Ibrahim Bashir Abukar who graduated in the spring of 2011 from St. Cloud Apollo High School has decided not to attend college in the fall.
In March of 2011 during the boys' state basketball tournament his 13-year-old sister Zam Zam had received a blood transfusion. She suffers from aplastic anemia, a blood disorder. Ibrahim had to make a difficult decision of playing in the state or helping his sister with a blood transfusion. He decided to go with the blood transfusion.
He has planned to attend college at Moorehead State University. According to the Bemidji Pioneer he will not be attending this season because he wants to be closer to his family and his sister in the St. Cloud, Minnesota area.
According to Tom Elliot from the St. Cloud Times, he has applied to St. Cloud Technical College and St. Cloud State and will attend either if he is accepted.
