CHASKA TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS REGION BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 26 Chaska went up against Prior Lake in a boys region basketball game. Chaska looked to push the ball down the floor as they wanted to score baskets in transition.
 
Chaska’s Myles Hanson was all over the floor on the offensive end. He was able to make layups in the first half.
 
Prior Lake started the game cold on the offensive end. They were not able hit their shots that they put up. Jon Sobaski looked to get hot from inside. Sobaski was able to get the ball into the hands of teammate Tevin Grant.
 
Prior Lake’s Connor Bair made layups as he was able to get passes in the lane from Jason Faul.
 
Chaska played mostly zone in the first half. That made Prior Lake have to swing the ball around the three-point line.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 10:23 left in the first half. The score was Chaska 10, Prior Lake 5.  
 
Prior Lake’s Jack Kortes came up with some nice jump shots. He called for the ball and Sobaski was able to get him the ball.
 
Chaska’s Jacob Hansen came up with mid-range jump shots. The defense had a hard time slowing him down.
 
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
 
Prior Lake’s Kevin McKiernan drove the length of the court and was fouled while going to the basket. He was able to make his free throws. McKiernan also was able to hit long three-point shots.
 
Chaska called a timeout with 2:05 left in the first half. The score was Prior Lake 30, Chaska 27.
 
The score continued to go back and forth late in the first half.
 
The score at halftime was Chaska 33, Prior Lake 30.
 
As the second half got underway Chaska came out hot as Hanson knocked down key jump shots.
 
Sobaski came up with some steals and was able to get the layups on the offensive end.
 
Chaska called a timeout with 14:33 left in regulation. The score was Chaska 38, Prior Lake 36.
 
Chaska played mostly zone defense in the second half. Prior Lake was able to get to the basket as they were able to attack the zone.
 
The score continued to go back and forth in the second half.
 
Chaska’s Myles Hanson came up with mid-range jump shots that kept them in the game. On the defensive end he was able to slow down the guy he was guarding.
 
Prior Lake did a good job of getting the ball down the floor. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.
 
Chaska’s Peyton Sanders came up with some mid-range jump shots in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could shoot it.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 8:15 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 48, Chaska 44.
 
Both teams were not afraid to shoot deep three-point shots.
 
Chaska called a timeout with 6:08 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 57, Chaska 50.
 
Prior Lake looked to get baskets in transition. They were able to get that as Sobaski made his layups.
 
The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up uncontested shots.
 
Chaska called a timeout with 2:07 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 67, Chaska 65.
 
Both teams shot the ball well late in the contest.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 6.4 seconds left in regulation. The score was tied at 67.
 
Faul came up with a shot at the buzzer in the lane to win the game.
 
Prior Lake came up with the 69-67 victory over Chaska.
 
The leading scorers for Chaska were Hansen with 27 points and Hanson and West each with 12 points.
 

LAKEVILLE NORTH TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Feb. 21 Lakeville North went up against Prior Lake in a boys basketball game. Prior Lake’s Jon Sobaski got the ball off the tip and scored a layup for the first basket.
 
Prior Lake looked to push the ball down the floor.
 
On the offensive end Prior Lake looked to take time off the clock as they looked to swing the ball around the three-point line.
 
Lakeville North looked to get the ball into the hands of J.P. Macura and Connor Flack. Macura wasn’t afraid to shoot the deep three-point shot.
 
Prior Lake’s Nick Vanek was all over the floor on the offensive end. He was not afraid to drive to the basket if he thought he had an open shot.
 
There were several ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
 
Flack came up with defensive rebounds. He was able to get the ball into the hands of Macura and Alex Reiland who were able to set up the offense and run plays.
 
Prior Lake’s Austin Heidecker came up with some big defensive stops. He was able to get steals and then get the ball into the ball into the hands of Sobaski.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 8:07 left in the first half. The score was Lakeville North 24, Prior Lake 16.
 
Prior Lake continued to move the ball well down the floor. They were able to get everyone involved in the offense.
 
Macura kept on hitting his shots throughout the first half. It didn’t matter if he was shooting three-pointers or two-pointers he was on fire.
 
Prior Lake’s Kevin McKiernan was able to drain three-point shots late.
 
Lakeville North called a timeout with 2:35 left in the first half. The score was Lakeville North 32, Prior Lake 25.
 
At halftime the score was Lakeville North 38, Prior Lake 29.
 
Macura scored 26 points in the first half.
 
Macura found his mid-range touch at the start of the second half. He was not afraid to shoot the ball.
 
Lakeville North started out the second half in a zone defense. They looked to try to force Prior Lake to shoot three-point shots.
 
Prior Lakes’ Jason Faul and Heidecker all shot three-point shots well in the second half. Prior Lake came out on fire to start the second half. They were down two with 15:00 left in regulation.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 14:33 left in regulation. The score was Lakeville North 42, Prior Lake 38.
 
Sobaski continued to drain three-point shots. Lakeville North couldn’t slow him down.
 
There were several ties and lead changes throughout the second half. Neither team went on a run.
 
Prior Lake looked to score baskets in transition. If they were not able to score baskets in transition they would bring the ball out to the top of the key and they would run their set plays. Sobaski did a good job of letting his teammates know what plays that he wanted ran.  
 
Both teams went to a full court press. They wanted to make it difficult for the other point guard to bring the ball down the court.  
 
Faul found his mid-range touch late in regulation. He kept on calling for the ball as he was able to knock down jumpers.
 
Macura and Flack kept Lakeville North in the game as they had good performances in the game.
 
The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up easy shots down the stretch.
 
Vanek came up with some big shots late in regulation.  
 
Macura was fouled with 16.1 seconds left in regulation and he shot three free throws. The game was tied at 69. Macura missed the free throws. Sobaski fouled Calven Pesola and he missed his first free throw and then Prior Lake called a timeout with 4.3 seconds left with the score tied. Pesola made his second free throw.
 
Lakeville North had a 70-69 lead with 4.3 seconds to go when Lakeville North called a timeout.
 
Prior Lake had the ball with 4.3 seconds to go and Faul shot a three-point shot but it didn’t go in as time expired.
 
Lakeville North came away with the 70-69 victory over Prior Lake.
 
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Sobaski with 20 points, Faul with 18 points, and Bair with 12 points.
 
Lakeville North was lead in scoring by Macura with 42 points and Flack with 12 points.

BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON WENT UP AGAINST PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 31 Bloomington Jefferson went up against Prior Lake in a boys basketball game. Prior Lake won the tip. Both teams started out in man-to-man on defense.  
 
Jefferson looked to get the ball into the hands of Peter Knutson. Knutson was able to get open shots.
 
Prior Lake was able to hit their layups throughout the first half. They did a good job of passing the ball around the three-point line. Jon Sobaski got hot as he was able to come up with nice shots in the paint.
 
Prior Lake was a little quicker on the offensive end.  They were able to get past the Jefferson defenders.
 
Prior Lake’s Jason Faul also did a good job of making his mid-range jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he score it. Faul was not afraid to also shoot the three-point shot. Teammate Austin Heidecker also had a nice mid-range touch. Kevin McKiernan also got into the offensive shooting rhythm in the first half as he came up with some nice layups.
 
Jefferson’s Matt Rosen and Tom Gathje stepped up and were able to come up with some inside jump shots. Gathje was also able to get the ball into the hands of teammate Matt Rosen who also was able to get his mid-range jump shot to fall.  
 
At halftime the score was Prior Lake 36, Jefferson 24.
 
As the second half for underway Jefferson came out on fire as they scored five straight baskets.
 
Prior Lake continued to look to get the ball into the hands of Sobaski. Sobaski was not afraid to shoot deep three-pointers. He was also able to find teammate Lucas Olson who also came up with some nice shots in the paint.
 
The Prior Lake defense made it difficult for Jefferson to shots up.
 
The Prior Lake offense really clicked. They were able to get to the  68-60 victory over Jefferson.
 
The leading scorers for Jefferson were Gathje with 17 points, Mariska 12 and Rosen with 10 points.
 
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Sobaski and Heidecker with 17 also McKiernan with 13 points.

PRIOR LAKE TOOK ON EASTVIEW IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 10 Prior Lake and Eastview squared off in a boys basketball game. Prior Lake did a good job of getting the ball out in the open court and scoring baskets in transition.
 
Eastview passed the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock.
 
Prior Lake’s Conner Bair took the ball hard to the basket. On the defensive end he slowed down the guy that he was guarding.
 
Eastview called a timeout with 11:06 left in the first half. The score was Prior Lake 16, Eastview 8.
 
Eastview had a hard time getting their offense going in the first half. They were not able to hit shots that they put up.
 
Prior Lake did a good job of moving the ball around the three-point line. They wanted to look to get the ball into the hands of Nick Vanek. Vanek took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to get layups and his teammates did a good job of feeding him the ball near the basket.
 
Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. It was a very physical game on by both teams on both ends of the floor.
 
At halftime the score was Prior Lake 35, Eastview 21.
 
Prior Lake’s Jason Faul was not afraid to shoot the ball throughout the game. He was able to make mid-range jump shots.
 
Eastview took a lot of time off the clock in the second half. They were down 52-28 with 11:45 left in regulation.
 
Prior Lake continued to take the ball hard to the basket and was able to hit their shots throughout the second half.
 
Prior Lake called a timeout with 5:55 left in regulation. The score was Prior Lake 59, Eastview 41.
 
Prior Lake continued to push the ball down the floor and hit their shots.
 
Prior Lake came away with the 70-53 victory over Eastview.
 
The leading scorers for Eastview were Obi Ibeneme with 12 points, Keegan Dickson with 11 points.
 
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Sobaski with 17 points, Faul with 15 points, Bair with 13 and Austin Heidecker with 12 points.

BLOOMINGTON KENNEDY WENT UP AGAINST PRIOR LAKE IN A BOYS BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 7 Bloomington Kennedy and Prior Lake squared off in a basketball game. It took a while for these teams to get their offenses going.
 
Prior Lake’s Connor Bair  played well on the low block. He was able to get rebounds off of missed shots.
 
Kennedy called a timeout with 13:55 in the first half. The score was Prior Lake 8, Kennedy 2.
 
The pace of the game was quick as both teams were able to race up and down the floor. They were each able to get baskets in transition.
 
Prior Lake’s Jason Faul shot the ball well throughout the game. He was able to get his shot going in the first half. Faul was able to find his teammate Jon Sobaski, who was able to get hot in the first half.
 
Kennedy’s Dejon Davis came up with some nice shots late in the first half. They were able to take the lead with just over 3:00 left in the first half.
 
At halftime the score was Kennedy 31, Prior Lake 24.
 
As the second half got underway Bair came up with some nice layups early.
 
Kennedy kept on getting the ball into Davis’s hands. Davis did a good job of getting to the basket and making his shots.
 
The score continued to go back and forth midway through the first half. Prior Lake continued to make tough shots. The Kennedy defense made it difficult for Prior Lake to get make shot because of the pressure.
 
The score was close throughout.
 
Prior Lake continued to get the ball into to Bair’s hands.
 
Neither team gave up easy baskets in the contest. It was a hard fought game throughout.
 
Kennedy came away with the 63-59 victory over Prior Lake.
 
The leading scorers for Kennedy were Davis with 19 points and Lewis with 15 points.
 
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Bair with 20, Faul 19 and Sobaski 11 points.

EDEN PRAIRIE TOOK ON PRIOR LAKE IN A BASKETBALL GAME

Eden Prairie went up against Prior Lake in a boys basketball game. The game got off to a quick start as each team raced up and down the floor looking to get into an offensive shooting rhythm.
 
Eden Prairie’s Andre Wallace took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to get his shot going early.
 
Wallace scored Eden Prairie’s first six of his team’s eight points.
 
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run.
 
Jason Faul for Prior Lake came up with some nice baskets midway through the first half.
 
Wallace continued to shoot the ball well in the first half. He had good court awareness and knew where his teammates were on the floor at all times.
 
The Prior Lake defense went cold late in the first half. They were not able to hit a shot for a period of time.
 
Eden Prairie continued to shoot the ball well late in the first half.
 
The score went back and forth late in the first half.
 
At halftime the score was tied at 24.
 
As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth.
 
Connor Bair for Prior Lake came up and made some nice plays in the second half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
 
Wallace took the ball hard to the basket and was able to step up and hit his free throws.
 
Bair and Wallace guarded each other tightly throughout the game. Neither gave the other an open look at the basket.
 
Grantham Gillard for Eden Prairie came up with some nice shots late in the contest. Gillard was fouled with 0.9 seconds left with the score tied at 62.
 
Gillard hit a free throw to win the game.
 
Both teams played hard but Eden Prairie came away with the 63-62 victory over Prior Lake.  
 
Wallace ended up with 24 points and Gillard ended up with 20 points.
 
For Prior Lake Jon Sobaski with 20 points and Bair with 18 points.
