PIPERS FALL TO COBBERS

The Hamline University women’s basketball team had four players score in double-digits, but couldn't out score Concordia College – Moorhead, as they fell, 76-63.

Concordia started firing at the basket right after tip-off, jumping out to a six-point lead within the first five minutes, and held a lead as large as 14 points. The Pipers slowly started to work away at the advantage, narrowing it to an 11-point gap at halftime, 38-27.

The Cobbers kept the Pipers’ deficit in the low double-digits through most of the second half. Hamline would battle back several times in a row it to 10 points, but couldn't squeeze it any closer.

Mary Wilkowski (So., Savannah, Ga.) and Jessica Heinen (Sr., Spicer,Minn.) scored 12 points apiece to lead Hamline. Jackie Kelly (So.,Blaine, Minn.) and Britta Schwartzhoff (Sr., Hayward, Wis.) each tallied 10 points. Schwartzhoff also had eight assists.

The Cobbers were paced by Jenna Green’s (Dilworth, Minn.) game-high 23points. Lindsey Schultz (So., Hitterdal, Minn.) had 19, and JennaFreudenberg (Sr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) added 11.

With the conference loss, Hamline moves to 13-6, 10-6 MIAC. The Cobbers improved to 14-5, 13-3 MIAC. Hamline will play at home again on Wednesday, February 4, at 7:30 p.m. They will host the Bethel Royals in the second game of their season series.
