VERMILION TOOK ON ANOKA RAMSEY IN A MENS BASKETBALL GAME

Vermilion and Anoka Ramsey went up against each other in mens basketball game. Vermilion looked to push the ball down the floor and make baskets in transition.
 
Vermilion got the ball into the hands of Emeche Wells. Wells came up with some nice mid-range jump shots in the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
Vermilion’s Q McFadden was all over the floor for his teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots in the paint where he could shoot the ball.
 
Vermilion played zone defense in the first half. They wanted make Anoka shoot long shots.
 
Vermilion’s Derek Meger came up with some mid-range jump shots midway through the half that kept his team in the game.
 
Anoka did a good job of talking on the defensive end. They were able to frustrate Vermilion on offense.
 
Neither team went on a huge run late in the first half.
 
Anoka called a timeout with 5:00 left in the first half. The score was Vermilion 24, Anoka 21.
 
Anoka’s Anthony Brama came up with some nice mid-range jump shots and layups late in the first half.
 
Anoka hit their shots late in the first half.
 
At halftime the score was Anoka 35, Vermilion 34.
 
The second half got underway Anoka’s Trent Pollard was all over the floor. He came up with steals and turned them into layups.
 
Anoka came out on fire in the second half. They were able to hit mid-range jump shots early in the second half.
 
Vermilion called a timeout with 17:09 left in regulation. The score was Anoka 42, Vermilion 36.
 
Anoka’s Chris Kpahn came up with a few deep three-point baskets to keep Anoka in the game. Teammate Lemuel Doe was also able to come up with three-point baskets.
 
Wells answered the call as he stepped up and knocked down a deep three-point shot.
 
Anoka called a timeout with 10:44 left in regulation. The score was Vermilion 53, Anoka 51.
 
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the second half. Both teams traded baskets in the second half.
 
Anoka’s Trent Pollard and Joe Lyons came up with some mid-range jump shots that kept Anoka in the game. Both teams weren’t afraid to launch the three point shot.
 
Anoka called a timeout with 3:31 left in regulation. The score was Anoka 68, Vermilion 65.
 
The game came down to the wire. Both teams played hard throughout the game.
 
In a very close contested game Anoka came away with the 80-76 victory over Vermilion.
 
As a team Vermilion shot 31-70 from the field that included going 4-18 from behind the three-point line. Vermilion shot 10-24 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 36 rebounds 19 of them on the defensive end. Vermilion was lead in scoring by Meger with 21 points, Wells with 16 points and Starks and Brooks each with 10 points.
 
As a team Anoka shot 25-53 from the field that included going 9-22 from behind the three-point line. Anoka shot 21-25 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 33 rebounds 24 of them on the defensive end. Anoka was lead in scoring by Lyons with 20 points, Doe with 18 points and Brama with 13 points.
