St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) and Caledonia went up against each other in the class 2A boys basketball state quarterfinals of the Minnesota State High School League tournament.
Caledonia called a timeout with 14:07 left in the first half. The score was SPA 8, Caledonia 0.
Caledonia went on a 14-0 run with Austin Bauer accounting for 12 of the points.
SPA looked to get the ball into the hands of Adbulsalan Osman. Osman did a good job of getting to the basket and making layups.
SPA looked to score baskets in transition. They were able to do that as Osman was able to hit layups.
There were several ties and lead changes late in the first half. Caledonia was able to work the ball around the three-point line as they wanted to take time off the clock.
At halftime the score was Caledonia 36, SPA 32.
The second half go off to a quick start as SPA came up with mid-range jump shots.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half.
Caledonia’s Bauer came up with some huge baskets throughout the game. He was able to hit both two-point shots and three-point shots.
SPA had a difficult time shooting the ball in the second half. Caledonia took advantage of the Caledonia’s shooting problems late in the game.
SPA’s Dalante Peyton came up with some nice mid-range jump shots late in the game.
Caledonia struggled shooting the ball in the second half.
Caledonia came away with the 73-53 victory over SPA.
The leading scorers for SPA were Peyton, Harrisen Egly and Hanson all with 12 points.
The leading scorers for Caledonia were Bauer with 28 points and King with 10 points.
