New London-Spicer took on Annandale in the class 2A state boys basketball quarterfinal game at the Target Center.
Annandale’s Matt Miller was all over the floor. He was able to make mid-range jump shots throughout the first half. Annandale was able to make fast break layups.
New London-Spicer looked to score baskets in transition.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls and went after rebounds. There were many jump balls in the first half.

New London-Spicer’s Johnny DeGeest stepped up and was able to knock down deep three-point shots.
At halftime the score was New London-Spicer 36, Annandale 33.
The second half got off to a quick start as both teams were able to hit deep three-point shots.
Both teams looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
Annandale's Chase Knickerbocker and Miller each were able to score layups in the second half. They also got hot shooting mid-range jump shots.
Annandale called a timeout with 7:33 left in regulation. The score was Annandale 62, New London Spicer 58.
Miller continued to come up with deep three-point shots. New London-Spicer had a hard time of slowing him down. His teammates Shane Zylstra and Brett Olson also stepped up and knocked down some deep shots.
New London-Spicer kept on making mid-range jump shots late in the contest.
In a hard-fought game Annandale hung on and was able to come away with the 76-70 victory over New London-Spicer.
The leading scorers for New London Spicer were Zylstra with 17 points, Essler with 15 points and Olson with 14 points.
The leading scorers for Annandale were Knickerbocker with 23 points and Miller with 16 points.
