THE WOLVERINES TOOK ON THE JAGUARS IN THE CLASS A STATE SEMIFINALS

The Mountain Lake/Butterflied-Odin Wolverines took on Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars in the class A State semifinal game. Mountain Lake came into the game with a record of 25-5 while BBE had a record of 31-0.

Belgrade got out to a quick 5-0 lead. They passed the ball around the three-point line to get in to their offense. Mountain Lake responds as quickly scoring baskets of their own.

Both of these teams looked focused and dialed into the game. The coaches were both focused.

At the first media timeout of the game with 14:56 left in the first half the score was Mountain Lake 7 and Belgrade 5.

BBE got the ball into the hands of Billy Borgerding who played an all-around good game.

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team gave up easy basket. BBE tried to trap the ball on the defensive end. They wanted to rattle the Mountain Lake players.

There were many lead changes and ties in the first half. Neither team gave up any easy baskets. I thought that both of these teams came into the game well prepared

There was a media timeout with 10:54 left in the first half. The score was Mountain Iron 14 and BBE 13.

Neither team gave up easy shots in the first half. They were able to get into their offensives sets despite the various defensive schemes thrown at them by their opponent.

There were many ties and lead changes in the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run in the first quarter.

BBE scored many of their points with transition baskets. The Jaguars need not seem to have the foot speed to get back on defense.

BBE's Brian Goodwin was all over the floor. He found his shot in the first half. He shot the ball mostly from inside the three-point line. Mountain Iron was not able to slow him down on the offensive end.

There was a media timeout with 3:55 left in the first half. The score was BBE 28 and MIB 24.

Both teams played with a lot of intensity in the first half. Neither team gave up any easy shots. It was a very physical game on both ends of the floor.

The score at halftime was BBE 36 and MIB 31. BBE shot 12-34 from the field that included going 3-11 from behind the three-point line. MIB shot 12-23 from the field. That included going 5-5 from behind the three-point line.

As the second half got underway both teams continued to pound the ball inside. For MIB Beau Herrig was all over the floor. He took good shots and got his teammates involved in the offense.

BBE continued to get shots at the basket. They also looked to spread the ball out and take time off the clock.

BBE came away with the 56-36 victory over MIB.
