THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA HAS LANDED BASKETBALL PLAYER ALEX FOSTER

Chicago basketball player Alex Foster has verbally committed to the University of Minnesota. Foster will graduate from Seton Academy in South Holland, IL in the spring of 2013.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “The Gophers knocked a second recruit off their wish list Saturday, getting a verbal commitment from Chicago recruit Alex Foster around 5 p.m.

Foster, who is a former teammate of the other 2013 Gopher recruit, Alvin Ellis, announced on his Twitter account that he would be joining the University of Minnesota next year.

"Its official I’m a Golden Gopher!" he tweeted.

Foster has plenty of potential, and at 6-8, 200 pounds, a good frame to grow into. He still needs to get tougher in the paint. He could play at small forward or power forward, depending on how the Gophers decide to use him.

The Gophers are seeking one more forward along with Foster to help them replace Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams after they graduate. Still on the wish list is Gavin Schilling, another former teammate of Foster and Ellis' at Chicago's DeLaSalle. Foster currently goes to Seton Academy while Schilling attends Findlay Prep in Nevada.”
