MINNEAPOLIS EDISON WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 15, Minneapolis Edison and Minneapolis North squared off in a boys’ basketball game. Edison started the game in a zone defense. North started in a man-to-man.

Edison looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition.

North got everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and everyone called for the ball.

Edison’s Jermaine Cornell looked to shoot mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

North called a timeout with 14:29 left in the first half. The score was North 5, Edison 4.

Both teams looked to set the tempo and push the ball down the floor and take quick shots.

There were multiple ties and lead changes early.

North’s Eli Campbell and Omar Brown came up with steals and were able to turn the turnovers into layups on the offensive end. Campbell was also able to knock down 3-point shots.

The defensive pressure that North applied made it difficult for Edison to get an open look at the basket.

Edison started off hot but midway through the first half they struggled shooting the ball.

North’s Willie Wilson got his teammates involved in the offense. He knew where his teammates were on the floor. If Wilson thought, he had an open look at the basket he wasn’t afraid to shoot it.

North was able to come up with steals on the defensive end and turn them into layups on the offensive end.

Edison called a timeout with 8:12 left in the first half. The score was North 24, Edison 13.

Campbell continued to take and make mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half.

Edison’s Roosevelt Lett was their offensive power. Lett came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball where he could get good looks at the basket.

Edison made long full court passes but they were unsuccessful and that resulted in turnovers.

North called a timeout with 3:39 left in the first half. The score was North 41, Edison 28.

North continued to push the ball down the floor and make layups in transition.

Edison also got baskets late in the first half.

At halftime the score was North 51, Edison 36.

As the second half got underway North continued to push the ball down the floor and looked for layups in transition.

Lett continued to make mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

North was quicker than Edison was. Edison wasn’t afraid to shoot the ball even though they struggled to shoot the ball.

North’s Davon Townley Jr. and Campbell both came up with big shots late in the game.

Edison couldn’t keep up with North’s quickness. North stepped up and made shots down the stretch.

North called a timeout with 5:58 left in regulation. The score was North 89, Edison 52.

North continued to push the ball down the floor.

Both teams played hard throughout the game. North was able to come away with the 93-54 victory over Edison.
