PETTERS VS CULVERS

In the second game of the evening the Petters Group took on Culvers.

In the first quarter both teams played up tempo offense. Petters’ Damian Johnson went to the basket with authority several times and pleased the crowd with a couple of athletic slam dunks. It is obvious this is an elimination game.
Damian’s sidekick, Devron Bostick who has nice range on his jump shot dialed in from long range and all so finished on some very aggressive trips to the basket.

For much of the first half both teams traded baskets in a very fast paced game. Paris Kyles of Culvers picked up his team with his defense and scoring and the first half ended with Culvers leading 47-40.

In the second half, Devron Bostick started to take over the game. He finished a variety of shots from long range jumpers to baby hook shots in the paint and he also played in your face defense. This young man will look very good in a Gopher uniform. At this point he is the best overall player on the floor.

Damian hit a buzzer beater to end the third quarter and Petters made a 14-point swing in the quarter and led by seven, 62-55 after trailing by the same amount at the half.

The fourth quarter was an outright war with Petters escaping with an 83-82 victory. Either team could have won this very evenly matched game.
The stars of the game for Petters were Damian Johnson who finished with 28 points and Devron Bostick with 18 and for Culvers Calvin Walls tallied 26 points and Paris Kyles 20.

Steven,
Very good write-up on this game. I could "see" DJ with the crowd-pleasing dunks - I could even "see" the crowd!
Keep working hard at getting more descriptive. I could tell you were a little more patient - letting the game come to you! Oh by the way, have you seen Jonathan Williams play this summer? We thought this Gopher would be playing in the RP league.

Thanks again,
