Apple Valley and Eden Prairie went up
against each other in the semifinals of the 2013 state tournament.
The game got off to a quick start as
each team raced up and down the floor. The score went back and forth
throughout the opening minutes.
Apple Valley looked to get the ball
into the hands of Tyus Robert Jones.
At the first media timeout with 14:28
left in the first half the score was Eden Prairie 6 and Apple Valley
5.
Jones was all over the floor. He had
great court awareness and he knew where his teammates were at all
times on the floor.
Jones was able to get to the basket and
attack it and was able to make lay-ups.
Eden Prairie looked to get baskets in
transition.
There was a media timeout with 9:51
left in the first half. The score was Eden Prarie 13 and Apple Valley
11.
The score went back and forth
throughout the first half. There were many ties and lead changes in
the first half.
There was a media timeout with 6:56
left in the first half. The score was tied at 15.
Apple Valley did a good job of pushing
the ball down the floor. They did a good job of making shots in
transition.
Apple Valley called a timeout with 3:43
left in the first half. The score was Apple Valley 21 and Eden Prarie
17.
Jones continued to run the Apple
Valley offense. He was able to get everyone involved in the offense.
At half time the score was Apple Valley
30 and Eden Prairie 22.
As the second half ot underway
At the first media timeout with 14:54
left in regulation the score was Apple Valley 35 and Eden Prairie 28.
Jones was able to come up with some
nice lay-ups in the second half.
There was a media timeout with 10:49
left in the game. The score was Apple Valley 41 and Eden Prairie 36.
Eden Prairie went on a 6-0 run midway
through the second half.
Jones seemed to twist his ankle with
7:51 left in regulation and stayed in the game.
There was a media timeout with 6:44
left in regulation Apple Valley 47 Eden Prairie 45.
The score remained close till the end
of the game.
Apple Valley continued to look sharp
down the stretch. Eden Prairie seemed to run out of steam late in the
contest.
Apple Valley came away with the
impressive 62-55 victory over Eden Prairie .
The leading scorers for Apple Valley
were Tyus Robert Jones with 23 points, Dennis Austin with 15 points,
and Dustin Fronk with 11 points.
The leading scorers for Eden Prairie
were Jack Cottrell with 15 points, Anthony Anderson with 11 points,
and Grant Shaeffer with 12 points.
This was a fun game to do because the atmosphere was great throughout the contest. Both teams gave it
there all throughout the game.
