edina was Graham Woodward with 17 points.

The leading scorers for Park Center were Treyton Daniles wit 12 points, Devin Buckley with 13 points, Quinton Lee Hooker 13, Isaiah McKay with 14 points, 

APPLE VALLEY TOOK ON EDEN PRARIE IN THE SEMIFINALS OF TE 2013 STATE TOURNAMENT

Apple Valley and Eden Prairie went up against each other in the semifinals of the 2013 state tournament.

The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor. The score went back and forth throughout the opening minutes.

Apple Valley looked to get the ball into the hands of Tyus Robert Jones.

At the first media timeout with 14:28 left in the first half the score was Eden Prairie 6 and Apple Valley 5.

Jones was all over the floor. He had great court awareness and he knew where his teammates were at all times on the floor.

Jones was able to get to the basket and attack it and was able to make lay-ups.

Eden Prairie looked to get baskets in transition.

There was a media timeout with 9:51 left in the first half. The score was Eden Prarie 13 and Apple Valley 11.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. There were many ties and lead changes in the first half.

There was a media timeout with 6:56 left in the first half. The score was tied at 15.

Apple Valley did a good job of pushing the ball down the floor. They did a good job of making shots in transition.

Apple Valley called a timeout with 3:43 left in the first half. The score was Apple Valley 21 and Eden Prarie 17.

Jones continued to run the Apple Valley offense. He was able to get everyone involved in the offense.

At half time the score was Apple Valley 30 and Eden Prairie  22.

As the second half ot underway

At the first media timeout with 14:54 left in regulation the score was Apple Valley 35 and  Eden Prairie 28.

Jones was able to come up with some nice lay-ups in the second half.

There was a media timeout with 10:49 left in the game. The score was Apple Valley 41 and Eden Prairie 36.

Eden Prairie went on a 6-0 run midway through the second half.

Jones seemed to twist his ankle with 7:51 left in regulation and stayed in the game.

There was a media timeout with 6:44 left in regulation Apple Valley 47 Eden Prairie 45.

The score remained close till the end of the game.

Apple Valley continued to look sharp down the stretch. Eden Prairie seemed to run out of steam late in the contest.

Apple Valley came away with the impressive 62-55 victory over Eden Prairie .

The leading scorers for Apple Valley were Tyus Robert Jones with 23 points, Dennis Austin with 15 points, and Dustin Fronk with 11 points.

The leading scorers for Eden Prairie were Jack Cottrell with 15 points, Anthony Anderson with 11 points, and Grant Shaeffer with 12 points.

This was a fun game to do because the atmosphere was great throughout the contest. Both teams gave it there all throughout the game. 

MINNEAPOLIS DELaSALLE TOOK ON ST. PAUL JONSON IN THE SEMIFINALS OF THE 2013 MINNESOTA STATE TOURNAMENT

Minneapolis DeLaSalle and St. Paul Johnson went up against each other in the state semifinals at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

DeLaSalle was able to set the tempo early in the game. They didn't want to give up any easy baskets.

DeLaSallle was able to push the ball in transition. They were able to make lay-ups from steals and convert them on the offensive end.

At the first media timeout with 13:59 left in the first half the score was DeLaSalle 12 and St. Paul Johnson 5.

Johnson didn't give up on the offensive end. They did try to get into an offensive shooting rhythm. They did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line. They wanted to chip away at the deficit.

There was a media timeout with 10:36 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 21 and St. Paul Johnson 8.

Reid Travis was able to hit shots for DeLaSalle. Travis was not afraid to shoot the ball from any where on the floor.

Luke Scott was all over the floor. Scott was able to come up with some big baskets for his team.

Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls and rebounds on both ends of the floor.

Johnson looked to have a change the pace of the game with just under 7:00 left in the first half.

There was a media timeout with 6:43 left in the first half the score was DeLaSallle 33 and St. Paul Johnson 15.

DeLaSalle counted to look to push the down the floor. DeLaSalle looked to get the ball into the hands of Reid Travis. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could put the ball in the basket.

There was a media timeout with 3:39 left in the first half the score was DeLaSalle 39 and Johnson 20.

Travis came up with a with a nice two handed slam dunk late in the first half.

At halftime the score was DeLaSalle 47 and St. Paul Johnson 24.

As the second half got underway DeLaSalle continued to attack the basket. DeLaSalle continued to get the ball into Travis hands.

There was a media timeout with 13:22 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 58 and Johnson 33.

Johnson was not able to hit shots throughout the second half.

Travis came up with a nice two handed slam dunk and then came out as he cramped up.

DeLaSalle continued to shoot baskets as they were able to make them down the stretch.

DeLasalle was able to control the tempo throughout the contest. They came away with the 86-59 victory over St. Paul Johnson.

The leading scorers for DeLaSalle were Reid Travis with 30 points and Luke Scott with 20 points. The leading scorers for St. Paul Johnson were Quashingm Smith-Pugh with 17 points and Jalen Mobley with 16 points.

ANNANDALE TOOK ON BYRON IN THE STATE QUARTERFINALS OF THE 2013 MSHSL BOYS' BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Annandale and Bryon went up against each other in the state quarterfinals of the 2013 state boys' basketball tournament.

Bryon got out to a quick 14-8 lead with 11:45 left in the first half. Annaledale didn't back down however as they fought right back and were able to get within two points.

The game got close midway through the first half. The score went back and forth for a good portion of the first half.

Both teams played hard throughout the first half.

Annaledale got the lead late in the first half. They had a 23-16 lead with 5:40 left in the first half.

Bryon came up with some nice shots late in the first alf. They were able to stay in the game late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Annandale 33 and Byron 23.

As the second half got underway Bryon kept on attacking the basket. Tyler Coble was all over the floor for Byron. Coble was able hit shots from everywhere on the floor.

Both teams took a lot of time off the clock by swinging the ball around the three-point line.

Annaandale got the ball into the hands of Kyler Fobbe. Kyler Fobbe was able to find the basket with ease throughout the game.

Both teams seamed relaxed and calm throughout the game.

Annandale didn't give up any easy shots late in the contest. Annaandale came away with the 56-42 victory over Byron. 

PERHAM TOOK ON MINNEHAHA ACADEMY IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE 2013 MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL STATE TOURNAMENT

Perham and Minnehaha went up against each other in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Minnesota State High School League state tournament.

Minnehaha won the tip. They looked to set the tempo of the game early in the contest.

Minnehaha looked to get the ball into the hands of Thomas Gedion. Gedion was all over the floor on the offensive end. He was able to get shots that the put up.

Perham had a difficult time getting into an offensive shooting rhythm. They were not able to get shots that they put up to go in.

The scoring slowed down a little bit midway through the first half.

Perham seem to wake up midway through the first half as they went on a 5-0 run with just under 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Kaharri Carter was all over the floor. Carter was able to knock down some key shots throughout the first half for his team.

Minnehaha used both zone and man-to-man defense in the first half. They were able to slow down the Perham offense.

Perham made a run late in the first half.

Minnehaha called a timeout with 3:14 left in the first half. The score was Minnehaha 20 and Perham 17.

Perham didn't go away in the first half. They hung around as they kept on looking for different ways to attack the basket.

In a game that had a good tempo and feel for it from the start of the contest at halftime the score was Minnehaha 27 and Perham 24.

As the second half got underway the game continued to be close.

Minnehaha went on a run midway through the second half. Perham called a timeout with 5:43 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 43 and Perham 32.

Perham did try to make a come back late in the game. But that run came up short. Minnehaha was able to come away with the 53-41 victory over Perham.

ANDOVER TOOK ON EDNIA IN THE STATE QUARTERFINALS OF THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE TOURNAMENT

Andover and Ednia went up against each other in the quarterfinals of the state boys' basketball tournament.

Ednia looked to to get the ball into the hands of Reggie Joseph Lynch. Lynch is listed at 6 feet 9 inches tall and looked to get the ball inside the paint by the low box.

Ednia had a 9-5 lead with 14:00 left in regulation.

Andover looked to attack the basket throughout the first half. They looked to get easy baskets in the game but were not able to do that because of the Ednia defense.

Andover called a timeout with 10:34 left in the first half. The score was Ednia 23 and Andover 13.

Andover played mostly man-to-man defense in the first half. Ednia was able to beat the Andover pressure and was able to get to the basket.

Ednia was a little quicker then Andover in the first half.

Graham Woodward was all over the floor. He was able to get to the basket with ease throughout the half.

Reggie Joseph Lynch came up with a nice slam dunk late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Ednia 51 and Andover 27.

The second half started out on a bang as Ednia continued to show their offense presence as they were able to get lay-ups and jump shots with ease throughout the second half.

Woodward continued to attack the basket throughout the game. He was a major factor in the Ednia success in the contest.

Andover was not able to keep up with Ednia. Ednia came up with the 99-61 victory over Andover. 

LAKEVILLE NORTH TOOK ON PARK CENTER IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE 2013 MSHSL STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Lakeville North and Park Center went up against each other in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Minnesota State High School League state tournament.

Both teams looked like they were excited to play in the quarterfinals of the 2013 state tournament.

Park Center got out to a quick 8-1 lead with 14:14 left in the first half.

Lakeville North didn't get down on themselves as they were not able to hit shots in the first half.

Lakeville North called a timeout with 12:17 left in the first half. The score was 13-3 Park Center.

Park Center didn't shy away from shooting the ball as they were dead on from everywhere on the floor.

Park Center passed the ball around to everyone as everyone was involved in the offense. The ball usually got into the hands of Quinton Lee Hooker.

It was a very physical game both teams didn't give up any easy shots.

At halftime the score was Park Center 43 and Lakeville North 27.

As the second half got underway Park Center came out swinging. They kept on looking to get the ball into the hands of Hooker.

Park Center continued to get to the basket with ease. They did a good job of getting Hooker involved in the offense.

Park Center called a timeout with 8:27 left in regulation. The score was Park Center 54 and Lakeville North 48.

Lakeville North fought their way back in the game. They were able to make shots in clutch situations midway through the game.

Lakeville went on a run late in the contest. They were able to get within two points of Park Center with 2:00 left in regulation at 65-63.

It was a very hard fought game. All the fans stood for the last minute of the game.

The game was tied at 67 with 9.8 left in regulation.

In the overtime period both teams kept up the intensity that they had played with throughout the contest.

Park Center continued to get the ball into the hands of Hooker. He came up with some big plays throughout the game. 

Park Center did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock in the overtime period.

JP Macura nailed a shot from way behind the three-point line.

The game was tied with 30 seconds left in regulation.

Park Center called a timeout with 22.4 seconds left in the overtime period.

Park Center came away with the 74-72 victory over Lakeville North.

I thought that both teams played well. Hooker was all over the floor for Park Center. He lead his team on the offensive end as he was able to come up with some big plays for his team.

EDEN PRAIRIE TOOK ON WOODBURY IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE 2013 MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE BOYS' BASKETBALL STATE TOURNAMENT

Eden Prairie went up against Woodbury in the state quarterfinals of the 2013 Minnesota State High School League state tournament.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Both teams traded baskets for a good portion of the half.

Woodbury looked to get the ball into the hands of Renard Suggs. Suggs was all over the floor for the Royals.

Eden Prairie was plagued by foul trouble early on in the contest. Andre Wallace had good court awareness as he was able to get everyone involved in the offense and he stepped up and knocked down shots to keep his team in the game.

Eden Prairie went on a little run late in the first half. Woodbury didn't break down as they were able to hold their composure.

The game was close throughout the first half.

At halftime the score was Eden Prairie 33 and Woodbury 28.

Andre Wallace and Alex Ihrke for Eden Prairie did a good job of keeping their team in the game throughout the contest .

Woodbury didn't give up any easy shots. They were not able to slow down the Eden Prairie offense in the second half.

Woodbury made a run late in the game.

Both teams played hard throughout the contest.

Eden Prarie was able to hang on and come away with the 70-59 victory over Woodbury. 
 

BRAINERD TOOK ON APPLE VALLEY IN THE QUARTERFINALS OF THE 2013 MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL STATE TOURNAMENT

Brainerd and Apple Valley high schools went up against each other in the class AAAA state quarterfinals of the 2013 Minnesota State High School League state tournament at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Apple Valley won the tip to start the game. It took each team while to get into the flow of the game.

Brainerd got off to a quick start. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

Apple Valley called a timeout with 15:23 left in the first half. The score was Brainerd 11 and Apple Valley 6.

Apple Valley countinued to push the ball down the floor and they wanted to get the ball into the hands of Tyus Robert Jones.

Jones was all over the floor. He was able to blow by his defenders. He was able to score from everywhere on the floor.

Chris Bowman was able to hit his shots in the first half. Apple Valley had a hard time slowing him down in the first half.

Brock Bertam was able to keep his team involved in the offense. He was able to keep his team in an offensive grove.

Apple Valley called a timeout with 7:38 left in the first half. The score was Brainerd 24 and Apple Valley 17.

Dennis Austin for Apple Valley stepped up and was able to knock down shots inside the three-point line.

Brainerd called a timeout with 4:25 left in the first half, the score was Brainerd 29 and Apple Valley 23.

The score was close throughout the first half. Neither team gave up any easy baskets. Each team was able to go on a mini run and the other team was able to stay close to them.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half of play.

At halftime the score was Brainerd 36 and Apple Valley 34. Jones scored 4 points in the first half.

In the first half Brainerd shot 13-26 from the field while Apple Valley shot 12-26 from the field.

Apple Valley started out hot in the second half.

Brainerd called a time out with 16:31 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 41 and Brainerd 36.

Apple Valley went on a little run to start the second half.

Brainerd looked to slow down the tempo in the second half. They didn't want Apple Valley to go on a run in the second half.

Apple Valley continued to attack the basket throughout the second half. Brainerd didn't back down however as they kept the game close.

The game was tied at 56 with 9:06 left in regulation.

There were many ties and lead changes late in the contest.

The game was very physical. Both teams got a little chippy late in the contest. They were many hard picks set late in the contest.

The Brainard offense went stagnate for over 4:00 in the second half.

Brainard called a timeout with 3:45 left in regulation. The score was Apple Valley 68 and Brainerd 59.

Apple Valley hung on and was able to come away with the 81-67 victory over Brainerd.

The leading scorers for Brainerd were Marcus Comstock with 17 points, and Chris Bowman with 12 points.

Apple Valley was lead in scoring by Jones and Dennis Austin with 19 points each.

HOPKINS TOOK ON BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY IN THE CLASS AAAA STATE FINALS

Hopkins and Bloomington Kennedy went up against each other in the class AAAA state championship game.

The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor.

At the first media timeout the score was tied at 5 with 14:12 to go.

The game was very physical. Both teams dove on the floor as they went for loose balls and rebounds.

It was a very physical game. Neither team gave up easy baskets in the first half.

Kennedy got the lead midway through the first half.

Hopkins looked to get the ball up and down the floor quickly.

There was a media timeout with 3:48 left in the first half. The score was Kennedy 23 and Hopkins 20.

At halftime the score was Hopkins 28 and Kennedy 26.

As the second half got underway both teams looked to push the ball down the floor and get lay-ups on their respective end.

Kennedy didn't seem to be able to get into an offensive rhythm in the second half.

There was a media timeout with 9:53 left in regulation. The score was Hopkins 47 and Kennedy 28. Kennedy .

Hopkins was too over whelming for Kennedy in the second half.

Hopkins was able to come away with the commanding 68-45 victory over Bloomington Kennedy.

The leading scorers for Bloomington Kennedy were Jade Martin with 19 points and Jasmyn Martin with 7 points.

The leading scorers for Hopkins were Nia Coffey with 25 points and Taylor Anderson with 11 points.
