UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER RALPH SAMPSON III HAS BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR THE NBA DRAFT
University Of Minnesota men's basketball player Ralph Sampson has declared for the 2011 NBA draft.
He has not hired an agent so that means he can return to the Gophers if things don't work out.

MINNESOTA SOUTHSIDE TOOK ON MINNESOTA MAGIC IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL CONTEST
In the 17U division at the Minnesota Pump N Run tournament Minnesota Southside took on Minnesota
Magic. Southside started out the game in a man-to-man defense. They looked to put as much pressure
on the Magic as they could.

On the offensive end Southside looked to push the ball down the court as quickly as they could. They
used a motion offense. They passed the ball around the three-point line as they wanted to take as much
time off the clock as they could.

Southside had an easy time hitting shots. Most of their first half shots went in. Magic didn't get
frustrated as their shots were not falling. They kept putting them up.

At halftime the score was Minnesota Southside 35 and Minnesota Magic 22.

score on some nice fast break opportunities.

Latrell Diquan Love for Southside made some nice easy lay-ups. He was able to drive to the lane and

MINNESOTA FURY TOOK ON ECI PROPSPECTS IN A BOYS’ BASKETBAL GAME
Minnesota Fury took on ECI prospects in a boys’ basketball game. ECI got off to a quick start as they
gained a 6-3 advantage with 12:28 in the first half.
Minnesota Fury looked to get the ball into the hands of Andre Travaris McDonald. McDonald was all
over the court. On the offensive end he took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to find his shot and
shoot the ball in transition.
Minnesota Fury switched between man-to-man and zone defenses. That gave ECI some problem trying
to figure out how to guard them.
ECI looked to get the ball into the hands of Kelvin Mackey. Mackey did a good job of getting the ball
out of the net and getting it up the court. He knew where his teammates were on the court and was able
to direct them to where they were supposed to be.
ECI got everyone involved in the plays. They moved the ball around the three-point line well as they
tried to take as much time off the clock as they could.
Will Johnson for Fury got his teammates involved in the play. Fury used a lot of motion offense.
At halftime the score was Fury 36 and ECI 32.
McDonald lead the pack in the second half. He took a good charge and went after the ball.
The score went back and forth throughout as neither team was able to go on a run.
Tyler Moore for Fury knocked down some deep three-point shots.
Minnesota Fury came away with the 67-60 victory over ECI.
DAKOTA SCHOOLERS TOOK ON 43 HOOPS IN A 17U BOY'S BASKETBALL GAME
In the 17U division Dakota Schoolers and 43 Hoops squared off in the Minnesota Comets boy's
basketball showcase.
Dakota Schoolers started off the game hot as they were able to drrop shots. 43 Hoops didn't back down
as they were able to go on a run.
43 Hoops looked to get the ball into the hands of Marcus Marteze Marshall's hands. Marshall was all
over the court. He drove to to the basket and was able to hit a nice little jump shot.
Ben Isaiah Glover for 43 Hoops got his teammates involved in the plays. He would let them know where they
were supposed to be on the court at all times.
Marshall did a good job of running the court and getting open shots.
The score went back and forth in the first half.
At halftime the score Dakota Schoolers 33and 43 Hoops 32.
43 Hoops started out the second half in a man-to-man defense. They wanted to slow the Dakotab
Schoolers down as much as they could.
Marshall got knocked down hard to the ground and was very slow to get up. He did good job of
recovering and stayed in the game. Marshall gave his team vocal and emotional support that they
needed on the court.
Duke Anyanwu took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to hit a few nice lay ups.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half. There were many ties and lead changes.
Marshall had a few nice plays where he was able to take the ball all the way the length of the court and
score the basket.
Anyanwu had a nice one handed slam dunk in traffic. He was not afraid who was around him. He took
the ball strong to the basket no matter who was near the basket.
43 Hoops went to end the game. 43 Hoops came way with the 66-58 victory over Dakota Schoolers.
43 HOOPS TOOK ON NET GAIN IN THE 17U DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
43 Hoops took on Net Gain in the 17 and under division of the Minnesota Comets shootout. The game
got off to a quick start. As both teams looked to score at a quick pace.
The score went back and forth for a majority of the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run.
Net Gain looked to get the ball into the hands of Johnny Woodard. Woodard was all over the court as he
took the ball strong to the basket and then stepped up and slowed his defender down.
Woodard was able to get some nice slam dunks on a few open looks at the basket and he took the ball
hard to the rack.
43 Hoops went on a run with just under 6:00 to go.
With 4:56 in the first half the score was 43 Hoops 27 and Net Gain 19.
Marcus Marteze Marshall played well for 43 Hoops. He was all over the court making plays for this
team.
Net Gain didn't get discouraged they kept on shooting the ball.
At halftime the score was 43 Hoops 29 and Net Gain 28.
43 Hoops continued to shoot the ball well. No one was afraid to shoot it. The game remained tight
throughout the second half.
Marshall did a good job of taking the ball to the basket in the second half.
The game was tied at 40 with 9:30 to go.
Net Gain went on a run after the 9:30 mark. Their biggest lead was 8.
The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up.
Taylor Stafford for Net Gain made a shot at the buzzer to give Net Game the 60-59 victory.
IN THE 16 UNDER DIVISION MINNESOTA FURY TOOK ON THE MINNESOTA SELECT IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL CONTEST
In the 16u division of the Minnesota Comets boys’ basketball tournament Minnesota Select took on
Minnesota Fury.
Minnesota Fury started out the game in a zone defense. They looked to spread the Select team out on
offense.
Mike Bruce Fernando was able to get the Select team's offense in gear. He knew where his players
were supposed to be on the court and would let his players know where to be on the court.
Logan Donald Brown for Select took good shots. He was able to step up and knock down shots under
pressure.
Select used both a man-to-man defense and zone defenses in the first half. Select was able to slow
down the defense.
With 7:14 left in the first half the score was Select 17 and Fury 14.
Select went on a run with just under 7:00 left in the half. The Fury didn't go away though as they kept
on fighting and going after loose balls.
Select picked up at half court. They switched between zone defense and man-to-man.
Neither team went on a run in the first half.
At halftime the score was Fury 27 and Select 26.
Fury came out in man-to-man defense to open up the second half. Select also started out the second
half in man-to-man.
Fernando continued to take the ball hard to the basket. He also called for the ball on the low block.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Neither team went on a run. The defense
applied by each team was very tight.
Shawn Fitzgibbons for Select took the ball hard to the basket. He wasn't afraid to draw contact.
Select's Kebu Johson had a few nice moves to the basket. He has able to drive to the basket uncontested
and scored a few nice lay ups. If it was too congested inside the lane, Johnson settled for a jump shot
that he was able to hit on a regular basis.
Select went on a run and they were more confident in their shot as the game progressed.
With 3:45 left in regulation the score was Select 52 and Fury 44.
The game came down to the wire. Fury didn't give up. They kept on fighting to the end of the game. I
thought that both teams played hard and physical throughout the game.

MINNESOTA HEAT TOOK ON MINNESOTA COMETS IN THE COMETS SPRING SHOOT OUT
The Minnesota Heat took on the Comets in the Comets Spring Shootout. The Minnesota Heat were
coached by Mark MacDonald who is my uncle. Wibi MacDonald also is on the team he is the son of
Mark. Wibi is my cousin.
The Comets started out the game in a zone defense. Minnesota Heat were able to break the press. Benji
Subah took the ball down the court at a lightning quick pace.
The Heat looked to set a quick pace of the game. After the Comets scored they got the ball out of the
net and brought it quickly down the court.
The Comets had a hard time hitting shots. They passed the ball around the three-point line to take as
much time as they could.
Davaghndre Jones for the Heat took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to draw contact and get to
the free throw line.
The Comets attacked the basket on the offensive end. They were not afraid of the pressure that the
heat were applying.
The score went back and forth for a good period of time in the first half as neither team went on a run.
MacDonald dove hard to the basket and was able to make his shots that he was putting up. He did a
good job of calling for the ball in spots where he knew where he had a good shot.
At halftime the score was tied at 23.
Both teams did a good job of getting the ball down the court and looking to score in transition.
Antoino Mcghee-Hatfield took the ball hard to the basket for the Heat. He knew when to shoot the ball
and where he was on the floor.
The Comets went on run midway through the second half. The Heat had a hard time making their shots.
Jared Noonan for the Heat took the ball hard to the basket. Even though some times he was out of
control he still took it hard to the basket.
The Comets were too much for the Heat. In the end the Comets came away with the 60-44 victory over
the Heat.
THE 2011 AAU BOYS’ BASKETBALL SEASON GETS UNDERWAY
The 2011 summer AAU basketball season officially has gotten underway. Net Game Sports took on
Southwest Slam.
The game got out to a quick start as each team scored back-to-back baskets.
Southwest Slam used a zone defense. Net Game Sports also started out in a zone defense.
Net Game Sports looked to get the ball into the hands of Riley Dearring. Dearring was all over the
court on both ends. On the offensive end he was able to blow by his defenders.
Southwest Slam looked to get the ball into the hands of Andrew Swanson. He was able to let his
players know where they were supposed to be on the court.
Johnny Woodard was all over the glass. He was able to go after and get rebounds on both ends of the
floor.
Neither team went on a run in the first half.
The score at halftime was Net Game Sports 37 and Southwest Slam 34.
As the second half got underway Net Game Sports continued to attack the glass.
Net Game Sports went on a run. They were able to run right through the Southwest Slam defense.
Southwest Slam didn't back down. They kept on trying to attack the defense.
Net Game Sports came away with the 65-52 victory over Southwest Slam.
