Redwood Valley took on Kenyon-Wanamingo in the Class 2A girls basketball semifinals. Redwood Valley swung the ball around the three-point line as they looked to take time off the clock.
Kenyon-Wanamingo got out to a quick 8-2 lead with twelve minutes left in the first half.
Redwood Valley’s Tara Sandgren came was able to get her mid-range jump shot to fall in the first half. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could shoot it.
Siri Sviggum was able to knock down some mid-range jump shots in the second half.
At halftime the score was Kenyon-Wanamingo 39, Redwood Valley 12.
As the second half got underway Redwood Valley came out with a lot of emotion. They were able to get their shots to drop and had their confidence back.
Redwood Valley had a difficult time scoring baskets throughout the contest. Even though they couldn’t get their shots to drop they didn’t hesitate to shoot the ball.
Kenyon-Wanamingo applied made it difficult for them to get open looks at the basket.
Kenyon-Wanamingo came away with the 64-31 overwhelming victory over Redwood Valley.
The leading scorer for Kenyon-Wanamingo was Sviggum with 23 points.
The leading scorer for Redwood Valley was Sandegren with 13 points.
