UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA GOLDEN GOPHERS UPSET THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES

The University of Minnesota Golden Gopher’s are taking on the Ohio State Buckeyes at Williams Arena. Minnesota comes into the game with a 12-1 0-1 Big Ten record and Ohio State comes into the game with a10-1 1-0 Big Ten record. The Gophers come into this game ranked number 21 in the latest USA Today ESPN Coaches Poll. Ohio State is ranked number 23 in the same poll as of December 29 2008.

As this game starts there is a big crowd here today. We are ready to go as this crowd comes to its feet as this game is about to get underway. The student section is totally packed here today as there is a nice size crowd to watch the game.

As we get this game underway both of these teams come out ready to play. The Gophers are playing tough man to man defense here to start this game off. They want to limit the shots that Ohio State is putting up.

Al Nolen has just come out and hit a nice three point jump shot here and that has gotten his team fired up here in the early goings. Both of these teams are trading baskets here to begin this game out.

The Gophers have been able to get their hands up and have been able to get the ball swatted away here so far in the first half.

For Ohio State PJ Hill who is from Minneapolis Minnesota has entered the game here. Coming into this game today PJ Hill is averaging 1.5 points per game. He is Ohio State’s point guard here. He has brought the ball up on offense for Ohio State. He has done a nice job here in this game here as he has really hustled here getting balls off the rebounds and directing traffic.

This game has gotten physical here as the referees are letting a lot of stuff go here in this game. Both teams are getting after it here. Paul Carter is doing a good job here he is really going after it here in this game. The crowd is really into this game here. Devoe Joseph has done a good job in this game of finding his man and coming up with some good defensive pursue. Paul Carter has also given the Gophers an emotional lift here in this game today. This game will come down to the end here as neither team is going to back down.

The Gophers have been able to come up with some big plays here in the first half here but Ohio State is still fighting here and they will not go away.

Gophers head coach Tubby Smith has done a good job of preparing the Gophers for this tough match up against Ohio State. The Gopher’s bench also seems to be into this game as well. They are up cheering for each other in this game. Everyone is into this game. The crowd here at Williams Arena is going crazy here as they have just exploded here as the last minute of the first half has approached us here.

Ohio State is shooting 24.1% from the field and Minnesota is shooting 36.1% from the field. We will have to see how both of these teams come out in the second half.

Jon Buford from Ohio State has just come down and hit a deep three point shot to start out the second half and this is not how Tubby Smith expected to start the second half out. The Gophers will have to defend here in the second half to come away with the victory here today. The Gophers have worked the clock down here as they are trying to wine the clock down. The Gophers are in a full court press here on the defensive end.

PJ Hill has reentered the game here and he is playing tough defense here. He has done a good job here in this game. Ohio State has played both man to man defense and zone defense here in this game.

Blake Hoffaber has come down and nailed a three point shot here and has really gotten this crowd fired up again. The Gophers continue to play hard here in this game. They will have to finish out this game here coming away with this victory.

The Gophers have been playing there style of basketball here today. They have not backed down to this Ohio State team. They have had balanced scoring here today as this has really been a team effort here in this game today.

A lot of different players from the Gophers have stepped up here today. Devron Bostick is one of those guys here today as he has really shown patience on both ends of the court today. He has really gotten after it here in this game.

This crowd has really gotten excited here today as they have been a positive cheering in the game today. They have really turned this place upside down and been cheering loudly here today. The Gopher bench has really come alive here in the game as they are all up cheering for their teammates on the court.

Damian Johnson has come down and hit a nice three point shot here in this game today. He has been able to hit his shot here and has really played well here today in this game. There was some pushing and shoving under the basket and both teams had to been separated by the referees. But things have calmed down and there is a time out on the floor. There was no penalty for either team in that scuffle.

The Gophers have played sloppy here in the final 4:00 left to go in the game. They don’t want to give this game way here. They have to protect the ball and be strong with the ball here down the stretch to win this game today.
Al King Nolen Jr has just made a nice shot here in this game for the Gophers as he has played well when he has been in this game. He is a tough fighter and he gives it his all when he is out there playing on the court.

This game did come down to the end and the Gophers will come away with the win here today. Ohio State played hard throughout the whole game here today and they played hard till the end of the game. This is a nice scrappy Ohio State team. They didn’t back down from the challenge at all and they gave the Gophers all they could handle here today so credit has to be given to Ohio State’s head coach Thad Matta for coming out and leading this guiding this Ohio State Team. Expect great things from both of these programs.

The crowd at the game today did a fantastic job of getting the Gophers through this victory here today. They have had to work hard to get thee victory today. The final of the game was Minnesota 68 and Ohio State 59.

For the game Ohio State shot 34.9 % from the field and they were 84.2% from the free throw line today. Even Turner was Ohio State’s leading scorer with 21 points. Jon Diebler was the second leading scorer for Ohio State with 15 points today.

For the Gophers they were lead in scoring by Lawrence Westbrook with 15 points today and Damian Johnson chipped in with 12 points.

IN THE SECOND GAME OF THE EVENING IS PETTERS VS SABLES

Both of these teams are playing well to start the game off. Ralph Sampson who is one of the top Minnesota Gopher recruits is playing for the Petters Group team.


Both of these teams have played well to open up this game. Both teams are playing well here to start the first quarter. Both teams are getting the ball up and down the court well. There is good ball movement by both teams here in the first quarter of the game.

At the end of the first quarter the score is Sables 27 and Petters Group 29.

Ralph Sampson is putting on a show here in the beginning of the game. He is making shots and he is making good passes. He knows how to get his teammates involved in the game.


Both teams are playing very well here in the middle of the second quarter. Both teams are playing man to man defense. Deveron Bostic is playing well here in this game. He is making shots and he has made some unbelievable passes. Al Nolan is making shots he has good court awareness.

De Andre Townsand who went to Minneapolis North is having a good game he is putting up good shots. He is also making good passes. He knows the game well and he is doing a lot of talking on the defensive end of the court.


Both teams are playing well here in the second quarter of play. Both teams are running a motion offence. They both look to shoot the ball. They don’t have any set plays but both teams are playing strong and aggressive on both ends of the court.

At half time the score is Sables 54 and Petters 46.


At half time Deveron Bostic has 20 points and Ralph Sampson has 4 points. Both teams are playing well.
Both teams are playing well here to open up the second half. Both teams are in control of their own teams here in the third quarter. Deveron Bostic is still playing well. De Andre Townsand is still playing hard on both ends of the court.

As this game enters the fourth quarter both teams come out fired up. Both teams want this victory. Both teams are looking for their shots here to start the fourth quarter.

Jamar Diggs is also playing in this game and he is having another good game. Ralph Samson is having a good game he is has had a couple of nice dunks. I have been impressed by the play of Deveron Bostic, Ralf Samson and Al Nolan Jr, the players who are on the Minnesota Gopher roster. I think that these games help the players keep in shape before they go work out with the Minnesota Gophers.

All of the future Minnesota Gophers and a current Gopher Al Nolan have played well here tonight. Deveron Bostic finished with 26 points, Ralph Sampson finished with 18 points and Al Nolan finished with 16 points.
