BRECK WENT UP AGAINST BLAKE IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 29 Breck and Blake squared off in a boys basketball game. Blake started the game in a zone defense. Breck passed the ball around the 3-point line.

 

Breck started the game in a zone defense. Both teams took a lot of time off the clock in the first half.

 

Breck’s Justin Bergerson called for the ball in the paint. He looked to make mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Blake was able to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Blake wasn’t afraid to shoot deep 3-point baskets.

 

Blake called a timeout with 14:01 left in the first half. The score was Breck 8, Blake 7.

 

Breck was able to make baskets in transition. Breck wasn’t afraid to push the ball down the floor in traffic and really attack Blake defense.

 

The pace of the game was quick. Neither team took a lot of time off the clock on the offensive end.

 

Blake did a good job of moving the ball and swinging it around the 3-point line.  

 

Breck’s Miles Olowu came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job on the offensive end of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Blake’s William Watkins Jr. came up with mid-range jump shots and 3-point baskets. He did a good job of coming off of picks.

 

Breck called a timeout with 8:05 left in the first half. The score was Breck 18, Blake 15.  

 

The score went back and forth in the first half. Neither team went on a huge run.

 

The Blake zone defense made it difficult for Breck to take open shots at the basket.

 

Blake called a timeout with 5:17 left in the first half. The score was tied at 22.

 

Blake ran a motion offense. They passed the ball around the 3-point line as they looked for a good shot.

 

Breck’s Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman took the ball hard to the basket and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He was also able to make his free throws.

 

Blake was able to score baskets in transition.

 

At halftime the score was Breck 34, Blake 30.

 

As the second half got underway Blake continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to make layups and mid-range jump shots.

 

Blake’s Jack Moe was all over the place on the offensive end. Moe dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds.

 

Breck called a timeout with 15:09 left in regulation. The score was tied at 34.

 

Breck came up with fast break layups.

 

Blake called a timeout with 13:22 left in regulation. The score was Breck 38, Blake 36.

 

Both teams kept attacking the basket and looked for their shots in the second half. Neither team went on a substantial run in the second half.

 

Watkins Jr. and Moe came up with deep 3-point shots to keep their team in the game.

 

Breck called a timeout with 11:24 left in regulation. The score was Blake 47, Breck 42.

 

The game was very physical on both ends of the floor.

 

Breck’s David Roddy came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. He wasn’t afraid to attack the basket or dribble through traffic.

 

Blake called a timeout with 8:03 left in regulation. The score was Blake 53, Breck 51.

 

Moe continued to attack the basket and came up with midrange jump shots and layups. If Moe didn’t think that he had a good shot, he wasn’t afraid pass it to his teammates.

 

Breck went to a motion offense, they set a lot of screens for each other and they passed the ball a lot in their offense.

 

The score went back and forth late in the game. There were many ties and lead changes.

 

Blake called a timeout with 1:19 left in regulation. The score was Breck 63, Blake 61.

 

Both teams took the ball hard to the basket after the timeout. Neither team gave up an easy shot.

 

Breck was able to make shots down the stretch. They were also able to come up with stops on their defensive end.

 

Breck came away with the 73-68 victory over Blake.

 

The leading scorers for Breck were Chiaokhiao-Bowman with 18 points and Bergerson with 14 points.

 

The leading scorers for Blake were Moe with 18 points and Watkins with 14 points.

MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 28, Minneapolis Washburn and Minneapolis Southwest squared off in a boys basketball game. The game restored the rivalry between the two programs. Going into the game Washburn had an overall record of 8-11. Southwest had an overall record of 4-15.

Southwest pushed the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition.

Washburn looked to get the ball into the hands of center Charlie Irmiger who was listed at 7-1.

Irmiger called for the ball on the low block. He looked to make layups.

Washburn called a timeout with 12:31 left in the first half. The score was Southwest 10, Washburn 2.

Southwest did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. Southwest’s Johnny Sykes came up with huge baskets.

Washburn’s head coach Jamin Cook received a technical foul for saying something to the official with 11:49 left in the first half.

The defensive pressure that Southwest applied made it difficult Washburn for Washburn to come up with open looks at the basket.
 

Southwest’s Brennan Hawkins came up with layups in the first half. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Washburn had a difficult time scoring in the first half.

 

Southwest called a timeout with 5:46 left in the first half. The score was Southwest 23, Washburn 14.

 

Washburn went to a zone defense. They wanted to make Southwest shoot 3-point shots.

 

At halftime the score was Southwest 37, Washburn 26.

 

As the second half got underway Southwest continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to make layups in transition.

 

Southwest called a timeout with 15:23 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 39, Washburn 28.

 

Southwest did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They talked to each other on both ends of the floor.

 

Washburn called a timeout with 12:28 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 49, Washburn 32.

 

Southwest kept pushing the ball down the floor and scoring baskets in transition.

 

Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds. The game became very physical in the second half.

 

Southwest called a timeout with 9:15 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 52, Washburn 45.

 

Southwest looked to take time off the clock by passing the ball around the 3-point line.

 

Washburn came up with steals on the defensive end and were able to turn them into layups on the offensive end.

 

Sykes continued to get to the basket and make layups.

 

Washburn’s head coach received his second technical foul with 5:59 left in regulation.

 

Hawkins received a technical foul for saying something to the official.

 

Southwest called a timeout with 5:13 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 62, Washburn 55.

 

Southwest continued to attack the basket and looked to get the ball into the hands of Sykes.

 

Washburn’s Isaac Lotz came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in the paint. Lotz was also able to knock down 3-point baskets.

 

Washburn called a timeout with 2:09 left in regulation. The score was Southwest 69, Washburn 61.

 

Washburn continued to push the ball down the floor came up with layups.

 

Both teams played with a lot of energy and passion. All the players from both teams played with a lot of passion and energy. The crowd was really into the game.

 

Southwest came away with the 79-77 victory over Washburn.

 

The leading scorers for Washburn were Lotz with 26 points and Irmiger with 17 points.

 

The leading scorers for Southwest were Skykes with 29 points and Ash Mkali with 16 points.

PARK CENTER WENT UP AGAINST OSSEO IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 26 Park Center and Osseo squared off in a boys' basketball game. Going into the game Park Center came into the game with an overall record of 12-6 and Osseo had an overall record of 18-0.

 

Osseo looked to set the tempo of the game early. Osseo started out guarding in the full court. They switched up between man-to-man and zone defense.

 

Osseo pushed the ball down the floor and got everyone involved in the offense. Osseo guard Allen Anderson brought the ball down the floor and shouted out plays that he wanted ran.

 

Park Center’s Osirus Washington got his team in an offensive pattern. He called out plays that he wanted ran.

 

Osseo’s Damario Armstrong came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Osseo called a timeout with 13:54 left in the first half. The score was tied at 12.

 

Park Center looked to come up with steals and turn them into layups on the offensive end.

 

The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.

 

Park Center called a timeout with 12:28 left in the first half. The score was Osseo 14, Park Center 13.

 

Osseo did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They passed the ball around to each other and communicated well on both ends of the floor.

 

Osseo’s Allen Anderson came off of picks and was able to come up with layups and mid-range jump shots on the offensive end. On the defensive end Anderson was able to slow down the guy he was guarding.

 

The defensive pressure that both teams applied made it difficult for each team to take uncontested shots.

 

Park Center’s Losini Kamara knocked down huge shots for his team. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Osseo picked up their defensive pressure in the full court. They wanted to make it difficult for Park Center to bring the ball down the floor.

 

Osseo’s Kameron Bettie attacked the basket and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. Multiple people guarded Bettie as they all tried to slow him down.

 

Park Center looked to score fast break layups in transition. Washington or Kamara would usually run the break.

 

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.

 

Both teams took the ball down the floor and scored baskets in transition.

 

Park Center called a timeout with 3:25 left in the first half. The score was tied at 33.

 

Osseo looked to trap the ball and come up with steals and looked to make layups off the turnovers.

 

Washington wasn’t afraid to drive to the basket and make layups. He was able to get past his defenders.

 

Park Center called a timeout with 44.2 seconds left in the first half. The score was Park Center 39, Osseo 38.

 

Osseo stepped up with defensive pressure as Park Center looked to attack the basket.

 

Theisen came up with a huge 3-point shot at the buzzer.

 

At halftime the score was Osseo 42, Park Center 39.

 

As the second half got underway Osseo continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition. Anderson got the offense going by making layups.

 

Park Center did a good job of getting the ball into the hands of Kamara and Washington. Both of whom stepped up and came up with big shots.

 

Osseo did a good job of communicating with each other on both ends of the floor. Osseo’s defensive pressure in the second half made it difficult for Park Center to get shots they were looking for in their offense.

 

Park Center called a timeout with 12:36 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 58, Park Center 47.

 

Osseo was much more relaxed on the floor in the second half. They were able to come up with steals and then come up with layups. Osseo was able to frustrate Park Center.

 

Park Center didn’t give up as they kept attacking the basket looking for their shots.

 

With 10:21 left in regulation Park Center’s head coach James Ware received a technical foul for arguing a call.

 

Osseo called a timeout with 9:44 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 67, Park Center 53.

 

Park Center battled back as they attacked the basket and looked to make layups and mid-range jump shots.

 

Osseo’s Martelius Hughes attacked the basket on the offensive end. He came up with layups late in the game. Teammate Theisen also came up with big shots in the second half.

 

Osseo called a timeout with 4:16 left in regulation. The score was Osseo 86, Park Center 67.

 

Osseo stepped up with offensive production in the second half. They were able to make shots that they put up on offense. On the defensive end they were able to get Park Center out of their offensive rhythm.

 

Osseo came away with the 97-75 victory over Park Center.

 

The leading scorers for Park Center was Losini Kamara with 27 points.

 

The leading scorers for Osseo were Theisen and Bettie each with 15 points.

WAYZATA WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS NORTH IN BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 25 Wayzata and Minneapolis North squared off against each other in a boys' basketball game.

 

Wayzata looked to set the tempo of the game early. Wayzata passed the ball around the 3-point line.

 

It took a while for North to get their offense going.

 

North called a timeout with 14:59 left in the first half. The score was Wayzata 10, North 2.

 

Wayzata came up with huge shots in the first half.

 

North’s Jamil Jackson came up layups and jump shots. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

Wayzata took a lot of time off the clock by swinging the ball around the 3-point line.

 

North’s Isaac Johnson came up with layups. As a team North came up with baskets in transition.

 

Wayzata’s Johnny Beeninga called a timeout with 4:09 left in the first half. The score was Wayzata 33, North 20.

 

Wayzata kept on shooting the ball and knocking down shots.   

 

North struggled to shoot the ball in the first half. At halftime the score was Wayzata 40 North 30.

 

As the second half got underway Wayzata continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to come up with layups.

 

North called a timeout with 14:39 left in regulation. The score was Wayzata 52, North 35.

 

Wayzata came up with fast break layups.

 

North’s Jamil Jackson came up with layups. North came up with fast break baskets.

 

Wayzata called a timeout with 10:46 left in regulation. The score was Wayzata 58, North 42.

 

North was able to get their offense going midway through the second half.

 

Wayzata was able to confuse North on the offensive end.

 

North called a timeout with 5:15 left in regulation. The score was Wayzata 70, North 57.

 

Wayzata was quicker than North was.

 

Wayzata’s Johnny Beeninga was all over the floor. He came up with huge baskets throughout the game.

 

Wayzata came away with the 85-60 victory over North.

MINNEAPOLIS NORTH WENT UP AGAINST RUSHFORD-PETERSON IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

On Jan. 23 Minneapolis North squared off against Rushford-Peterson in a boys' basketball game. The stands were packed at the time of tip-off.

 

North looked to push the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition. North passed the ball around the 3-point line looking to take time off the clock.

 

Rushford-Peterson started the game in a zone defense. That made North take a lot of time off the clock.

 

North’s ODell Wilson IV came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.

 

North looked to score layups in transition. They were a little quicker than Rushford-Peterson.

 

North called a timeout with 10:11 left in the first half. The score was North 14, Rushford -Peterson 6.

 

Rushford-Peterson looked to score layups coming off of picks. Rushford-Peterson looked to get the ball inside to Noah Dahl. Dahl looked to make mid-range jump shots.

 

North went to a full court press. They looked to turn Rushford-Peterson over.

 

At halftime the score was North 34, Rushford-Peterson 16.

 

North’s Patrick Dembley was all over the floor on the offensive end. He came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.

 

North’s JaQuan Sanders-Smith came up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half.

 

Rushford-Peterson struggled to shoot the ball throughout the second half.

 

North was quicker than Rushford-Peterson was. Rushford-Peterson struggled to shoot the ball throughout the game.

 

North called a timeout with 5:46 left in regulation. The score was North 52, Rushford-Peterson 37.

 

Rushford-Peterson couldn’t get their shots going throughout the game. They kept attacking the basket late in the game.

 

North came away with the 61-45 victory over Rushford-Peterson.
