MINNESOTA WEST TOOK ON ANOKA RAMSEY IN A WOMENS BASKETBALL GAME

Minnesota West and Anoka Ramsey went up against each other in a womens basketball game. The score went back and forth early in the game.

 

Minnesota West went cold in the first half as they couldn’t hit a basket for a period of time.

 

Minnesota West called timeout with 10:37 left in the first half. The score was Anoka Ramsey 13, Minnesota 4.  

 

Anoka Ramsey continued to take time off the clock late in the first half.

 

Minnesota West struggled to shoot the ball throughout the first half. As a team they were not able to hit their mid-range jump shots or layups in the first half.

 

Minnesota West stepped up late in the first half and knocked down some big shots.

 

Minnesota West went on a 9-2 run in the last two minutes of the first half.

 

At halftime the score was Anoka Ramsey 25, Minnesota West 16.

 

As the second half got underway Anoka Ramsey looked to get the ball into the hands of Mataya Racek. She was able to hit her mid-range jump shots in the second half.

 

Both teams looked to score on fast breaks in the second half.  

 

Minnesota West came up with rebounds and took them to the basket. Minnesota West’s Kristen Andersen came up with layups in the second half.

 

Minnesota West called a timeout with 6:53 left in regulation. The score was Anoka Ramsey 50, Minnesota West 41.

 

Anoka Ramsey continued to attack the basket late in the contest. They didn’t let Minnesota West come up with any easy looks at the basket.

 

Anoka Ramsey came away with the 65-55 victory over Minnesota West.

 

The leading scorers for Minnesota West were Gehl and Andersen each with 16 points.

 

The leading scorers for Anoka Ramsey were Racek with 19 points and Antilla with 17 points.

ANOKA RAMSEY TOOK ON ROCHESTER IN THE MCAC MENS BASKETBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Anoka Ramsey and Rochester went up against each other in the Minnesota Community Athletic Conference mens basketball championship game.

 

The game got off to a quick start as the score went back and forth.

 

Rochester got up 20-12 with 12:24 left in the first half when Anoka Ramsey called a timeout.

 

Rochester’s Lavar McCullough and Keiron Sauer came up with mid-range jump shots in the first half.

 

Anoka Ramsey had a tough time hitting their shots in the first half.

 

Rochester did a good job of getting the ball down the floor. They were able to make shots in transition.

 

Rochester called a timeout with 8:38 left in the first half. The score was Rochester 24, Anoka Ramsey 21.

 

Anoka Ramsey’s Tent Pollard was all over the floor on the offensive end. He came up with layups.

 

The score continued to go back and forth late in the first half.

 

Rochester’s Jumarhi Turner came up with some deep three-point shots late in the first half.

 

At halftime the score was Rochester 40, Anoka Ramsey 37.

 

As the second half got underway Anoka Ramsey came out on fire.

The score went back and forth throughout the second half.

Pollard continued to come up with mid-range jump shots late in regulation.

 

The score continued to go back and forth late in regulation.

 

Rochester’s Chuck Robinson came up with some big mid-range jump shots in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in the paint so where he was hot.

 

Rochester called a timeout with 2:57 left in regulation. The score was Anoka Ramsey 76, Rochester 75.

 

Anoka Ramsey looked to take time off the shot clock late in regulation.

 

The game was tied at 77 after regulation.

 

In the overtime period the score went back and forth. Rochester continued to look to get Robinson the ball. Robinson was able to hit his shots.

 

Pollard came up with mid-range jump shots in the overtime period.

 

Anoka Ramsey’s Lemuel Doe was fouled with 16.3 seconds left in the overtime period. He missed the first free throw and made the second one.

 

Anoka Ramsey came away with the 88-85 overtime victory over Rochester.

 

As a team Rochester shot 34-87 from the field that included going 6-20 from behind the three-point line. They were 11-19 from the free throw line. Rochester brought down a total of 53 rebounds 29 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Robinson with 29 points, Gunn and McCullough each had 16 points.

 

As a team Anoka Ramsey shot 32-74 from the field that included going 7-22 from behind the three-point line. They were 17-24 from the free throw line. Anoka Ramsey brought down a total of 41 rebounds 29 of them on the on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Pollard with 28 points, Doe and Brama each finished with 14 points each and Loughlin with 13 points.

 

With that victory Anoka Ramsey advances to the NJCAA Division 3 National Tournament in New York.

MESABI RANGE TOOK ON CENTRAL LAKES IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

Mesabi Range and Central Lakes went up against each other in a mens basketball game. Central Lakes looked to get the ball down the floor and get layups early in the first half.

 

Central Lakes did a good job of getting the ball down the floor and scoring baskets in transition.  

 

Mesabi Range did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line and taking time off the clock. Mesabi Range’s Bacarius Dinkins came up with mid-range jump shots in the first half. Central Lakes had a hard time slowing him down on offense.

 

Neither team went on a run in the first half. It took a while for each team to get into an offensive shooting rhythm. There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

 

At halftime the score was Mesabi Range 39, Central Lakes 38.

 

As the second half got underway Dinkins continued hit his shots.

 

Central Lakes’ John Jedneak and Dannon Briggs came up with layups in the second half.

 

Central Lakes called a timeout with 11:16 left in regulation. The score was Central Lakes 54, Mesabi Range 48.  

 

Mesabi Range’s Robert Littleton was able to hit shots in transition in the second half.

 

Mesabi Range called a timeout with 1:05 left in regulation. The score was Central Lakes 70, Mesabi Range 67.

 

In a close game Mesabi Range came away with the 73-70 victory over Central Lakes.

 

The leading scores for Mesabi Range were Dinkins with 27 points and Littleton with 15 points.

 

The leading scorer for Central Lakes was Jedneak with 14 points.

 

VERMILION WENT UP AGAINST MINNESOTA WEST IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

On March 2 Vermillion and Minnesota West squared off in a mens basketball game.

 

Vermilion started the game out in a zone defense while Minnesota West started in a man-to-man defense.

 

Vermilion looked to get the ball into the hands of Emeche Wells.  Wells was able to get to the basket and make layups.

 

Minnesota West’s Cody Harris came out on fire as he scored six of his teams first eight points.

 

Vermilion called a timeout with 15:51 left in the first half. The score was Minnesota West 10, Vermilion 6.

 

Vermilion’s Derek Meger wasn’t afraid to drive to the basket and look for layups. He was fouled and was able to get to the free throw line.

 

Minnesota West was able to hit shots in the first half. They did a good job of communicating on the floor.

 

Vermilion’s offense went cold for a period of time in the first half. Minnesota West took advantage of the Vermilion shooting woes as they kept on attacking the basket and taking time off the clock.

 

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls.

 

Vermilion scored in spurts in the first half. There were periods of time were they couldn’t get a basket and then they would string five baskets together.

 

Minnesota West’s Derek Buyse came up with some big three-point shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot the long shot.

 

Minnesota West did a good job of slowing down the Vermilion offense. They were able to get steals and layups off the steals.

 

Wells came up with some deep three-point shots late in the half.

 

At halftime the score was Minnesota West 53, Vermilion 38.

 

As the second half got underway Minnesota West continued to look to get the ball into the hands of Harris.

 

Wells got hot early in the second half. He stepped up and was able to knock down some deep three-point shots.

 

Minnesota West called a timeout with 16:28 left to go in regulation. The score was Minnesota West 59, Vermilion 50.

 

Minnesota West’s Jackson Seitzinger also was able to come up with some deep three-point shots in the second half.

 

Wells came up with a layup that tied the game at 70 with 10 minutes left in regulation.

 

The score went back and forth in the second half.

 

After a slow start by Vermilion they came out strong in the second half.

 

Minnesota West called a timeout with 7:19 left in regulation. The score was Vermilion 80, Minnesota West 75.

 

Buysse continued to hit three-point shots in the second half.

 

Vermilion called a timeout with 4:06 left in regulation. The score was Vermilion 91, Minnesota West 85.

 

The score went back forth late in regulation.

 

Both teams continued to attack the basket and cast three-point shots.

 

Wells hit a jump-shot with .5 seconds left in regulation to give Vermilion a 1 point lead.

 

Vermilion came away with the 100-99 victory over Minnesota West.

 

As a team Minnesota West shot 34-67 from the field that included going 17-31 from behind the three-point line. They were 14-18 from the free throw line. Minnesota West brought down a total of 29 rebounds 21 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Buysee and Thomas with 21 points, Harris with 20 points and Seitzinger with 17 points.

 

Vermilion shot 36-66 from the field that included going 15-28 from behind the three-point line. They were 13-18 from the free throw line. Vermilion brought down a total of 37 rebounds, 26 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Wells with 30 points and Lucas with 25 points.

WESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE WENT UP AGAINST MINNESOTA WEST IN A WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME

Western Technical College and Minnesota West went up against each other in a women's basketball game.

 

The game got off to a slow start as it took a while for each team to get used to what the other team was doing.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.

 

Everyone on Western Tech touched the ball as they did a good job of bringing the ball down the floor and running time off the clock.

 

Both teams set up their offense in the half court. Neither team pressed at all.

 

Western Technical College strung some baskets together late in the half.

 

The score at halftime was Western Technical 33, Minnesota West 26.

 

As the second half got underway so did the back and forth scoring. Western Tech kept on getting good looks at the basket.

 

Western Tech came alive in the second half. Western Tech’s Melissa Williams, Ali Brey, Carolyn Greene and Becca Meade all came up with mid-range jump shots to keep them in the game. They all knew where they were supposed to be on the floor.

 

The game came down to the wire.  

 

The score was tied at 52 at the end of regulation.

 

Minnesota West’s Lindsey Drooger hit shots throughout regulation. Her teammates kept on feeding her the ball in the overtime period. Teammate Tiffany Gehl came up with a few jump shots in the overtime period.

 

Minnesota West came away with the 63-55 overtime victory over Western Technical College.

 

Western Technical College was lead in scoring by Greene with 13 points.

 

Minnesota West was lead in scoring by Gehl with 29 points.

 

RIDGEWATER WENT UP AGAINST ANOKA RAMSEY IN A WOMENS BASKETBALL GAME

Ridgewater and Anoka Ramsey went up against each other in a womens basketball game. The score went back and forth throughout the opening minutes of the game.  

 

Neither team went on a run early in the first half. There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

 

Both teams started played zone throughout the first half.

 

Anoka Ramsey called a timeout with 7:31 left in the first half. The score was Ridgewater 34, Anoka Ramsey 29.

 

Ridgewater’s Brooke Wuertz was able to knock down mid-range jump shots throughout the first half.

 

Both teams were very balanced. Anoka looked to push the ball down the floor and stack the zone defense while Ridgewater was content with shooting mid-range jump shots.

 

At halftime the score was Ridgewater 49, Anoka Ramsey 39.

 

As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth.

 

Anoka’s Olivia Antilla and Maria Loughlin were all over the floor.

 

The game was very close. Neither team went on a run.

 

The game came down to the wire. Both teams were able to counter what the other team was doing.

Wuertz continued to hit mid-range jump shots throughout the second half.

 

In a hard fought game Anoka came away with the 82-79 victory Ridgewater.

 

The leading scorers for Anoka were Antilla with 26 points and Loughlin with 22 points.

 

The leading scorers for Ridgewater were Sorenson and Wuetrz each with 18 points.

MESABI RANGE TOOK ON ANOKA RAMSEY IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

Mesabi Range and Anoka Ramsey went up against each other in a mens basketball game. The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor looking for shots.

 

Mesabi Range looked to get the ball into the hands of Jamal Branco. Branco was able to come up with some deep three-point baskets.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the first half.

 

Anoka’s Trent Pollard found his mid-range touch as he stepped up and knocked down jump shots. If

Pollard wasn’t open he would get the ball to Lemuel Doe who stepped up and knocked down jump shots.

 

Anoka called a timeout with 7:25 left in the first half. The score was Mesabi Range 25, Anoka 24.

 

Neither team went on a run in the first half.

 

Anoka Ramsey was able to make layups late in the first half.

 

At halftime the score was tied at 38.

 

As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth. Neither team went on a run.

 

Both teams played well on the defensive end. Neither team gave up an open shot.

 

There were several ties and lead changes throughout the second half.

 

The game came down to the wire.

 

Anoka Ramsey came away with the 73-70 victory over Mesabi Range.

 

As a team Mesabi Range shot 26-64 from the field that included going 8-22 from behind the three-point line. They were 10-17 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 39 rebounds 24 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Branco with 21 points.

 

Anoka shot 32-67 from the field that included going 6-23 from behind the three-point line. They brought down a total of 30 rebounds 21 of them on the defensive end. Anoka was lead in scoring by Pollard with 27 points and Doe with 20 points.

CENTRAL LAKES TOOK ON ROCHESTER IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

Central Lakes and Rochester went up against each other in a mens basketball game. The score went back and forth to start the game. It took a while for each team to figure out what the other team was doing.

 

The defense pressure that both teams played made it difficult for each team to shoot shots early.

 

Central Lakes started in a zone defense and they did a good job of talking on the defensive end.   

 

Both teams played with a lot of intensity and energy early in the game.

 

Central Lakes’ Bryan Gichaba went to the basket hard and was able to hit his mid-range jump shots throughout the first half.

 

Neither team went on a run in the first half. Both teams made shots in transition.

 

Central Lakes’ Quincy Bethea brought the ball down the floor and was able to dish it off to his teammates for assists. Bethea had great court awareness. He also did a good job of communicating on where he wanted his players to be on the floor.

 

Rochester called a timeout with 8:21 left in the first half. The score was Central Lakes 26, Rochester 21.

 

Central Lakes was able to step up and knock down deep three-point shots. Central Lakes came up with some fast break layups. They were also able to slow Rochester down on offense.

 

Central Lakes called a timeout with 3:54 left in the first half. The score was Central Lake 42, Rochester 33.

 

Central Lakes kept attacking the basket and hitting shots late in the first half.  

 

The score at halftime was Central Lakes 52, Rochester 45.

 

As the second half got going Central Lakes’ Alex Koch stepped up and was able to knock down deep three-point shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball.

 

Rochester got hot in the second half. They came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. They weren’t afraid to take the ball hard to the rack.

 

Central Lakes called a timeout with 15:18 left in regulation. The score was tied at 61.

 

There were many ties and lead changes throughout the second half. Tempo of the game was a little slower in the second half. Both teams did score baskets in transition.

 

The score continued to go back and forth throughout the second half.

 

Rochester was able to slow down Central Lakes with just under eight minutes to go in regulation.  

 

Rochester called a timeout with 5:37 left in regulation. The score was Rochester 85, Central Lakes 78.

 

After a back and forth start and a barrage of three-point baskets the pace of the game slowed down in the second half. Rochester came away with the 104-92 victory over Central Lakes.

 

As a team Central Lakes shot 32-69 from the field that included going 12-26 from behind the three-point line. They shot 16-23 from the free throw line. Central Lakes brought down a total of 36 rebounds 24 of them on the defensive end. Central Lakes was lead in scoring by Bethea with 23 points, Jedneak with 20 points, Koch with 14 points and Gichaba with 13 points.

 

As a team Rochester shot 41-83 from the field that included going 8-21 from behind the three-point line. They shot 14-25 from the free throw line. Rochester brought down a total of 42 rebounds 23 of them on the defensive end. Rochester was lead in scoring by Gumn with 28 points, Robinson with 20 points, and Claypool with 18 points.
