Central Lakes did a good job of getting the ball down the floor and scoring baskets in transition.
Mesabi Range did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line and taking time off the clock. Mesabi Range’s Bacarius Dinkins came up with mid-range jump shots in the first half. Central Lakes had a hard time slowing him down on offense.
Neither team went on a run in the first half. It took a while for each team to get into an offensive shooting rhythm. There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.
At halftime the score was Mesabi Range 39, Central Lakes 38.
As the second half got underway Dinkins continued hit his shots.
Central Lakes’ John Jedneak and Dannon Briggs came up with layups in the second half.
Central Lakes called a timeout with 11:16 left in regulation. The score was Central Lakes 54, Mesabi Range 48.
Mesabi Range’s Robert Littleton was able to hit shots in transition in the second half.
Mesabi Range called a timeout with 1:05 left in regulation. The score was Central Lakes 70, Mesabi Range 67.
In a close game Mesabi Range came away with the 73-70 victory over Central Lakes.
The leading scores for Mesabi Range were Dinkins with 27 points and Littleton with 15 points.
The leading scorer for Central Lakes was Jedneak with 14 points.
