MINNEAPOLIS DELASALLE TOOK ON ORONO IN THE CLASS 3A STATE SEMIFINALS IN BOYS BASKETBALL

On March 13 Minneapolis DeLaSalle and Orono went up each other in a boys basketball game in the state Class 3A semifinals.
 
DeLaSalle’s Reid Travis looked to get the ball in his hands on the low block. He was able to hit layups. Teammate Scar Anim was able to hit layups.
 
Orono called a timeout with 15:25 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 7, Orono 0.
 
There was a media timeout with 14:56 left in the first half.
 
Orono switched between man-to-man and zone defense. DeLaSalle was able to get through the Orono defense and get to the basket and make layups.
 
DeLaSalle’s Geno Carndall did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. He was also able to step up and knock down mid-range jump shots.
 
There was a media timeout with 10:34 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 21, Orono 9.
 
Orono’s Cole Hennings came up with big some big mid-range jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
There was a media timeout with 6:26 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 27, Orono 13.
 
Travis and Crandall kept on coming up with layups in the first half.
 
There was a media timeout with 3:53 left in the first half. The score was DeLaSalle 32, Orono 17.
 
DeLaSalle did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They were able to get the ball inside do Travis.
 
At halftime the score was DeLaSalle 37, Orono 19.
 
As the second half got underway Orono was not afraid to attack the basket and get the ball inside.
 
DeLaSalle kept attacking the basket and was able keep getting layups.
 
There was a media timeout with 13:30 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 42, Orono 25.
 
DeLaSalle kept on attacking the basket as they were able to keep making their layups. Travis and Crandall kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots
 
There was a media timeout with 10:57 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 46, Orono 28.
 
DeLaSalle did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line taking time off the clock.
 
Orono called a timeout with 10:06 left in regulation. The score was DeLaSalle 49, Orono 32.
 
DeLaSalle went into a scoring slump after the media timeout. Orono used that to their advantage as they looked to the basket and let layups.
 
Travis was able to take his man off the dribble and get layups.
 
DeLaSalle swung the ball around the three-point line as they looked to take time off the clock.  
 
DeLaSalle was able to turn Orono over and they were able to score layups off the turn \overs.  
 
DeLaSalle came away with the 67-41 victory over Orono.
 
Orono was lead in scoring by Hennings with 20 points.
 
DeLaSalle was lead in scoring by Travis with 27 points, Crandall with 15 points and Johnson with 11 points.
 
After the game I was able to talk to DeLaSalle’s Johnson about the game. I was also able to talk to
DeLaSalle’s head coach Dave Thorson about the victory and playing against his friend Orono’s head coach Barry Wohler.
