LAKEVILLE NORTH WENT UP AGAINST BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY IN THE CLASS 4A STATE TOURNAMENT

Lakeville North took on Bloomington Kennedy in the semifinals of the girls state Class 4A state tournament.
 
The score went back and forth in the early minutes of the game.
 
There was a media timeout with 14:48 left in the first half. The score was Kennedy 7, Lakeville North 6.
 
Kennedy was able to score baskets in transition.
 
Kennedy went to a zone defense. They didn’t want Lakeville North to take deep three-point shots.
 
Kennedy’s came out on fire. They were able to come up with fast break layups.
 
There was a media timeout with 10:48 left in the first half. The score was Kennedy 17, Lakeville North 9.
 
Kennedy was able to score baskets in transition. They were able to slow the Lakeville North offense down late in the first half.
 
Kennedy was able to get the ball into the hands of Tonoia Wade. Wade stepped up and was able to hit mid-range jump shots throughout the first half.
 
Lakeville North went to a full court press as they were able to make it difficult for Bloomington
Kennedy to bring the ball down the floor.
 
The score at halftime the score was Kennedy 32, Lakeville North 29.
 
Lakeville north came out looking to get fast breaks to start the second half.
 
There was a media timeout with 14:38 left in regulation. The score was Kennedy 35, Lakeville North 31.
 
Kennedy went to a zone defense so that made Lakeville North have to pass the ball around the three-point line as they were able to take time off the clock.
 
There was a media timeout with 10:21 left in regulation. The score was Kennedy 41, Lakeville North 35.
 
Kennedy looked to get the ball into the hands of Za’Keea Sa’Ede-El she was able to make her mid-range jump shots and layups.
 
Kennedy was able to cause Lakeville North problems on the offensive end late in the second half.
 
Lakeville North was not able to score for a period of time in the second half.
 
Lakeville North called a timeout with 4:39 left in regulation. The score was Kennedy 55, Lakeville North 40.
 
Kennedy’s Wade and Lasha Wright-Ponder came up with mid-range jump shots. They got hot midway through the second half.
 
Lakeville North couldn’t keep up with the pressure that Kennedy applied.
 
Bloomington Kennedy came away with the 61-51 victory over Lakeville North.
 
The leading scorers for Lakeville North was Denk with 17 points.
 
The leading scorers for Bloomington Kennedy were Wade with 19 points, Bell with 18 points, Wright-Ponder with 12 points and Odor with 10 points.
 
After the game I was able to talk to Bloomington Kennedy’s Bell and Head Coach Quinton Johnson about the game.
