HOPE ACADEMY WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On March 11, it was a section boys’ basketball game where Hope Academy went up against Minneapolis North. 

Hope passed the ball around the 3-point line looking for their shots. They looked to push the ball down the floor and score layups in transition. 

North called a timeout with 16:24 left in the first half. The score was Hope 5, North 2.

North pushed the ball down the floor and looked to get everyone involved in the offense. North’s JaQuan Sanders-Smith took the ball hard to the basket. He came up with mid-ran jump shots and layups. Sanders-Smith slowed down his man that he was guarding. 

Hope struggled shooting the ball in the first half. Even though they struggled they kept on shooting the ball. 

Hope called a timeout with 6:54 left in the first half. The score was North 47, Hope 14.

The Hope offense struggled and the North offense woke up. 

North pushed the ball down the floor and came up with fast break layups off turn overs.

At halftime, the score was North 72, Hope 27.

North continued to push the ball down the floor and score layups in transition.

Hope struggled to shoot the ball in the second half. They kept attacking the basket but were not able to come up with layups or jump shots.

North called a timeout with 11:50 left in regulation. The score was North 87, Hope 40. 

North continued to push the ball down the floor and came up with baskets. 

Hope called a timeout with 5:35 left in regulation. The score was North 100, Hope 45.

North was too quick for Hope. Hope struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game. 

North came away with the 111-50 victory over Hope. 

The leading scorers for Hope were, Nate Elifson, Joey Erickson, and Johnny Erickson all scoring 14 points each. 

The leading scorers for North were Isaac Johnson with 26 points, Wilson with 19 points and Tayler Johnson with 16 points.

ST. PAUL JOHNSON WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN THE TWIN CITIES BOYS’ BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

St. Paul Johnson and Minneapolis North squared off against each other in the Twin Cities Championship game on Feb. 21. Both teams won their conference titles.

The score went back and forth early. It took a while for each get into a shooting rhythm.

North’s Jamil Jackson came up with mid-range jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

Johnson played a full court man-to-man defense.

North’s Tyler Johnson came up with huge mid-range jump shots and layups.

North called a timeout with 11:48 left in the first half. The score was North 20, St. Paul Johnson 18.

North came up with steals and layups off the steals. North’s Isaac Johnson came up with steals and was able to knock down free throws after he has fouled.

Both teams looked to make fast break layups. They traded baskets for a period of time midway through the first half.

St. Paul Johnson came up with layups late. North wasn’t able to recover.

At halftime the score was North 49, St. Paul Johnson 47.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to push the ball down the floor and made layups.

St. Paul Johnson got the ball into the hands of Jalen Mobley.

North’s Jamil Jackson came up with two handed slam dunks midway through the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting open in the lane.

Both teams kept the score close late in the game.

Mobley came up with huge shots down the stretch. The defense had a hard time slowing him down.

The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up easy baskets.

The game was tied at 95 at the end of regulation.

The score continued to be close in the overtime period.

Mobley continued to come up with huge shots in the overtime period.

Tyler Johnson came up with huge baskets down the stretch.

Mobley hit a 3-point shot as time expired to tie the game.

The game was tied at 108 after the first overtime period.

In the second overtime period St. Paul Johnson attack the basket and was able to hit their shots. They were able to ware North down.  

North fought back and stepped up and knocked down shots. The score went back and forth in the second overtime.

St. Paul Johnson came away with the 123-119 victory over North.

The leading scorers for Johnson were Mobley with 52 points, and Elliot with 17 points.

The leading scorers for North were Jackson with 41 points, Isaac Johnson with 22 points and Tyler Johnson with 21 points.

MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST ARMSTRONG IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 9, Minneapolis North and Armstrong squared off against each other in a boys’ basketball game.

Armstrong started out in a man-to-man defense. They didn’t allow North to take open shots.


North called a timeout with 16:25 left in the first half. The score was Armstrong 6, North 4.


Armstrong came up with deep 3-point baskets early in the first half. They were able to get past the North defenders.

North struggled to shoot the ball throughout the first half. Even though they struggled to shoot the ball they kept trying.

North’s Tyler Johnson came up with steals and was able to make layups off the steals. North did a good job of getting the ball into his hands? Teammate Isaac Johnson also was able to come up with mid-range jump shots.

North did a good job of attacking the defense as they were able to get to the basket. They came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

North took their time on the offensive end. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.

Armstrong’s Sean Burns came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He also came up with two handed slam dunks.

The score went back and forth late in the first half. Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.

At halftime the score was Armstrong 40, North 38.

As the second half got underway North continued to push the ball down the floor and looked for baskets in transition.

North got the ball into the hands of Ahzerik Rodgers. Rodgers came up with layups and jump shots consistently throughout the game.

North stepped up their defensive pressure in the second half. They made it more difficult for Armstrong to get open looks at the basket.

Neither team went on a run early in the second half.

Willson came up with some big rebounds for his team. He was able to get the ball into his teammates hands.

Armstrong’s Sean Burns came up with big layups in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

The score continued to go back and forth late in the game. Neither team went on a huge run in the second half.

North’s Ja’Quan Sanders-Smith came up with huge mid-range jump shots and layups late in the game.

North came away with the 77-75 victory over Armstrong.

The leading scorers for Armstrong were Sean Burns with 28 points, Evan Nolan 17 points, and Race Thompson with 12 points.

The leading scorers for North were Odell Wilson with 18 points, Jamil Jackson had 16 points and Tyler and Isaac Johnson each had 14 points.
