BECKER WENT UP AGAINST MONTICELLO IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL SECTION GAME

On Feb. 27 Becker squared off against Monticello in a boys’ Section 5 Class 3A basketball game. 

The game was played at St. Cloud State.

It took a while for each team to get into a shooting rhythm.

Becker had a difficult time shooting to start the second half. They were not able to hit shots early.

Becker called a timeout with 13:24 left in the first half. The score was Monticello 11, Becker 1.


Monticello was able to score baskets in transition. Everyone on Monticello got the ball and they did a good job of communicating with everyone on the floor.

 Monticello’s Hunter Rosenbaum came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the first half. He knew where the defenders were and was able to get past them.

 Monticello called a timeout with 6:03 left in the first half. The score was Monticello 20, Becker 11.

Monticello continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.

At halftime the score was Monticello 31, Becker 17. 


As the second half got underway Monticello looked to get the ball into the hands of Hunter Rosenbaum and Matt Todd. They both were able to get to the basket and make mid-range jump shots and layups.

After a slow start by Becker, they were able to get their shots to drop in the second half.

Becker couldn’t get their offense going as they had trouble shooting the ball.

Todd came up with huge mid-range jump shots and 3-point shots in the second half.

Monticello called a timeout with 6:39 left in regulation. The score was Monticello 48, Becker 28.

Monticello continued to race down the floor and score baskets in transition.

Monticello came away with the 63-39 victory over Becker.

The leading scorer for Becker was Dillion Radunz with 12 points.

The leading scorers for Monticello were Todd with 22 points and Rosenbaum with 13 points.
