Maranatha and Rushford-Peterson went up against each other in the semifinals at Target Center. Maranatha swung the ball around the three-point line as they looked to take time off clock.
Both teams started in zone on the defensive end.
Maranatha’s Damario Armstrong came up with some mid-range jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
There was a media timeout with 12:35 left in the first half. The score was Rushford 11, Maranatha 5.
Rushford did a good job of passing the ball the ball the three-point line and getting everyone involved in the offense.

Maranatha went to a zone defense as they wanted to force Rushford to take long shots.

Armstrong came up with steals and layups. The defense had a hard time slowing him down on the
offensive end.
The score at halftime was Rushford 29, Maranatha 19.
As the second half got underway Armstrong kept getting the ball and came up with layups. He was also able to get past the defenders and get to the basket.
There was a media timeout with 14:13 left in the first half. The score was Rushford 35, Maranatha 25.
Rushford was able to come up with steals and make layups off the turnovers.
Maranatha was able to get baskets in transition on the fast break.
Rushford called a timeout with 11:24 left in regulation. The score was Rushford 39, Maranatha 35.
Maranatha’s Josh Goldschmidt called for the ball and was hot from the paint. His teammates really did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
There was a media timeout with 6:10 left in regulation. The score was Rushford 44, Maranatha 42.
The score was tied at 44 with 5:15 left in regulation.
Maranatha’s Goldschmidt, Armstrong, Jake Meyen, Cameron Monson and Jeremiah Hanson all shot the ball well throughout the game. They all did a good job of communicating on both ends of the floor.
Rushford’s Austin O’Hare, Cole, Kingsley, Alex Vix, Seth Thompson and Jorli Hauge all were able to step up and make layups and mid-jump shots in the second half.
Goldschmidt tied the game at 51 with 1:50 left in regulation on a deep three-point shot. Rushford called a timeout.
O’Hare came up with a jump-shot with seven seconds left in regulation for the victory.
Rushford came away with the 53-51 victory over Maranatha.
The leading scorers for Maranatha were Goldschmidt with 13 points, Armstrong with 12 points and Meyen with 11 points.
