APPLE VALLEY WENT UP AGAINST ROSEVILLE IN THE FINAL GAME OF THE MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE

In the final game of the league, Apple Valley went up against Roseville. Apple Valley looked to push the ball down the floor as they looked to get the ball into the hands of guard Tyus Jones. Tyus was all over the floor early on as he tried to get the Apple Valley offense going.
 
Roseville did a good job of getting out and pushing the ball in transition.
 
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run. On the defensive end of the floor both teams did a good job of going after loose balls.
 
Apple Valley had a lot of cross court passes that resulted in turnovers. Roseville, however, was not able to convert on the offensive end.  
 
Neither team was able to get up a lot of shots in the first half because of the defensive pressure that was applied.
 
Trey Jones for Apple Valley did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense.
 
Apple Valley strung some baskets together late in the first half.
 
On the defensive end Apple Valley was able to frustrate Roseville.
 
At halftime the score was Apple Valley 30, Roseville 23.
 
As the second half for underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor. Tyus Jones took over on the offensive end as he ran the offense. He communicated to his players on where they were supposed to be on the floor. On the defensive end, Tyus was able to slow down the guy that he was guarding.
 
Roseville got into a shooting rhythm midway through the second half. The Apple Valley defense, however, made it hard for them to hit consecutive shots that they put up.
 
Both teams played with a lot of intensity and passion throughout the game.
 
Tyus Jones was crafty with the ball. He knew how to get past his defenders as he came up with some nice plays throughout the game.  
 
In a hard-fought game Apple Valley came away with the 53-44 victory over Roseville.

WACONIA TOOK ON ST. LOUIS PARK IN THE MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE

Waconia and St. Louis Park went up against each other in the Minnetonka Boys’ Basketball Fall League.
 
The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor looking for layups.
 
Waconia was able to get past the St. Louis Park defense. St. Louis Park used mostly a zone defense in the first half. Waconia used mostly man-to-man.
 
Waconia was able to get fast-break baskets. They were quicker than St. Louis Park on both ends of the court.
 
There were many loose balls and both teams dove on the floor after them.
 
St. Louis Park kept on attacking the basket. Even though they were not able to hit shots that they wanted to they didn’t give up and quit shooting.
 
At halftime the scored was Waconia 38, St. Louis Park 20.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to fly around the court cutting and passing trying to get open shots.
 
St. Louis Park stung some baskets together midway through the second half. Waconia then answered the call as they caught fire.
 
Waconia was too much for St. Louis Park. In the end Waconia came away with the 77-37 victory over St. Louis Park.
 

APPLE VALLEY TOOK ON OSSEO IN A MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Apple Valley and Osseo went up against each other in the Minnetonka boys’ basketball league. There was a lot of fans watching the game that made for a great atmosphere.
 
The score went back and forth for good period of time. Osseo’s Wheeler Baker was all over the floor for his team. He did a good job of bringing the ball down the court and getting everyone involved in the offense.
 
Apple Valley guard Tyus Jones got his team into an offensive rhythm. He did a good job of communicating on the floor to his teammates. He made sure that they knew where they were supposed to be on the court at all time.  
 
Osseo used both man-to-man and zone defense as they looked to slow down the Apple Valley offense. They were not able to do that however as Osseo was able to get some good looks at the basket.  
 
Neither team went on a run in the first half.  
 
Osseo guard Allen Anderson was all over the floor. He was able to get past the Apple Valley guards.
 
Anderson and Tyus Jones faced each other a few times.
 
Tyus’ brother Trey Jones was all over the floor. He was quick as he was able to get to the basket and make layups untouched.
 
At halftime the score was Apple Valley 37, Osseo 26.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to make shots.   
 
Tyus was smart with the ball. He came up with some nice assists as he always knew where his teammates were on the floor.
 
Apple Valley shut down the Osseo offense in the second half. Osseo had difficulty scoring for a good portion of the second half.
 
Tyus Jones looked very good with the ball. He moved the ball around the floor and was not afraid to pass the ball to his teammates if he thought that they had a better shot than he did.
 
In a game that was hard fought by both teams Apple Valley came away with the 72-51 victory over Osseo.
 

MINNEAPOLIS PATRICK HENRY TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN THE MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE

Minneapolis Henry and Prior Lake went up against each other in the second game of the Minnetonka Fall Basketball League.
 
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
 
Henry started the game the game in man-to-man defense.
 
In a defensive battle at halftime, the score was Prior Lake 19, Henry 18.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor as they each looked for their shots.
 
Henry was able to hit open jump shots throughout the second half. The Prior Lake defense was not able to slow down Henry on the offensive end.
 
The score went back and forth in the second half.
 
Prior Lake strung some baskets together late in the second half. The Henry defenders were not able to slow them down on offense.
 
Prior Lake came away with the 51-40 victory over Henry.

ST. LOUIS PARK TOOK ON EDINA IN A MINNETONKA FALL BASKETBALL LEAGUE GAME

St. Louis Park and Edina went up against each other in the first game of the Minnetonka Fall Basketball League on Nov. 3.
 
The game started out on a quick pace as each team raced up and down the floor trying to make layups.
 
Edina had a 19-12 lead when St. Louis Park called a timeout with 11:37 left in the first half.
 
St. Louis Park did a good job of moving the ball around the three-point line as they looked to get the ball inside as they wanted to get a good shot at the basket.
 
At halftime the score was Edina 42, St. Louis Park 25.
 
As the second half got underway Edina kept on shooting the ball as they looked to get easy baskets.
 
Edina continued to hit layups on the fast break. That is how they made most of their shots in the second half. Edina was a little bit quicker than St. Louis Park on both ends of the floor.
 
St. Louis Park was not able to get their shots to drop in the second half. Edina was a little quicker than St. Louis Park.
 
Edina came away with the 72-49 over St. Louis Park.

HENRY AND ARMSTRONG WENT UP AGAINST EACH OTHER IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

In the final game of the day on Oct. 27, Minneapolis Henry and Robbinsdale Armstrong went up against each other. The score went back and forth early in the game. Neither team went on a run in the first six minutes of the game.
 
Armstrong was able to able to make easy baskets on layups. They knew where each other was on the floor and they were able to give the ball to each other.
 
Shots were hard to come by for each team because the defensive pressure was very good. Both teams seemed to figure out what the other team was doing.
 
At halftime the score was Henry 27, Armstrong 21.
 
As the second half got underway both teams looked to keep attacking the basket. Both teams looked relaxed and confident in their shooting.
 
The score went back and forth midway through the second half. There were many ties and lead changes.
 
Armstrong strung some baskets together late in the second half and Henry couldn’t hit shots for a period of time.
 
In a game that had a lot of action, Armstrong came away with the 64-56 victory over Henry.  
 

ORONO TOOK ON OSSEO IN THE MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE

Osseo and Orono went up against each other in the Minnetonka fall league in the fourth game.
 
Osseo was able to move the ball down the floor with ease as they were able to everyone involved in the offense.
 
Osseo switched between man-to-man and zone defense as they looked to confuse Orono. They were able to do that successfully.
 
Neither team went on a run in the first half. The score went back and forth for a good period of time in the first half.
 
Osseo did a good job of talking on the offensive end. They told each other where they were supposed to be on the floor.
 
At halftime the score was Osseo 34, Orono 21.
 
As the second half got underway, Osseo continued to hit shots that were easy for them to make. Orono struggled on the offensive end.
 
Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls and went after rebounds.
 
Osseo continued to make good plays late in the contest. On the defensive end they were able to slow down Orono.
 
Orono fought back late in the contest in the end however Osseo came away with the 67-60 victory over Orono.

APPLE VALLEY TOOK ON MINNETONKA IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE

Apple Valley and Minnetonka played each other in the Minnetonka fall league. The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor.
 
Apple Valley looked to get the ball into the hands of guard Tyus Jones. Jones was all over the floor.
 
Jones got everyone involved in the offense. He knew where guys were supposed to be on the floor.
 
Apple Valley strung some quick baskets together. They built a 13-7 lead with 13:31 left in the first half. That’s when Minnetonka called its first timeout.
 
Minnetonka had a hard time of getting to the baskets and hitting their shots.
 
Trey Jones took the ball hard to the basket and was able to make some good passes and hit some big shots.
 
At halftime the score was Apple Valley 36, Minnetonka 21.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to attack the basket.  
 
Apple Valley continued to move the ball well down the floor.
 
Minnetonka continued to have trouble shooting the ball.
 
Apple Valley came away with the 70-38 victory over Minnetonka.

HOPKINS TOOK ON WAYZATA IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE

Hopkins and Wayzata went up against each other in the second game of the Minnetonka Fall League.
 
Hopkins looked strong from the gate, as they were able to build an early 10-0 lead with 14 minutes left in the first half.
 
Wayzata did get some good looks at the basket but they were not able to hit shots.
 
Hopkins went to a full court press midway through the first half.
 
Even though Wayzata couldn’t make their shots in the first half. They were not afraid to shoot the ball.
 
Everyone for Hopkins touched the ball. They did a good job of swinging the ball around the three-point line.
 
At halftime the score was Hopkins 31, Wayzata 10.
 
As the second half got underway Hopkins continued to attack the basket.
 
Hopkins was too quick for Wayzata throughout. Wayzata played hard throughout. They worked on set plays in their offense.
 
Hopkins looked like they were a step quicker than Wayzata. Hopkins was able to blow by Wayzata on offense and get lay-ups.
 
Hopkins took an early lead and they never looked back. In a game that started out quick Hopkins came away with the 50-24 victory over Wayzata.
 

NORTH ST. PAUL WENT UP AGAINST ORONO IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE

North St. Paul and Orono went up against each other in the Minnetonka fall league. It took a while for each of these teams to get into a shooting rhythm.
 
The score went back and forth early in the contest. Neither team was able to go on a run.  
 
Both teams played man-to-man defense. Neither team gave up easy shots.  
 
Orono looked to shoot the ball from inside the three-point line. They looked to make layups.
 
At halftime the score was Orono 18, North St. Paul 16.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to swing the ball around the three-point line to get into an offensive rhythm.
 
The defense each team played was very good. Neither team shot a ton of shots but when they did they had a hand in their face.
 
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the game.
 
Both teams played hard throughout the contest. I thought that both teams played very well on the defensive end.
 
The game came down to the wire. In the end however Orono came away with the 48-38 victory.

EDINA TOOK ON BRECK IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE

In the final game of the day Edina and Breck went up against each other. The score went back and forth early in the contest.  
 
Edina was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court.  If they thought that they had a good shot they wouldn’t be afraid to shoot it.
 
Breck did a good job of getting out and making baskets in transition. They were able to get layups.
 
Breck went to a zone defense midway through the first half. They looked to force Edina to make long shots.
 
Neither team went on run in the first half as the score was tight.
 
Max Lynch was all over the floor for Edina. On the offensive end Lynch would call for the ball and his teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots by the basket where he would make good layups.
 
At halftime the score was Edina 32, Breck 27.
 
As the second half got underway both teams continued to attack the basket on the offensive end.
 
The score went back and forth early in the second half. There were many ties and lead changes in the second half.
 
Both teams didn’t give up easy baskets in the second half. They played under control and at a good pace.
 
Breck didn’t back down as they were able to hang around throughout the whole game. In a good hard fought battle that came down to the wire Edina came away with the 59-55 victory over Breck.
 

NORTH ST. PAUL TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

North St. Paul and Prior Lake went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game at the Minnetonka Fall League.
 
North St. Paul came out on fire as they took a 7-2 lead with just under 15 minutes left in the first half. Prior Lake however got their shots to drop.
 
The score went back and forth midway through the first half. Both teams looked to get open shots.
 
The defense made it difficult for each team to hit wide open shots.
 
Neither team went on a run in the first half.  
 
North St. Paul used mostly a zone defense throughout the first half. They wanted to force Prior Lake to take long shots.  
 
At halftime the score was Prior Lake 26, North St. Paul 16.
 
Prior Lake continued to attack the basket and was able to shoot lay-ups. North St. Paul had a difficult time slowing down Prior Lake on defense.
 
North St. Paul came to life in the second half. They strung some baskets together as they looked to attack the Prior Lake defense.
 
The pace of the game picked up midway through the second half. Both teams rushed shots in the second half.
 
Prior Lake came away with the 56-47 victory over North St. Paul.
 

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S TOOK ON MINNETONKA IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Benilde-St. Margaret's took on Minnetonka in the third game of the day. The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor.  
 
Both teams looked to set a fast tempo. Benilde-St. Margaret's did a good job of getting the ball down the floor. They were able to make baskets in transition.
 
Benilde-St. Margaret's did a good job of taking time off of the clock by swinging the ball around the three-point line. Minnetonka switched up between man-to-man and zone defense as they wanted to confuse them on offense.
 
Minnetonka had a hard time hitting shots in the first half. The defensive pressure that Benilde-St. Margaret’s applied made it difficult for them to hit shots.
 
At halftime the score was Benilde-St. Margaret’s 45, Minnetonka 27.
 
Benilde-St. Margaret’s continued to attack the basket in the second half. They were able to make baskets in transition.
 
Minnetonka went to a zone defense midway through the second half. They wanted to slow the Benilde-St. Margaret’s offense down. Minnetonka was unsuccessful at doing that.
 
 Minnetonka continued to shoot the ball from spots where they thought that they would be able to make shots.
 
Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls on both ends of the court.
 
Minnetonka continued to struggle throughout the second half. Minnetonka went of fire late in the contest. They tied the game at 62 with just under four minutes left in regulation.
 
The game came down to the wire as the score went back and forth the last three minutes.
 
In a hard fought contest Benilde- Margaret’s came away with the 73-68 victory over Minnetonka.
