MESABI RANGE TOOK ON SCTC IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

Mesabi Range went up against St. Cloud Technical College in a mens basketball game. Mesabi’s Cade Stackpool knocked down two deep three-pointers for his team’s first six points.
 
Mesabi started out in a zone defense. They looked to make SCTC shoot long shots. SCTC switched between man-to-man and zone defenses
 
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half.
 
Mesabi’s Robert Littleton and Bacarius Dinkins were able to hit mid-range jump shots in the first half. There teammates did a good job of getting them ball where they were able to hit shots.
 
SCTC was not afraid to shoot the deep three-point shot.
 
Mesabi’s Kenneth Delley came up with a one-handed slam dunk late in the first half that gave his team energy.
 
At halftime the score was Mesabi 34, SCTC 33.  
 
Both teams pushed the ball down the floor as they traded baskets in the early goings.
 
Littleton came up with some deep three-point shots in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball near the top of the key.
 
Mesabi came up with mid-range jump shots in the second half to keep them in the contest.  
 
Mesabi called a timeout with 9:41 left in regulation. The score was Mesabi 52, SCTC 49. 
 
Littleton came up with deep three-point baskets. If he didn’t think that he had an open shot Littleton was able to get the ball into the hands of his teammates.
 
There were many ties and lead changes late in contest.
 
Littleton drained a three-point shot with 1.5 seconds left in regulation. Mesabi came up with the 68-67 victory.
 
As a team St. Cloud Tech shot 25-69 from the field that included going 8-25 from behind the three-point line. They were 9-20 from the free throw line. As a team St. Cloud Tech brought down a total of 49 rebounds 35 of them on the defensive end. They were lead in scoring by Noonan with 19 points and Riley West with 15 points.
 
Mesabi shot 26-65 from the field that included going 8-26 from behind the three-point line. They were 8-26 from the three-point line. As a team Mesabi brought down a total of 39 rebounds 33 of them on the defensive end. The leading scorers for Mesabi were Littleton with 18 points, Dinkins with 14 points, and Branco with 11 points.
