MINNESOTA HEAT TOOK ON MINNESOTA MAGIC IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

In a 17u boys' basketball game the Minnesota Heat took on the Minnesota Magic. Minnesota Heat used a full court press early on to try to get Magic out of the game and set the tempo.

The Heat caught fire midway through the first half as they were able to hit shots with ease.

The Magic players didn't get down on themselves as they kept on shooting the ball and taking it hard to the basket.

The pace of the game got quicker as the half progressed.

Minnesota Magic guard Joey Curtis Sonneyfield was all over the court. On the offensive end he called for the ball on the low block. He was able to hit a little jump shot from the low block.

At halftime the score was Minnesota Heat 34 and Minnesota Magic 25.

Minnesota Heat came out in a zone defense to start the second half. They really wanted to spread the Magic offense out as they could and make it hard for them to shoot the ball. The Magic also came out in a zone defense.

Minnesota Magic made a run to start the second half. They were able to get to within three points of the Heat.

The score went back and forth for a good portion of the second half. Neither team gave up easy shots.

Minnesota Magic went to a motion offense. They used a lot of passing and cutting to get their players open. That made them use a lot of time off of the clock. Magic was able to get shots out of the offense.

Minnesota Magic went on a run with just under 9:00 left in regulation. The Heat still were in the game though as they didn't back down. Magic did miss a few shots and the Heat took advantage as they were able to make a few baskets in a row.

The Heat went to a full court press with just 3:00 left in the game. The Minnesota Magic was able to break the press and still score baskets.

The Minnesota Magic was able to hold on and come away with the 76-63 victory over the Minnesota Heat in a hard fought game.

IRONDALE TOOK ON OSSEO IN A REGIONAL BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Irondale took on Osseo at Rogers High School in the Region 5AAAA boys' basketball game.
 

Osseo looked to set a quick tempo to the game from the start. They passed the ball around the threepoint line to take as much time off the clock as they could.
 

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run in the early goings.
 

Irondale's Bryan Sprang came out on fire. Sprang scored the first nine points for Irondale. On the
defensive end he played tough defense.
 

Irondale tied the game up at 12 points with 8:30 in the first.
 

Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld stepped up and was able to knock down his free throws.
 

Osseo did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. Everyone on the court touched the
ball before they shot it. Osseo mostly used a motion offense. There was a lot of movement by everyone
on the court.
 

The first half scoring went back and forth. The shooting of Bryan Sprang kept Irondale in the game.
 

At halftime the score was Irondale 31 Osseo 28.
 

Irondale started the second half in a zone defense. They mostly used zone in the first half. Irondale
didn't back down to Osseo’s pressure.
 

Neither team went on a run. The defense pressure that each team applied was very tough by each team.
 

The game was very physical. Both teams dove on the ground after loose balls.
 

Osseo's DJ Hebert was all over the court. He took the ball hard to the basket on the offensive end.
 

The score was close throughout the second half. Neither team went on a run in the second half.
 

Irondale called a timeout with 7:50 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 46 and Irondale 41.
 

VanPelt continued to take the ball strong to the basket. He was not afraid to draw contact. On the
defensive end VanPelt was able to slow down his man.
 

Osseo pulled away late in the contest. They were able to come way with the 66-56 victory over
Irondale.
 

The leading scorer for Irondale was Bryan Sprang with 39.The leading scorers for Osseo were Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld with 26 points and Terez Wayne VanPelt with 20 points.

PARK CENTER TOOK ON OSSEO IN A QUARTERFINAL BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Park Center traveled to Osseo for the Region 5 Class AAAA quarterfinal basketball game.
 

Osseo started the game out in a man-to-man defense. They looked to apply as much pressure on Park
Center as they could.
 

Both teams had a hard time getting their offensive going. Neither team could make a shot.
 

Osseo looked to take their time on the offensive end.
 

Park Center mostly used a zone defense. They looked to slow Osseo down when they had the ball.
 

Osseo called a timeout with 10:39 left in the first half. The score was Osseo 6 and Park Center 5.
 

Park Center looked to get the ball into the hands of Quinton Lee Hooker. Hooker was all over the court.
 

He knew where his teammates were on the court. He did a good job of getting them involved in the
plays.
 

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run.
 

Hooker was able to drive to the basket uncontested. He was able to knock down some shots that kept
Park Center in the game.
 

Osseo switched between zone and man-to-man defense. That confused Park Center.
 

Park Center didn’t back down to the Osseo’s pressure. They kept on fighting back.
 

Park Center called a timeout with 1:14 left in the half. The score was Osseo 18 and Park Center 16.
 

Osseo wanted to control the tempo on the last play and go on a run to end the half.
 

In a low scoring first half, the halftime the score was Osseo 25 and Park Center 16.
 

As the second half got underway Osseo came out on fire. They were able to hit their shots that they
were putting up.
 

Park Center had a hard time making their shots.
 

Park Center called a timeout with 16:16 left in regulation with the score Osseo 30 and Park Center 21.
 

Park Center continued to look for Hooker. After that timeout Park Center went on a run.
 

Osseo still continued to look to push the ball down the court. They were also able to score baskets in
transition.
 

Osseo's Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld found his shot in the second half. Osseo also looked to get Darren

James Herbert the ball. Herbert took the ball strong to the basket and was able to sink some of his
shots.
 

Osseo went into their motion offense. They had a lot of movement with the basketball. Whoever had an
open shot was free to shoot the ball.
 

Park Center didn't back down. They kept fighting throughout the half. They got the score within 10 at
43-33 with 7:57 left to go.
 

Hooker let the ball fly from anywhere on the court. He was on from anywhere on the court. Herbert and
Hooker guarded each other.
 

Osseo took a timeout with 6:25 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 45 and Park Center 35.
 

Park Center made a late run with 6:00 left in the half. They looked to cut into the lead.
 

VanPelt got the ball and he was able to create a good pass to Sonnenfeld. Sonnenfeld finished the play.
 

VanPelt did a good job of getting the ball to teammates who were open.
 

Park Center trapped Osseo and that gave Osseo some problems. Osseo called a timeout with 2:13 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 53 and Park Center 39.
 

Osseo continued to take as much time off the clock as they could on the offensive end.
 

Osseo came away with the 57-43 quarterfinal victory over Park Center.
 

Osseo was lead in scoring by DJ Herbert with 17 points, Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld with 14 points and
 

Terez Wayne VanPelt with 13 points. Park Center was lead in scoring by Quinton Lee Hooker with 17
points and Kevin Handy with 11 points.

#10 CHAMPLIN PARK TOOK ON #2 OSSEO IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL CONTEST

The Champlin Park Rebels took on the Osseo Orioles in a boys' basketball game at Osseo. Coming into the game Champlin Park had a record of 18-3 overall and 14-2 in the conference. They were ranked #10 in the state in Class AAAA. Osseo had a record of 21-2 overall and were 16-1 in the conference.
 

Champlin Park started the game out in a man-to-man defense. They wanted to try to get Osseo out of
rhythm. That didn't work however. Osseo was able drive hard to the basket.
 

Both teams looked to push the ball down the court. They both had trouble scoring the ball. It took each
team a while go get into their offensive grove.
 

Champlin Park's T.J. Okafor took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to make a short little jump
shot.
 

Osseo's Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld took his defender off the dribble. He was able to make his shot from
just inside the top of the key. Sonnenfeld found Terez Wayne VanPelt driving to the basket and VanPelt
was also able to make some shots.
 

Both teams took their time on the offensive end. Osseo did a good job of swinging the ball around the
three-point line. That made Champlin Park have to come out and guard Osseo out behind the threepoint
line.
 

Champlin Park stayed in a zone defense for most of the first half. Osseo did a good job of attacking the
gaps in the defense.
 

Osseo called a timeout with 6:17 with the score Champlin Park 20 and Osseo 14.
 

After the timeout Osseo picked up their men at half court. The pace of the game was quick throughout
the half. Osseo liked the quick pace. Osseo had an easy time making their shots.
 

Champlin Park called a timeout with 2:53 left with the score Champlin Park 24 and Osseo 22.
 

Both teams continued to chew time off the clock.
 

At halftime the score was Champlin Park 30 and Osseo 24.
 

Champlin Park came out of the halftime break in a zone defense. They continued to pressure Osseo on

On the offensive end Champlin Park did a hood job of getting the ball out of the net and getting the ball
to the other end of the court.
 

With 14:06 left to go in regulation Osseo called a timeout the score was Champlin Park 41 and Osseo

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. Both teams were very aggressive.
 

Champlin Park did a good job of trapping Van Pelt. Van Pelt turned the ball over because of the defense that Champlin Park used.
 

Osseo called a timeout with 11:38 left. The score was Champlin Park 43 and Osseo 34.
 

Osseo went on a run after the timeout. They didn't back down to Champlin Park’s suffocating zone
defense.

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. There were many jump balls throughout the game.
 

Champlin Park's zone defense caused Osseo problems all game long. Okafor was all over the court. 

He continued to take the ball hard to the basket late in the contest.

Okafor nailed a shot just inside the top of the key.

VanPelt stepped up big as he drained a deep three-point shot to bring Osseo within two points of
Champlin Park.
 

Okafor fouled out with 9 points with 1:33 left in regulation.
 

Champlin Park called a timeout with 1:08 left to go the score was Champlin Park 54 and Osseo 51.
 

The game came down to the final minute. VanPelt scored a basket with 30.9 seconds left to go to bring
Osseo within a point.

Neither team was able to score a basket. With 15.5 seconds left in regulation Champlin Park called a

timeout with the score still Champlin Park 54 and Osseo 53.
 

Champlin Park had the ball under the Osseo basket and they had a five second call on them and they
turned the basketball over to Osseo with 15.5 left to go.
 

VanPelt scored a jump shot at the buzzer to give Osseo the 55-54 victory over Champlin Park.
Both teams played extremely well throughout the game.

points. The leading scorers for Osseo were Terez Wayne VanPelt with 18 points and Joey Curtis
Sonnenfeld had 15 points.

#2 OSSEO TOOK ON MAPLE GROVE IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Osseo traveled to Maple Grove for a boys' basketball game. Maple Grove came into the game with a
record of 12-8. Osseo came into the game with a record of 20-2. Osseo was ranked #2 in the state in
Class AAAA. In their first meeting on January 13, 2011 Osseo came away with the 58-53 victory over Maple Grove.

Maple Grove started the game off in a tight man-to-man defense. They looked to slow Osseo down.

Osseo wanted to set the tempo in their favor early in the game. Osseo looked for a quick up and down
fast pace type of game.

Osseo called a time out with 14:49 time left in the first half. The score was Maple Grove 5 and Osseo
0.

Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld scored the first Osseo basket with 12:40 left in the first half. Sonnenfeld
received a technical foul for apparently elbowing another player.

Osseo went on a run after that technical foul.

Maple Grove went to a zone defense. They looked to spread Osseo out.

Terez Wayne VanPelt found his shot midway through the first half. He was able to pull up and hit a
mid-range jump shot.

Osseo continued to push the ball down the court as they looked to score baskets in transition.

Osseo was able to catch up to Maple Grove. VanPelt scored a two-point basket with 6:00 left to give

Osseo a 16-15 lead. It was their first lead of the game.

Osseo continued to make shots late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Osseo 25 and Maple Grove 20.

As the second half got underway Maple Grove came out on fire. They continued to shoot the ball well.

Sonnenfeld continued to shoot the ball well. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the
court.

VanPelt continued to run the Osseo offense. He instructed his teammates where they should be on the court. On the defensive end he was able to slow down his opponent.

Maple Grove took a timeout with the score Osseo 42 and Maple Grove 29.

Maple Grove stayed in their zone defense. They mostly used zone in the second half. Osseo did a good job of shooting the gaps in the defense.

Both teams dove on the ground after loose balls. There were a lot of tie-ups for loose balls.

Michael Fischer for Osseo did a good job on the offensive end. He was able to get his teammates
involved in the play.

Osseo called a timeout with 6:48 left in regulation with the score Osseo 49 and Maple Grove 35.

Brycen Wojita for Maple Grove played well on both ends of the court. He was able to fluster the Osseo players.

Osseo came away with the 67-51 victory over Maple Grove.

Bryce Wojta was Maple Grove’s leading scorer with 21 points. The leading scorers for Osseo were

Terez Wayne VanPelt with 15 points, Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld with 14 points, and Bridge Tusler with 10 points.

OSSEO TOOK ON PARK CENTER IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Osseo traveled to Park Center for a boys' basketball game. Osseo came into the game with a record of 18-2 and were ranked #2 in Class AAAA. Park Center came into the game with a record of 7-11.
 

The game started out on a fast pace. Each team looked to get the ball out of the net and get to the other end as quickly as possible.
 

Osseo started the game in a man-to-man defense.
 

Park Center wanted to get the ball into the hands of Quinton Lee Hooker. Hooker was all over the
court.
 

Osseo started out on fire was they went on a 7-0 run to begin the game. Park Center scored their first
basket with just under 15:00 left to go.
 

Terez Wayne VanPelt found the basket early for Osseo. He was able to make his shots that he put up.
 

Park Center was not afraid to shoot the ball in the first half. They shot the ball from everywhere on the court.
 

Osseo took their time on the offensive end. They used a lot of time off the clock in the first half
looking for and getting their shots.
 

Danny Rodenberg for Park Center took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to make his shots that he put up and was also able to get to the foul line.
 

Park Center went on a run late in the half. They were able to slow down Osseo on the offensive end.
 

At halftime the score was Osseo 35 and Park Center 30.
 

As the second half got underway Osseo game out on fire. They looked to slow the ball down and work the ball around the three-point line.
 

Park Center continued to get the ball into the hands of Hooker. Hooker was able to find the basket with ease. His teammates kept looking for him to score.
 

VanPelt continued to take the ball hard to the basket.
 

Park Center battled throughout the second half.
 

Both teams we very aggressive throughout the game.
 

Park Center went on a run late in the game. Osseo had a 58-53 lead with 2:00 left to go in regulation.
Hooker continued to attack the basket late in the game.
 

The game came down to the wire. With 48.5 seconds left to go in regulation the score was Osseo 60
and Park Center 57.
 

There were many hard fouls by Park Center with under a minute in the game.
 

Osseo was able to come away with the 64-57 victory over Park Center.
 

The leading scorers for Park Center were Kevin Handy with 15 points, Quinton Lee Hooker and
Treyton Daniels with 13 points each.

The leading scorers for Osseo were Terez Wayne VanPelt with 20 points, and Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld
with 15, and Michael Brush with 10 points.

THE #5 OSSEO ORIOLES TOOK ON THE BLAINE BENGALS IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

The Osseo Orioles traveled to Blaine for a boys' basketball contest. Osseo came into the game with a
record of 17-2 and were raked #5 in the state in Class AAAA. Blaine came into the game with a record of 10-7. The first time these teams met back on Tuesday December 21, 2010 and Blaine came awaywith the 61-53 victory over Osseo.

Osseo stared the game in a man-to-man defense. They looked to apply full court pressure to Blaine
from the start of the game. Blaine also started out the game playing man-to-man defense.
 

Both teams got hot on the offensive end at the start of the game. Each team was able to match each
other’s scoring.
 

Osseo took their time on the offensive end. They wanted to take as much time off the clock as they
could.
 

Osseo's Terez Wayne VanPelt found the basket early in the game. His teammates knew where he was on the floor. They were able to feed him the ball near the top of the key where VanPelt was able to
make a turnaround jump shot.
 

Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld of Osseo was able to make his shots.
 

Blaine looked to get the ball into the hands of Tanner Schumacher. Schumacher's shot was dead on
from all over the court.
 

The score went back and forth midway through the first half.
 

Blaine called a timeout with 7:27 left to go in the first half. The score was Osseo 24 and Blaine 21.
 

Osseo looked to score baskets in transition. As soon as they were able to get the ball out of the Blaine
net they looked to bring the ball the other way as soon as possible.
 

Schumacher was able to drain some long three-point shots late in the half.
 

Osseo took at timeout with 4:14 left to go in the first half. The score was tied at 28 each.
 

Both teams continued to go after each other late in the half.
 

At halftime the score was tied at 26.
 

As the second half got underway both teams came out fired up. Osseo went on a little run to start out
the half.
 

Bridge Tusler stepped up big for Osseo in the second half. He was able to get a few good stops on the defensive end.
 

Osseo's Micheal Fischer stepped up and nailed a few deep three-point shots in the second half. That
kept Osseo in the game.
 

Fischer also had a few nice drives to the baskets that he was able to make.
 

Blaine went on a run with just under 6:00 left to go in regulation. They were not able to catch Osseo.
 

The game got very physical at the end. Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls.
 

There was a lot of emotion displayed throughout the game. Osseo came away with the 87-72 victory
over Blaine.
 

The leading scorers for Osseo were Terez Wayne VanPelt with 20 points, Joey Curtis Sonnenfeld 19,
and Ian Theisen and Bridge Tusler with 12 points each. The leading scorers for Blaine were Zach
Romashko with 29 points and Tanner Schmacher with 23 points.
