Minneota high school and Ada-Bourp took
on each other in the 2013 state high school state girls basketball championship game.
It took each team awhile to get into a
shooting rhythm in the first half. Ada-Bourp looked to get the ball
into the hands of Monica Vega. Monica Vaga was all over the floor.
She knew where she was susposed to be on the floor and was able to
get everyone involved in the offense.
At the first media timeout with 14:48
left in the first half the score was Minneota 3 and Ada-Bourp 0.
Even though that Ada-Bourp was not able
to hit shots at the start of the contest they kept on attacking the
glass.
Adad-Bourp strung some baskets together
as they were able to find the basket on lay-ups.
There was a media timeout with 10:54
left in the first half. The score was Minneota 10 and Ada-Bourp. 8.
Shelby Corbin picked up her third foul
with 10:54 left in the first half.
Ada-Bourp came alive after the timeout
as they were able to get some steals and and turn them into lay-ups.
Adad-Bourp also did a good job getting everyone involved in the
offense.
The score went back and forth for a
period of time in the first half. Neither team gave up easy shots.
There was a media timeout with 6:23
left in the first half. The score was Minneota 18 and Ada-Bourp 15.
Both teams dove on the floor after
loose balls and they were all over the rebounds. I thought that both
teams played very hard and good throughout the first half.
There were several ties and lead
changes in the first half.
There was a media timeout with 3:57
left in the first half. The score was Minneota 19 and Ada-Bourp 22.
Ada-Bourp countinued to attack the
basket late in the firsth half.
In a action packed first half at the
halftime break the score was Ada-Bourp 29 and Minneota 27.
Minneota brought down a total of 22
rebounds 11 on offense and 11 on defense. Ada-Bourp brought down 1
offensive rebound and 7 defensive rebounds for a total of 8 rebounds.
As the second half got underway both
teams continued to race up and down the floor. Minneota started out
on a 13-2 run to start the second half.
There was a media timeout with 13:41
left in regulation. The score was Minneota 36 and Ada-Bourp 31.
Minneota looked to get the ball into
the hands of Taylor Reiss. Reiss was able to make both lay-ups and
jump shots
There was a media timeout with 10:24
left in the contest the score was tied at 36.
Both teams were able to go on runs at
different points in the contest.
Minneota turned the ball over and
Ada-Borup was able to score on the turn overs.
There was a media timeout with 6:47
left in the first half. The score was Minneota 44 and Ada-Bourp 43.
Both teams tried to out smart each
other.
The game came down to the wire.
Minneota came away with the 61-51 victory and won the class A state
title.
The leading scorers for Adad-Bourp were
Megan Kolness with 12 points and Heidi Eggen with 11 points.
The leading scorers for Minneota were
Taylor Reiss with 30 points, Payton Boerboom with 13 points and Emily
Stienessen with 11 points.
