Ridgewater and Anoka Ramsey went up against each other in a womens basketball game. The score went back and forth throughout the opening minutes of the game.
Neither team went on a run early in the first half. There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.
Both teams started played zone throughout the first half.
Anoka Ramsey called a timeout with 7:31 left in the first half. The score was Ridgewater 34, Anoka Ramsey 29.
Ridgewater’s Brooke Wuertz was able to knock down mid-range jump shots throughout the first half.
Both teams were very balanced. Anoka looked to push the ball down the floor and stack the zone defense while Ridgewater was content with shooting mid-range jump shots.
At halftime the score was Ridgewater 49, Anoka Ramsey 39.
As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth.
Anoka’s Olivia Antilla and Maria Loughlin were all over the floor.
The game was very close. Neither team went on a run.
The game came down to the wire. Both teams were able to counter what the other team was doing.
Wuertz continued to hit mid-range jump shots throughout the second half.
In a hard fought game Anoka came away with the 82-79 victory Ridgewater.
The leading scorers for Anoka were Antilla with 26 points and Loughlin with 22 points.
The leading scorers for Ridgewater were Sorenson and Wuetrz each with 18 points.
