BROOKLYN CENTER WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 13, Brooklyn Center and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game, Brooklyn Center had a record of 1-7 while Richfield had a record of 12-0.

Both teams looked to push the ball down the floor and get into their offense early.

Brooklyn Center looked to get everyone involved in the offense. They took a lot of time off the 35-second clock by swinging the ball around the 3-point line.

Richfield looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. Richfield’s Adin Inda came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. If Inda didn’t think that he had a good shot, he wouldn’t be afraid to pass it to one of his teammates.

Brooklyn Center struggled to shoot the ball midway through the first half. Even though they struggled shooting the ball, they kept on attacking the basket throughout the first half.

Richfield looked to make layups in transition and on fast breaks. Richfield’s Tryce Haglar came up with layups. On the defensive end, he was able to slow down the guy that he was guarding.

Brooklyn Center’s guard Davion Hall was all over the floor. On the offensive end he was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He actively communicated and made his presence known on both offense and defense.

The game remained competitive for just the first five minutes, after which Richfield secured an 88-60 win over Brooklyn Center.

BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 8, Bloomington Kennedy and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game, Kennedy had a record of 6-6. Richfield came into the game with a record of 10-0.

Both teams looked like they could push the ball down the floor and score in transition.

 
Richfield started the game out in a zone defense. Kennedy started the game out in a man-to-man defense.

Richfield’s Waleed Muhammad came up with mid-range jump shots and layups early in game. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. Teammate Adin Inda also came up with layups.

Kennedy looked to score baskets in transition. They looked to push the ball down the floor and take quick shots.

Kennedy struggled shooting the ball mid-way through the first half.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Kennedy struggled with shooting the ball throughout the game. Even though they struggled to shoot the ball, they didn’t give up and kept attacking the basket. Richfield used their quickness to get the ball down the floor quickly.

RICHFIELD WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 27, Richfield and Minneapolis South went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game, Richfield had a record of 20-5, while South’s record was 11-4.

Both teams looked to set the tempo early in the game.

South started the game in a man-to-man defense. They looked to put pressure on Richfield as they brought the ball down the floor.

Richfield started the game in a zone defense; they did not want to give South an open look at the basket.

South called a timeout with 16:10 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 8, South 3.

Both teams looked to score baskets in transition.

South could not get their offense going early. It took them a while to get it going offensively.

Richfield swung the ball around the 3-point line as they looked to take time off the 35-second shot clock. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense. Richfield looked for their shots around the 15-10 seconds left on the shot clock.

Richfield’s Dre Collins came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. South had a tough time defending him.

South’s Anas Mohmed came up with layups. He did a good job of calling for the ball in spots where he knew he could shoot it.

South’s De’Amontre Scott came up with 3-point shots. He was able to come off screens and get good looks at the basket. If Scott didn’t think he could make a good shot, he would pass it to one of his teammates. South did a decent job of communicating with everyone on the floor.

As the second half got underway, Richfield looked to get the ball into the hands of Adin Inda, Tyrece Hagler, and Collins.

South continued to move the ball around the 3-point line as they looked for their shots. Even though South struggled shooting the ball they continued to look for their shots.

Richfield was quick in transition. They quickly got past the South defense and drove to the basket.

Ibrahim continued to produce baskets in the second half. His teammates were able to get him the ball where he could make shots.

Richfield continued to use their quickness to get to the basket. South struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. Even though South struggled shooting, they didn’t give up, and they played hard throughout the game.

South’s Eugene Brown came up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the game.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. South didn’t give up at all.

Richfield guard CJ Armstrong was injured and remained on the bench to provide support without suiting up for the game.

On Feb. 11, Bloomington Kennedy and Richfield went up against each other in a boys' basketball game. Going into the game Kennedy had a record of 5-14 while Richfield’s record was 16-4. The first time these two teams went up against each other Richfield came away with the 91-72 win on Jan. 9.

Richfield looked to push the ball down the floor early. Richfield looked to trap Kennedy as they brought the ball down the floor.

Richfield looked to get everyone involved in the offense as they passed the ball around the 3-point line. They were able to take time off the 35-second shot clock.

Kennedy’s Malik Johnson took the ball strong to the basket as he was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Richfield looked to get the ball into the hands of CJ Armstrong. Armstrong was all over the floor. He was able to get his teammates involved in the offense, and if he got a good look at the basket, he would pass it to one of his teammates.

Kennedy’s Sont Lajeunesse-Wood came up with deep 3-point shots. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Richfield used a zone defense. That made Kennedy swing the ball around the 3-point line.

Richfield did a good job of clogging the lanes and creating spacing issues for Kennedy on offense.

Kennedy struggled shooting throughout the game. Even though they struggled to shoot the ball, they didn’t give up on themselves and fought hard throughout the game.

DELASALLE WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 4, Minneapolis DeLaSalle and Richfield squared off in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game, DeLaSalle had an overall record of 16-2, while Richfield’s was 13-4. It was senior night at Richfield. They were recognized before the game.

Both teams looked to push the ball down the floor early. DeLaSalle swung the ball around the 3-point line as they got everyone involved in the offense.

It took a while for each team to get into a shooting rhythm. It was a fast-paced game early.

Richfield applied a full-court press as they looked to slow down the DeLaSalle offense.

Richfield’s CJ Armstrong came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

After a slow start offensively for DeLaSalle, their offense started rolling. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

Richfield’s Dre Collins came up with layups off screens in the paint. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could make shots.

The game came down to the wire. Both teams played hard, and it was an intense battle.

On Feb. 6, Cooper and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game.

Richfield looked like they wanted to set the tempo early. They pushed the ball down the floor.

Both teams turned the ball over early. Neither team got into a shooting rhythm early. Richfield’s
CJ Armstrong came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half to keep Richfield
in the game.

Cooper looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.

There were multiple ties and lead changes in the first half.

On Jan. 16, Bloomington Kennedy and Richfield squared up against each other in a boys’
basketball game. The game was played at Richfield High School. Kennedy came in with a record
of 3-10 while Richfield came into the game with a record of 5-7.

Kennedy pushed the ball down the floor early and took a lot of time off the 35 second shot clock.

They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

Richfield got the ball into the hands of guard CJ Armstrong. Armstrong came up with mid-range
jump shots and layups. His teammates were not afraid to get him the ball in spots where he was
able to make shots.

There were multiple ties and lead changes early. Neither team went on a run early on.
Richfield looked to trap the ball and looked to create turnovers and come up with layups on the
offensive end.

Armstrong called for the ball and was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups
throughout the first half.

Kennedy’s Ryan Sheehan came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. The
Richfield defense had a difficult time slowing him down on the defensive end.

Richfield’s Zaiver Hayes came up with 3-point shots to keep his team in the game.
Richfield took a lot of time off the 35 second shot clock. They looked to shoot the ball with 10-
15 seconds left on the shot clock.

As the second half got underway, both teams pushed the ball down the floor. The game
remained close.

Richfield’s Zavier Hayes came up with 3-point shots in the second half that kept Richfield in the
game.

Richfield was able to make baskets in transition. Armstrong came up with 3-point shots
throughout the second half.

Even though Kennedy struggled shooting the ball in the second half they did not give up looking
for their shots.

Richfield pulled away in the second half. Even though Kennedy was not able to make shots in
the second half they kept on shooting.

Kennedy fought hard throughout the game.

Hays continued to come up with layups and mid-range jump shots late in the game.

Richfield came away with the 86-56 victory over Kennedy.

MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ FOOTBALL GAME

On September 17, 2021, Minneapolis Southwest and Richfield went up against each other in a football game.

Richfield kicked off to Southwest to start the game. Southwest took over on their own 20-yard line.

Southwest was intercepted by Jaedyn Patterson of Richfield. Richfield took over on their own 42-yard line. Kaleb Olson came up with a 41-yard reception. Richfield Alasan Sanneh came up with a 1-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good. With 11:37 left in the first quarter, the score was Richfield 7, Southwest 0.

Southwest took over on their own 35-yard line. Southwest’s Charlie Boucher came up with short runs to keep Southwest in the game.

The defensive pressure that Richfield applied to the Southwest offense made it difficult for Southwest to come up with a play.

On 4th-and-15 Southwest decided to punt the ball. Richfield took over on their own 10-yard line. Richfield used both the passing and running attack throughout the first half. Richfield tuned the ball over on downs.

Southwest moved the ball down the field on the running game. Cam Holter came up with a 23-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 1:29 left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 7.

Richfield’s Mitchell January kept on coming up with plays throughout the first half.

After one quarter of play, the score was tied at 7.

Southwest used a variety of plays switching between the running game and the passing attempt. Southwest’s Declan Maida came up with some big runs late in the second quarter. Andrew Gregorson came up with a short catch for a touchdown. The two-point attempt was good. With 5:52 left in the second quarter the score was Southwest 15, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line.

Southwest took a timeout with 5:50 left in the second quarter. The score was Southwest 15, Richfield 7.

Richfield fumbled the ball and southwest took over on their own 1-yard line. Southwest Gram Knapp came up with a 1-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:47 left in the second quarter, the score was Southwest 22, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 22-yard line. They were intercepted by Southwest’s Treveon Marshall-Hall they took over on their own 45-yard line.

Southwest continued to look down the field and move the ball down the field. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Andrew Gregorson, who looked to come up with catches.

Southwest looked to Gregorson late in the half, but he dropped the ball. Gregrorson came up with a 11-yard reception for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

Richfield took over on their own 21-yard line and wound down the clock.

Southwest kicked off to start the third quarter. Richfield took over on their own 27-yard line. Richfield’s Henry Schaefer came up with a first down reception. Richfield was intercepted on a pass attempt.

Southwest took over on their own 31-yard line. Southwest continued to move the ball own the field. Richfield’s Payton Gustafson came up with a interception.

Richfield’s Holter came up with a touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. With 8:01 left in the third quarter the score was Southwest 14, Richfield 14.

Southwest took over on their own 32-yard line. Southwest couldn’t move the ball down the field and punted but there was a penalty on Richfield and Southwest kept the ball.

Southwest looked deep to the end zone late in the third quarter Southwest went for it on 4th-and-5. They were not able to complete a pass and Richfield took over on their own 8-yard line.

Richfield moved the ball down the field again and they struggled to move the ball down the field.

Southwest was intercepted by Richfield’s Eliajah Randle. Richfield looked t move the ball down the field.

Richfield’s AJ Shelley came up with nice receptions. Mitchell January came up with a 5-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 6:32 left in the fourth quarter the score was Southwest 29, Richfield 21.

Southwest continued to move the ball down the field late in the game as they looked to get into the end zone again.

Richfield got the ball on the 10-yard line as they looked to get into the end zone. January came up with a touchdown reception and the extra point attempt was blocked.

Southwest came away with the 36-35 victory over Richfield.

ST. PAUL CENTRAL WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Sep. 10, St. Paul Central and Richfield squared off in a football game. Richfield kicked off to Central to start the game. Central started on their own 20-yard line.

Central looked to keep the ball on the ground on their first drive. Central got the ball into the hands of Joe Hess. Hess was able to get the ball downfield. Central’s Tyrese Edwards came up with receptions for first downs in the first quarter.

Central called a timeout with 8:01 left in the first quarter. The score was tied at 0.

Central’s Joshua Sims came up with a reception that made a first down. Central’s Cole Fee came up with a 6-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. With 7:09 left in the first quarter, the score was Central 7, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 28-yard line. Richfield’s Henry Schaefer came up with a 73-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. With 6:54 left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 7.

Central took over on their own 12-yard line. Central looked to get the ball into the hands of Tre’Jaawn Cox-Curtis. Cox-Curtis was able to get past the defense. Sims was able to come up with runs that were able to get past the Richfield defense. On 4th-and 11, Central punted the ball.

Richfield’s Mitchell January came up with a touchdown but there were multiple flags on the play. Richfield took over on their own 42-yard line. January looked to get past the Central defense. The defense stepped up and was able to slow January down. On 4th-and-4 Richfield punted the ball. They were able to set up a trick play and January came up with a pass for a first down.

After one quarter of play, the score was tied at 7.

Central took over on downs on their own 27-yard line. Central’s Cole Fee looked to come up with big plays early in the second quarter.

Central called a timeout with 10:22 left in the second quarter. The score was tied at 7.

Central punted on 4th-and-3.

January came up with a 35-yard reception. Richfield took over on the Central’s 40-yard line. On 4th-and-5 Richfield went for it and Kable Olson came up with a first down reception. Richfield kept the ball on the ground. January came up with a short run for a first down. Richfield’s Henry Schaefer came up with a 5-yard reception for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 7:12 left in the second quarter, the score was Richfield 14, Central 7.

Central took over on their own 27-yard line. Central’s Tyrese Edwards came up with receptions late in the second quarter that kept the chains moving.

Central turned the ball over on downs. Richfield looked to move the ball down the field late in the second quarter. Richfield looked to move the ball down the field via the air and the ground game. January kept on coming up with big plays late in the second quarter.

Richfield continued to look down the field as they look to come up with first downs and touchdowns’ January came up with a long rush for a first down. That set up a 1-yard run for January for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. With 35 seconds left in the second quarter, the score was Richfield 21, Central 7.

Central took over on their own 25-yard line. They wound down the clock to end the second quarter.

At halftime, the score was Richfield 21, Central 7.

Central kicked off to start the third quarter. Richfield started on their own 44-yard line. Richfield looked to keep the ball on the ground and kept the ball in the hands of January.

Richfield took a timeout with 11:34 left in the third quarter. The score was Richfield 21. Central 7.

Central looked to the air as they looked down the field to get their offense going midway through the third quarter. They punted on 4th down.

Richfield’s Henry Schaefer came up with a 40-yard first down reception for a first down. Richfield continued to move the ball down the field as they looked for a touchdown. Schaefer came up with a 20-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. With 8:57 left in the third quarter, the score was Richfield 28, Central 7.

Central couldn’t move the ball down the field and Richfield took over.

January came up with a touchdown midway in the third quarter the extra point was good.

Both teams turned the ball over and Central got it back and they used both the run and passing attack late in the third quarter. Richfield took over on downs late in the third quarter.

After three quarters the score was Richfield 35, Central 7.

Richfield took over on their own 40-yard line.

Richfield called a timeout with 9:46 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Richfield 35, Central 7.

Richfield punted on 4th down.

Central took over on their own 8-yard line. Central moved the ball down the field late in the fourth quarter.

Central was not able to get their offense going throughout the game. Even though their offense going they kept on playing throughout the game.

Richfield was all over the field. They were able to get their offense going early and often.

Central came up with a touchdown with 43 seconds left in regulation. The extra point attempt was good.

In a good-paced football game Richfield came away with the 35-14 victory over Central.

FRIDLEY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On January 19, it was the first game of the 2021 boys’ basketball season. The 2020-2021 basketball season got off to a late start because of the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. My first game was the Fridley at Richfield game.

There was a limited number of fans in attendance due to conference rules. Each conference and each school had to come up with their own Covid-19 protocol as it pertains to fans and media that can attend the game.

Everyone in attendance had to wear a face mask. Also, all players, coaches, officials, media and the scorer’s table were required to wear face masks. The benches were spaced out as each player was six feet from each other.

Richfield started in a zone defense. They wanted to make Fridley take their time on the offensive end.

Fridley looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Fridley passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense.

Richfield’s Ryan Miles came up with mid-range jump shots and 3-point shots. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Fridley used a motion offense as they took a lot of time off the clock dribbling the ball around the floor. Richfield had to chase and play defense while the ball handler was dribbling around the court. Fridley did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense.

Richfield looked to score baskets in transition. Richfield’s Lamar Grayson came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in transition.

Fridley’s Christian Crockett took the ball strong to the basket. He was able to make layups in transition.

Richfield’s Jaden Wollmuth was able to get his teammates involved in the offense. If he thought that he had a good shot, he was not afraid to shoot the ball.

Fridley called a timeout with 11:38 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 14, Fridley 9.

Fridley took a lot of 3-point shots and was able to crash the boards as they looked to come up with rebounds.

Richfield did a good job of trapping the ball on the defensive end. That lead to turnovers and layups on the offensive end.

The score went back and forth with just under 10 minutes left in the first half.

Wollmuth came up with some big mid-range jump shots in the first half. Teammate Ryan Miles also came up with layups. On the defensive end, they were able to slow down the guy that they were guarding.

Fridley really looked to take time off the clock as they worked the ball around the perimeter as they looked for their shots.

Richfield was able to turn Fridley over and make layups and jump shots on the offensive end.

Fridley went into a scoring drought late in the first half. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on attacking the basket.

Fridley’s Cristian Crockett came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half.

Fridley called a timeout with 4:14 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 31, Fridley 18.

Fridley got their offense rolling late in the first half. They were able to make shots in transition. Even though they struggled shooting early they kept on attacking the basket.

Wollmuth called for the ball late in the first half and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

Fridley’s offense stalled late in the first half as they struggled to shoot the ball offensively.

At halftime, the score was Richfield 42, Fridley 26.

As the second half got underway Richfield continued to look to get the ball into Myles, Wollmuth and Lamar Grayson’s hands. Miles came out hot as well as he continued to find the basket.

Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls.

Fridley continued to struggle to shoot the ball early in the second half.

Richfield called a timeout with 13:34 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 47, Fridley 34.

Fridley had a tough time slowing down Wollmuth on the low block.

Fridley kept on attacking the basket in the second half. They did not get frustrated as they struggled shooting the ball.

Wollmuth was all over the floor as he was able to come up with layups throughout the second half.

Fridley called a timeout with 6:08 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 67, Fridley 43.

Richfield continued to come up with fast breaks and layups off fast breaks late in the game.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Fridley struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. Even though they struggled to shoot the ball they attacked the basket throughout the game. Richfield did a good job of getting everyone involved in the game. For Richfield Wollmuth was all over the floor. He was able to make plays on both ends of the court. If he had an open look at the basket, he would take it.

Richfield called a timeout with 1:04 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 77, Fridley 47.

Both teams continued to race up and down the floor late in the game.

Richfield came away with the 81-47 victory over Fridley.

The leading scorer for Fridley was Crockett with 16.

The leading scoers for Richfield were Wollmuth 25, Miles and Grayson each with 20 points.

RICHFIELD WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST IN A BOYS’ FOOTBALL GAME

On Nov. 6, Richfield went up against Minneapolis Southwest in a boys’ football game.

Southwest kicked off to Richfield to start the game. The ball went into the end zone for a touchback. Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. Richfield could not do anything with it.

On the next drive, Nick Flaskamp came up with a 20-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good. With 10:35 left in the first half the score was Southwest 7, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. Richfield was intercepted by Southwest’s Marcus Madoxx. Southwest took over on their own 46-yard line.

Southwest looked to get the ball into the hands of Flaskamp. Flaskamp came up with big runs throughout the first quarter. Southwest kept the ball on the ground and got the ball into the hands of Flaskamp. Flaskamp came up with short runs that were able to get Southwest first downs. Southwest looked to get into the end zone on a Flaskamp short run. The extra point attempt was no good.

The score with 3:07 left in regulation was Southwest 13, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. Richfield kept the ball on the ground on their next drive. They were not able to move the ball down the field. They punted on 4th-down.

Southwest took over on their own 35-yard line. Southwest looked to the air on their next drive as they tried the passing attempt. Southwest kept on getting the ball to Flaskamp. Southwest’s Madoxx came up with passes that set up first downs.

After one quarter of play, the score was Southwest 13, Richfield 0.

Southwest continued to move the ball down the field. Flaskamp had a 10-yard run for a touchdown. The two-point conversion by Nick Flaskamp was good.

With 10:46 left in the second quarter was Southwest 21, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. They punted on 4th-and 10. Southwest tried to move the ball down the field after the punt. They got the ball into the hands of Flaskamp and Madoxx again as they moved the ball down the field. There was an interception and Richfield recovered.

Richfield looked to move the ball down the field again. Richfield’s Malachai Peterson came up with receptions that moved the ball down the field for Richfield. Richfield attempted a 40-yard field goal but was unsuccessful.

Flaskamp came up with an 88-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 3:07 left in the second quarter, the score was Southwest 28, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. Richfield used both the running and passing attack in the second quarter. On fourth-and-10 Richfield punted the ball.

Southwest took over on their own 49-yard line. Southwest moved the ball down the field again. Madoxx came up with nice catches. Flaskamp came up with a 10-yard run for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was not good.

At halftime, the score was Southwest 34, Richfield 0.

Richfield kicked off to Southwest to start the third quarter. Flaskamp came up with the ball again as he looked to come up with a first down, but the Richfield defense stepped up and forced Southwest to punt.

Richfield could not move the ball and they punted on 4th down. Southwest could not move the ball down the field as Southwest punted on 4th-and-10.

Richfield moved the ball down the field once again as they looked to get past the Southwest defense. They kept the ball on the ground as they looked to move the ball down the field once again.

Richfield found the end zone on a Tritian Zornes run. The extra point attempt was good. That marked the end of the third quarter. The score was Southwest 34, Richfield 7.

Southwest looked to take the ball down the field. Southwest punted on 4th down. Richfield was picked off by Reed. Madoxx came up with a 5-yard touchdown catch for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was a trick play for a 2-point conversion which was good.

With 9:59 left in the fourth quarter the score was Southwest 42, Richfield 7.

Richfield’s Zornes came up with a huge catch for a first down. Richfield tried to get into the end zone late in the fourth quarter. Richfield turned the ball over on downs.

Southwest continued to push the ball down the field late in the fourth quarter.

Southwest came away with the 42-7 victory over Richfield.

MINNEAPOLIS DELASALLE WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 28, Minneapolis DeLaSalle and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. 

Richfield looked to control the pace of the game. They looked to come up with mid-range jump shots and jumpers in the first half.  

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. The score back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run early in the first half.

DeLaSalle swung the ball around the 3-point line in the first half as they were able to get everyone in the offense in the first half. They didn’t give up and east shot.

Richfield looked to get the ball into the hands of Mitchell January and Jaden Wollmuth. 

DeLaSalle called a timeout with 8:26 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 15, DeLaSalle 9.

DeLaSalle struggled shooting the ball early. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on looking for their shots.

Richfield came up with shots throughout the first half. DeLaSalle struggled shooting the ball throughout the first half. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on shooting the ball. 

Richfield called a timeout with 2:52 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 24, DeLaSalle 16.

The game remained close throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run in the first half. Richfield’s Mitchell January came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

At halftime, the score was Richfield 26, DeLaSalle 21. 

As the second half got underway Richfield continued to attack the basket and looked for their shots. 

DeLaSalle looked to score baskets in transition in the second half. 

DeLaSalle’s Amir Whitlock and Cade Haskins both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. Their teammates were able to get them the ball in spots where they could shoot it.

The DeLaSalle offense came to life in the second half. They came up with shots in the second half. There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the second half. Neither team went on a run in the second half.

Richfield called a timeout with 10:38 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 32, Richfield 28.

DeLaSalle continued to attack the basket late in the second half. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Amir Everett who was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Teammate Amir Whitlock and Haskins both came up with shots throughout the second half.

DeLaSalle was able to get their offense going late in the second half. They were able to slow down the Richfield offense in the second half. Richfield struggled shooting the ball throughout the second half. 

Whitlock continued to come up with shots in the second half. The defense had a tough time slowing him down on the offensive end.

DeLaSalle called a timeout with 4:50 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 49, Richfield 33.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Neither team gave up open looks at the basket. 

Richfield looked to get their offense going late in the second half.

DeLaSalle called a timeout with 3:31 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 49, Richfield 39.

Richfield’s Ryan Miles came up with jump shots to keep his team in the game.

DeLaSalle called a timeout with 2:21 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 49, Richfield 42.

DeLaSalle continued to come up with shots late in the second half.

The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up an uncontested shot. 

In a tightly contested game, DeLaSalle came away with 54-44 victory over Richfield. 

FRIDLEY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 7, Fridley and Richfield went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game. Going into the game Fridley had a record of 9-9 while Richfield’s was 14-4. 

Richfield pushed the ball down the floor and was able to score layups in transition. Richfield’s Isaiah Casey Hammond came up with mid-range jump shots and layups early. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Fridley passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense. Fridley struggled shooting the ball early. Even though they struggled shooting the ball they kept on shooting the ball. 

Richfield’s Jaden Wollmuth came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Richfield looked to take time off the clock by swinging the ball around the 3-point line. They were able to keep the ball out of the hands of Fridley. 

Richfield’s Lamar Grayson took the ball strong to the basket as he came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Hammond kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. 

Fridley went into a scoring slump with just under 8:00 left in the first half. They were not able to make a shot in several attempts. 

Richfield used their quickness to get past the Fridley defense. 

Richfield went to a zone defense late in the first half. That made Fridley swing the ball around the 3-point line and get into their offense.

Richfield moved the ball well down the floor as they got everyone involved in the offense. They also did a good job of getting Hammond the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Fridley called a timeout with 4:01 left in the first half. The score was Richfield 39, Fridley 22. 

Richfield’s Mitchel January came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. The defense had a hard time slowing January down on the offensive end. 

At halftime, the score was Richfield 45, Fridley 31. 

As the second half got underway Richfield continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to make shots. 

Richfield passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense and take time off the clock. 

Fridley got their offense going midway through the second half. Fridley’s Christian Crockett came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half. His teammates got him involved in the offense. 

Richfield’s Lamar Grayson came up with layups in transition. He was able to get past the Fridley defense and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Fridley called a timeout with 11:56 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 59, Fridley 49.

Fridley’s Charles Rice came up with layups and mid-range jump shots in the second half. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Fridley’s Isaac Burns came up with layups in the second half that kept Fridley in the game. 

Richfield went into a scoring slump with just under 10:00 left in regulation. 

Fridley kept attacking the basket and came up with shots. They got the deficit down to 4 with just under 8:30 to go in regulation.

Grayson came up with clutch shots in the second half. His teammates got him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

Both teams stepped up and knocked down 3-point shots throughout the second half. 

Richfield continued to swing the ball around the 3-point line while they were running their offense and Grayson came off screens and got to the basket with layups. Teammate Ryan Miles also got his shot rolling late in the game. 

Richfield called a timeout with 3:17 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 82, Fridley 73. 

Grayson continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the game. 

Fridley called a timeout with 48 seconds left in regulation. The score was Richfield 87, Fridley 79.

Fridley looked to trap the ball was Richfield tried to advance the ball down the floor.

Fridley got to the basket and came up with shots late in the game. It wasn’t enough however as Richfield came away with the 89-82 victory over Fridley.

RICHFIELD WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS DELASALLE IN A GIRLS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On January 10, Richfield and Minneapolis DeLaSalle squared off in a girls’ basketball game at DeLaSalle. Going into the game Richfield had a record of 14-0 while DeLaSalle’s record was 5-3.

DeLaSalle on the toss and Richfield started the game in a zone defense. DeLaSalle passed the ball around the 3-point line and took their time on the offensive end.

Richfield looked to get everyone involved in the offense and score layups in transition.

DeLaSalle went to a full-court press as they looked to turn Richfield over in the open court. DeLaSalle’s I’Tianna Salaam came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half. Her teammates were able to get her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.

The defensive pressure that DeLaSalle applied made it difficult for Richfield to make shots. Richfield also turned the ball over and DeLaSalle was made layups off the turnovers.

Richfield called a timeout with 14:35 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 12, Richfield 6.

Richfield got their shots to drop after the timeout. Richfield’s Fametta Zubah made strong attempts at the basket in the first half. Her teammates knew where she was on the floor and got her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.

DeLaSalle trapped the ball and was able to turn Richfield over and DeLaSalle also was able to score layups off the turnovers.

Both teams crashed the board on both ends of the floor going after rebounds.

DeLaSalle’s defensive pressure made it difficult for Richfield to make uncontested shots. DeLaSalle’s Isabella Thomas came up with mid-range jump shots and layups which kept DeLaSalle in the game.

Richfield’s offense started to click late in the first half. They kept on attacking the basket and looking for mid-range jump shots and layups.

DeLaSalle
 moved the ball well on the offensive end. They passed and cut and talked to each other on both ends of the floor.

Richfield’s Taleigha Powell came up with nice passes as she was able to get assists on the offensive end. 

DeLaSalle continued to get everyone involved in the offense and they came up with layups throughout the first half.

Richfield didn’t get frustrated in the first half. Even though they struggled to shoot the ball they kept on attacking the basket.

Powell kept on coming up with shots to keep Richfield in the lead. Her teammates fed off her energy on the floor.

The defensive pressure that DeLaSalle applied made it difficult for Richfield to shoot the ball.

Richfield passed the ball around the 3-point line late looking for their shots. They were able to make shots late in the first half.

At halftime, the score was DeLaSalle 41 Richfield 27.

As the second half got underway DeLaSalle’s Kiani Lockett and Nurjei Weems both came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.  Teammate Kennedy Klick came up with steals and layups on the offensive end.

Richfield continued to find their shots in the second half. Powell and Corrina Hartman both found their shots as they tried to keep Richfield in the game.

Richfield called a timeout 15:25 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 51, Richfield 32.

Weems and Lockett both kept the energy up in the second half as they were very vocal and were all over the floor.

Richfield didn’t get sloppy with the ball, the defensive pressure simply got them off track.

Both teams battled throughout the game as neither team gave up and both played hard. Richfield struggled to shoot the ball the whole game. DeLaSalle came up with shots throughout the game and was able to get everyone involved in the offense.

White, Lockett, and Weems were able to get their shots going throughout the game. Their teammates did a good job of getting them the ball in spots where they could shoot it. 

DeLaSalle got everyone in the offense as they passed it around the 3-point line late in the game. DeLaSalle also used their quickness to get to the basket and make plays.

DeLaSalle came away with the 81-56 victory over Richfield.

Richfield was led in scoring by Hartman with 9, Molly Stark and Alexus Anderson both had 8 points.

DeLaSalle was led in scoring by Weems with 20 points.

SIMLEY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Dec. 6, Simley went up against Richfield in a boys’ basketball game. Simley moved the ball down the floor as they were able to come up with layups.

Richfield called a timeout with 16:32 left in the first half. The score was Simley 4, Richfield 2.

Both teams raced up and down the floor looking for layups in transition. 

Richfield’s Ryan Miles came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He wasn’t afraid to take mid-range jump shots and layups. If he didn’t think that he was able to make shots he would pass the ball around the 3-point line and took time off the clock. 

Neither team went on a huge run throughout the first half. 

Simley’s Breyton Buysman came off the bench and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. The offense went through Buysman’s hands. He was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

There were multiple ties and lead changes throughout the first half. 

Richfield made mid-range jump shots and layups late in the first half. The Simley Spartans couldn’t make shots that they put up.

At halftime, the score was Richfield 37, Simley 26.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor as they both looked for layups in transition.

Neither team went on a run in the second half. 

Simley’s Even Gray came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half. 

Simley called a timeout with 9:07 left in regulation. The score was Richfield 53, Simley 44.

Sjmley continued to attack the basket late in the second half. They made a comeback late in the second half.

Simley’s Breyton Busyman kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the game. 

Both teams played. hard throughout the game. In the end, Richfield came away with the 78-67 victory over Simley. 

SMB WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Oct. 4, SMB St. Paul Academy/Minnehaha/Blake and Richfield went up against each other in a football game. Going into the game SMB had a record of 5-0 while Richfield had a record of 1-4.

SMB kicked off to Richfield to start. Richfield started on their own 15-yard line. Richfield started Ryan Miles at the quarterback spot. The SMB defense was able to get to Miles early. On 4th-and-9
Richfield punted.

Richfield called a timeout with 9:27 left in the first quarter. The score was tied at 0.

SMB started on its own 47-yard line. SMB quarterback Jalen Suggs found Terry Lockett for a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Joey Stolpestad was not good.

With 9:09 left in the first quarter the score was SMB 6, Richfield 0.

Richfield started on their own 15-yard line. The defensive pressure that SMB applied made it difficult for Richfield to move the ball down the field. Richfield struggled to move the ball down the field. On 4th-and-11 Richfield punted.

SMB took over on the Richfield 42-yard line. Suggs found Savion Robbinson for a 42-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 6:12 left in the first quarter the score was SMB 12, Richfield 0.

Richfield started on its own 34-yard line. SMB’s Michael Hall came up with an interception for a 34-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion by Sanjay Redd was good.

With 5:54 left in the first quarter the score was SMB 20, Richfield 0.

Richfield started on its own 6-yard line. Richfield was picked off by Elijah Short on the 50-yard line.

Terry Lockett came up with a 25-yard reception. Suggs was able to get the ball down the field quickly. He knew where his teammates were on the field. Suggs was sacked on 3rd-down. SMB turned the ball over on downs.

Richfield kept the ball on the ground on the drive. Richfield had a difficult time moving the ball down the field. On 4th-and-3 Richfield punted the ball.

SMB called a timeout with 1:28 left in the first quarter. The score was SMB 20, Richfield 0.

There was no return. SMB Started on the 1-yard line and Tommy Stolpestad came up with a 1-yard touchdown run. The two-point attempt pass to Terry Lockett was good.

With 1:18 left in the first quarter the score was SMB 28, Richfield 0.

After one quarter of play the score was SMB 28, Richfield 0.

Richfield took to the air early in the second quarter. Richfield couldn’t move the ball and punted on 4th-and-4.

SMB took over on its own 35-yard line. SMB got the ball into the hands of Dewayne Givens. Terry locked came up with a long reception that brought the ball to the Richfield 11-yard line. SMB got tested midway through the second quarter. They got backed up deep as the Richfield defense pressured SMB. SMB was plagued by penalties as they became sloppy for a few series. On 4th-and-33 SMB went for it and Robinson came with a reception. There was a penalty on Richfield.

SMB called a timeout with 8:47 left in the second quarter. The score was SMB 28, Richfield 0.

SMB was not able to come up with a first down. They turned the ball over on downs.

Richfield took over on their own 10-yard line. Richfield looked to move the ball down the field by air. Davion Taylor came up with a 10-yard reception. Kyle Rice-Peterson came up with a catch for a first down. On 4th-and-10 Richfield punted the ball.

SMB took over on the Richfield 29-yard line. Suggs found Terry Lockett. They were able to move the ball down the field once again. SMB fumbled the ball but were able to come up with it.

Richfield kicked off to start the third quarter. SMB started on its own 15-yard line. SMB looked to move the ball down the field quickly to start the third quarter. SMB fumbled the ball and Richfield recovered.

Richfield took over on the SMB 29-yard line. Richfield couldn’t move the ball down the field.

Richfield took over on the SMB 42-yard line. Richfield’s Zornes came up with an 8-yard reception. On 4th-and-1 Richfield couldn’t come up with a first down and turned it over on downs.

SMB kept the ball own the ground as they looked to bring the ball down the field. SMB Suggs came up with a 59-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 3:05 left in the third quarter the score SMB 41, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 27-yard line. Richfield couldn’t move the ball down the field, and they punted on 4th-and-7.

After three quarters of play the score was SMB 41, Richfield 0.

SMB continued to move the ball down the field. The SMB offense stalled out and on 4th-and-27
SMB punted the ball.

Richfield took over on their own 9-yard line. Richfield moved the ball down the field they kept the ball on the ground. Richfield was intercepted. SMB took over.

SMB recovered the ball on their own 38-yard line. SMB’s Dewayne Givens came up with a 78-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 3:29 left in the fourth quarter the score was SMB 48, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 37-yard line. Richfield couldn’t move the ball down the field. Richfield was intercepted and SMB took over from the Richfield 25-yard line.

SMB was too much for Richfield to handle. They used their quickness to get down the field. Suggs was all over the field.

SMB came away with the 48-0 victory over Richfield.

FRIDLEY WENT UP AGAINST RICHFIELD IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Sept. 6, Fridley and Richfield squared off in a football game. Fridley kicked off to start the game.

Richfield started with the ball. Richfield tried both the passing and running attack early.

Richfield called a timeout with 10:43 left in the first quarter. The score was tied at 0.

The Fridley defense stepped up big as they were able to stop the Richfield offense.

Fridley took over on their own 17-yard line. Fridley pushed the ball down the field. Fridley looked to get into the end zone and Kaleb Blaha found the end zone on a 10-yard run. The extra point attempt was good. With 9:50 left in the first quarter the score was Fridley 7, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 31-yard line after the kick. Richfield’s quarterback Ryan Miles looked to get his receivers into the game as he looked to slick the ball in their hands. Richfield moved the ball down the field. Fridley’s Terrell Davis came up with an interception. Fridley took over on their own 32-yard line.

Fridley’s Micah Niewald came up with a huge reception and run that turned into a first down. Fridley looked to get into the endzone, and they did that on a 1-yard run by Michael Ude, the extra point attempt was blocked.

With 5:48 left in the first quarter the score was Fridley 13, Richfield 0.

Richfield took over on their own 25-yard line. Richfield kept the ball on the ground on their next drive. Richfield’s Kobie Daoheuang came up with a huge run for a first down. Richfield continued to look to move the ball down the field. Brandon Moore came up with a first down reception that kept the drive alive. Richfield’s Mitchell January came up with another first down reception. Richfield’s quarterback Ryan Myles came up with huge runs as they looked to get into the end zone.

Fridley called a timeout with 1:16 left in the first quarter. The score was Fridley 13, Richfield 0.

Richfield found the endzone on a 2-yard run by Tritian Zorens. The extra point attempt was good.

With 1:12 left in the first quarter the score was Fridley 13, Richfield 7.

Fridley got the ball on the 7-3 Richfield 44-yard line. Kaleb Blaha found Micah Niewald for a 44-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 51 seconds left in the first quarter the score was Fridley 20, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. The Fridley defense stepped up big and was able to slow down the Richfield offense.

Richfield got the ball to start the second quarter. Richfield looked to both their running and passing attack to get past the Fridley defense.

Richfield’s Kyle Rice-Peterson came up with a 14-yard reception for a first down. Kobe Daoheuang came up with another reception. The Fridley defense stepped up and stopped the Richfield offense.

Fridley took over on the Richfield 40-yard line. Fridley’s Steven Crockett came up with another 1st down run. Fridley’s Isaac Burns came up with an 11-yard touchdown run. The Extra point attempt by Christopher Castillo was good.

With 7:00 left in the second quarter the score was Fridley 34, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 20-yard line. Richfield got the ball back and they looked to move the ball down the field once again. Richfield punted on 4th-and-15.

Fridley took over on the Richfield 38-yard line. Trayion Lee came up with another first down run. Fridley’s Tayjion Lee came up with another 3-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:53 left in the second quarter the score was Fridley 41. Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 32-yard line. Richfield looked to air the ball out late in the second quarter as they passed the ball late in the quarter. Fridley was picked off by Jalen Shaw for an 18-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt by Castillo was good.

With 3:49 left in the second quarter the score was Fridley 48, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 30-yard line. Richfield’s Davion Taylor came up with short runs as he looked to move the ball down the field. The defensive pressure that Fridley applied made it difficult for Richfield to move the ball down the field.

Richfield kicked off to start the third quarter. Fridley took over on their own 35-yard line. Fridley’s Tra’Vione Steverson came up with a huge run that got Fridley a first down. Steverson got tackled for an 18-yard loss. That lead to a punt on 4th-and 20.

Richfield took over on their own 25-yard line. Richfield couldn’t move the ball down the field.

Richfield on 4th-and-8 punted the ball.

Fridley took over on their own 30-yard line. Fridley’s Steven Crockett came up with a first down reception. Fridley looked to move the ball down the field. Richfield took over on downs on their own 47-yard line.

Fridley’s Crockett came up with a 47-yard touchdown pick off reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:29 left in the third quarter the score was Fridley 55, Richfield 7.

Richfield took over on their own 24-yard line. Richfield struggled to move the ball down the field.

Fridley took over on their own 44-yard line. Fridley’s Charles Rice came up with a huge first-down run. There was a flag on the play against Fridley. Fridley’s Stevenson came up with a 37-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt by Castillo was good.

With 2:05 left in regulation the score was Fridley 65, Richfield 7.

Fridley got the ball back after the touchdown and they killed the clock out the rest of the game.

Fridley was too powerful for Richfield. Fridley was a lot quicker than they were as well. Richfield didn’t give up. 

Fridley came up with the 65-7 victory over Richfield.
