PEQUOT LAKES WENT UP AGAINST NEW RICHLAND IN THE GIRLS STATE CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS

Pequot Lakes took on New Richland in the Class 2A quarterfinals of the state girls basketball tournament.
 
New Richland looked to push the ball down the floor and set the tempo early. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Carlie Wagner. She was able to make layups.
 
Pequot Lakes had trouble finding the basket early as they turned the ball over early and often to start the game.
 
Pequot Lakes woke up offensively midway through the first half. Pequot Lakes looked to get the ball into the hands of Kayla Miller and Vanessa Lane who were able to come up with mid-range jump shots. The defense had a hard time of slowing them down.
 
Pequot Lakes called a timeout with 9:10 left in the first half. The score was New Richland 20, Pequot Lakes 15.
 
Pequot Lakes was able to push the pace of the game and make fast break layups with just over six minutes to go.
 
Pequot Lakes kept on feeding Miller, Katie White and Vanessa Lane the ball. They came up with some big mid-range jump shots in the first half.
 
Wagner couldn’t be stopped in the first half. She came up with some huge deep three-point shots late in the half.
 
At halftime the score was New Richland 50, Pequot Lakes 41.
 
As the second half got underway New Richland came out on fire. They went on a 7-0 run to start the second half.
 
Pequot Lakes called a timeout with 16:52 left in regulation. The score was New Richland 57, Pequot Lakes 41.
 
Pequot Lakes looked out of sync at the start of the second half. New Richland beat them off the dribble as they were able to make uncontested layups.
 
New Richland called a timeout with 15:18 left in regulation. The score was New Richland 62, Pequot Lakes 43.
 
Pequot Lakes tried their best to hit shots.
 
New Richland called a timeout with 11:39 left in regulation. The score was New Richland 73, Pequot Lakes 52.
 
New Richland kept on attacking the basket late in regulation. Wagner kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots throughout the game.
 
New Richland came away with the 100-68 victory over Pequot Lakes.
 
The leading scorer for Pequot Lakes was Kayla Miller with 25 points.
 
The leading scorer for New Richland was Carlie Wagner with 53 points.
