DeLaSalle got off to a quick start they
had a 6-0 lead at the first media timeout with 14:46 left in the
first half.
Red Wing was not able to find the
basket early in the contest and then they rattled off 5 straight
points.
Both teams seem a little nervous coming
out of the game. Tyseanna Johnson was all over the floor. She was
able to hit shots from where ever she wanted to throughout the first
half.
DeLaSalle was able to push the ball down
the court in a hurry.
There was a media timeout with 3:38
left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 25 and Red Wing 17.
DeLaSalle was able to get baskets in
turn overs.
Red Wing started off slow but was able
to fight their way back into the game.
Red Wing went on a 10-0 run late in the
first half. They tied the game at 28 on a MaKenna Schaffer tree throw
late in the first half.
The score at halftime was DeLaSalle 30
and Red Wing 28.
Red Wing shot 11-24 from the field and
DeLaSalle shot 12-38 from the field.
As the second half got underway
DeLaSalle continued to look to push the ball down the floor.
At the first media timeout with 14:50
left in the second half the score was DeLaSalle 34 and Red Wing 30.
DeLaSalle trapped Red Wing and they
wanted to turn it over.
Red Wing continued to attack the
basket and look for their shots.
There was a media timeout with 10:23
left in regulation. The score was was DeLaSalle 42 and Red Wing 38.
DeLaSallle ran set plays everyone knew
where everyone was supposed to be on the floor.
There was a media timeout with 6:52
left in regulation the score was DeLaSalle 49 and Red Wing 42.
The game came down to the
wire.
DeLaSalle was able to hang
on and come away with the 65-50 victory and they won the class AAA
state championship game.
The leading scorers for
Red Wing were Macy Kelly with 17 points, Tesha Buck with 13 points
and McKenzie Mulken with 13 points.
The leading scorers for
DeLaSalle were Tyseanna Johnson with 25 points and Allina Starr with
20 points.
