MINNEHAHA ACADEMY WENT UP AGAINST LAKE CITY IN THE CLASS AA STATE SEMIFINAL BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

On March 22, Minnehaha Academy and Lake City squared up against each other in the boys’ basketball Class AA State Semifinal game. The game was played at the Target Center. Both teams had the same overall record of 27-2.

Lake City looked to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. They were patient on the offensive end.

Minnehaha looked to get the ball into the hands of Jalen Suggs and Siegel Howard. Minnehaha got on a roll as they strung together six points on layups off steals.

Lake City called a timeout with 14:18 left in the first half. The score was Minnehaha 9, Lake City 2.

Lake City’s Reid Gastner came up with some big shots midway through the first half.

Minnehaha kept attacking the basket and coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

There was a media timeout with 9:51 left in the first half. The score was Minnehaha 20, Lake City 8.

Minnehaha’s Chet Holmgren came up with rebounds on both ends of the floor.

Lake City’s Nathan Heise came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the first half.


There was a media timeout with 5:26 left in the first half. The score was Minnehaha Academy 35, Lake City 15.

Suggs took the ball hard to the basket as he came up with layups in transition.

There was a media timeout with 3:42 left in the first half. The score was Minnehaha 37, Lake City 17.

Both teams continued to move the ball down the floor and looked for transition baskets.

Gastner came up with huge 3-point baskets late in the first half.

At halftime the score was Minnehaha 43, Lake City 24.

As the second half got underway Lake City continued to look to score baskets. The defensive pressure that Minnehaha applied made it difficult for Lake City to get open looks at the basket.

There was a media timeout with 14:03 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 50, Lake City 30.

Minnehaha continued to move the ball well down the floor.

Lake City called a timeout with 12:54 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 56, Lake City 30.

Lake City continued to struggle to shoot the ball in the second half.

There was a media timeout with 10:03 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 62, Lake City 35.

Minnehaha kept on moving the ball down the floor.

There was a media timeout with 6:45 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 71, Lake City 45.

Chet Holmgren came up with slam dunks and layups late in the game.

Minnehaha was too quick for Lake City. Lake City had a tough time making shots.

There was a media timeout with 3:15 left in regulation. The score was Minnehaha 79, Lake City 48.

Lake City couldn’t make shots throughout the game. Minnehaha came away with the 82-52 victory over Lake City.


The leading scorers for Lake City were Reid Gastner with 21 points and Nathan Heise with 16 points.

The leading scorers for Minnehaha were Suggs with 24, and Chet Holmgren with 23 points.
