On March 14 Fond du Lac Ojibwe took on Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (BBE) in the Class 1A semifinals of the 2014 Minnesota State High School Leagues basketball tournament.
BBE looked to push the ball down the floor as they looked to score baskets in transition. Fond du Lac also was able to push the ball and set the tempo of the game.
Fond du Lac’s Davonte Williamson looked to get everyone involved in the offense. He was able to knock down deep three-point baskets.
There was a media timeout with 14:38 left in the first half. The score was BBE 8, Fond du Lac 3.
Williamson came up a nice one handed slam dunk that gave his team energy.
Fond du Lac got everyone involved in the offense. Everyone touched the ball as everyone knew where everyone else was on the floor.
There was a media timeout with 9:59 left in the first half. The score was BBE 18, Fond du Lac 12.
BBE James Kuefler was able to knock down mid-range jump shots in the first half. Teammate Billy Borgerding also was able to hit jump shots from the paint.
BBE called a timeout with 7:14 left in the first half. The score was BBE 24, Fond du Lac 17.
Fond du Lac was patient on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the three-point line as they looked for gaps in the BBE defense. Fond du Lac was able to penetrate the gaps in the defense.
There was a media timeout with 5:23 left in the first half. The score was BBE 28, Fond du Lac 21.
Fond du Lac was able to score layups in transition. Lester Williamson made layups in the fast break.
There was a media timeout with 2:21 left in the first half. The score was BBE 41, Fond du Lac 28.
Billy Borgerding and Brian Goodwin came up with mid-range jump shots throughout the first half. They came up with big baskets throughout the first half.
At halftime the score was BBE 45, Fond du Lac 32.
As the second half got underway Fond du Lac looked to set the tempo. They were not afraid to launch deep three-point shots.
BBE was also able to shoot their fair share of three-point shots early in the second half.
There was a media timeout with 14:09 left in regulation. The score was BBE 49, Fond du Lac 38.
Fond du Lac continued to attack the basket and look for layups midway through the second half.
They were also able to frustrate BBE on the offensive end.
BBE was able to make their layups down the stretch. Fond du Lac kept the offensive pressure on as they looked to get steals.
There was a media timeout with 6:56 left in regulation. The score was BBE 68, Fond du Lac 52.
Goodwin kept on attacking the basket and knocked down mid-range jump shots throughout the contest.
There was a media timeout with 3:36 left in regulation. The score was BBE 75, Fond du Lac 57.
Both teams held the ball late in the contest.
BBE was too much for Fond du Lac to handle. BBE came away with the 76-58 victory.
The leading scorers for Fond du Lac were Williamson with 18 points, and Brown and Delille each with 12 points.
The leading scorers for BBE were Goodwin with 25 points and Borgerding with 21 points.
