Annandale took on Caledonia in the class 2A semifinals of the Minnesota State High School League basketball tournament.
Annandale’s Chase Knickerbocker knocked down mid-range jump shots.
Annandale was able to hit layups in transition. Annandale’s Andrew Fort was able to knock down shots in the paint.
There was a media timeout with 10:43 left in the first half. The score was Annandale 20, Caledonia 13.
Annandale’s Knickerbocker and Matt Miller continued to knock down shots as they were able to hit mid-range jump shots. They were also able to get their teammates involved in the offense. On the offensive end they were able to slow them down.
Caledonia looked to get the ball into the hands of West Spier, Kyle Sorenson, and Colton Lampert. They all stepped up and were able to hit shots in their offense.
Caledonia switched up between man-to-man and zone defense as they looked to confuse them on offense.
There was a media timeout with 3:23 left in the first half. The score was Annandale 39, Caledonia 25.
Annandale continued to swing the ball around the three-point line as they were able to take time off the clock late in the first half.
The score at halftime was Annandale 43, Caledonia 30.
As the second half got underway Caledonia kept on looking to get the ball into the hands of Sorenson and Austin Bauer. Their teammates did a good job of getting them the ball in the paint where they were able to knock down jump shots.
There was a media timeout with 14:06 left in regulation. The score was Annandale 47, Caledonia 37.
Annandale continued to look inside for layups. Miller was able to come up with layups.
Caledonia came up with some big shots late in regulation. Sorenson came up with huge rebounds and layups. Owen King came up with some good passes for assists.
Caledonia stepped up and was able to come up with some huge shots late in the second half. but they weren’t able to come away with the victory.
Annandale came away with the 81-76 victory over Caledonia.
The leading scorers for Caledonia were Sorenson with 24 points, and King with 14 points.
The leading scorers for Annandale were Knickerbocker with 24 points and Miller with 21 points.
After the game I was able to talk to Annandale’s Knickerbocker and Miller about the game. I was also able to talk to Annandale’s head coach Don Dolan about the game.
