GEORGIA SOUTHERN WENT UP AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA IN A FOOTBALL GAME

On Sept. 14, Georgia Southern and the University of Minnesota went up against each other in a football game. Going into the game Georgia Southern had a record of 1-1 while Minnesota was 2-0.

Minnesota kicked off to Georgia Southern to start the game. Georgia Southern go the ball on the 25-yard line as the ball went into the end zone. Georgia Southern kept the ball on the ground on their first drive. Georgia Southern punted on 4th-and-12.

Minnesota took over on their own 41-yard line. Minnesota’s quarterback Tanner Morgan looked to air the ball out on their first series. Minnesota was intercepted by Georgia Southern's Kendrick Duncan Jr. who came up with a 37-yard reception.

Logan Wright came up with a 21-yard touchdown run. Tyler Bass attempted the extra point attempt, which was good.

With 12:25 left in the first quarter the score was Georgia Southern 7, Minnesota 0.

Minnesota took over on their own 25-yard line. Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson came up with 73-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 11:37 left in the first quarter the score was tied at 7.

The kickoff went into the end zone and Georgia Southern took over on their own 25-yard line. Georgia Southern moved the ball down the field quickly as they looked to score another touchdown. Justin Tomlin came up with huge runs for Georgia Southern for first downs. Georgia Southern kept the ball in Tomlin’s hands as they looked to get into the end zone.

Georgia Southern called a timeout with 6:36 left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 7.

Tomlin looked to get into the end zone, but the Gopher defense stopped him. Georgia Southern attempted 25-yard field goal which was good.

With 5:57 left in the first quarter the score was Georgia Southern 10, Minnesota 7.

Minnesota took over on their own 25-yard line. Minnesota’s Rodney Smith came up with long rushes that moved the ball down the field. Smith did a good job of getting around the Georgia Southern defense.

Minnesota called a timeout with 19 seconds left in the first quarter. The score was Georgia Southern 10, Minnesota 7.

Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson came up with a 7-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 14 seconds left in the first quarter the score was Minnesota 14, Georgia Southern 10.

Georgia Southern took over and looked to move the ball down the field late in the quarter.

After one quarter of play the score was Minnesota 14, Georgia Southern 10.

Georgia Southern punted on 4th-and-4.

Minnesota took over on their own 25-yard line. Minnesota’s Tyler Johnson continued to come up with nice plays.

Minnesota used both the running and passing attack in the second quarter. They were able to get past the defense. Minnesota punted on 4th-and-20.

Georgia Southern fumbled the ball and Minnesota took over. Williams came up with a 14-yard first down. Minnesota’s Seth Green came up with a 4-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 7:07 left in the second quarter the score was Minnesota 21, Georgia Southern 10.

Georgia Southern kept the ball on the ground as they looked to get into the end zone late in the second quarter.

Georgia Southern attempted a 45-yard field goal attempt by Tyler Bass was good.

With 3:26 left in the second quarter the score was Minnesota 26, Georgia Southern 13.

Minnesota took over on their own 25-yard line. Minnesota looked to get the ball down the field quickly. The Georgia Southern defense stepped up and stopped Minnesota and turned them over on downs.

Georgia Southern’s Justin Tomlin came up with a 12-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 27 seconds left in the second quarter the score was Minnesota 21, Georgia Southern 20.

Minnesota got the ball on their own 25-yard line. Then they the clock run out to end the second quarter.

At halftime the score was Minnesota 21, Georgia Southern 20.

Georgia Southern kicked off to start the third quarter. Minnesota started on their own 13-yard line. Minnesota’s Cam Wiley looked to bring the ball down the field, but the Georgia Southern defense slowed him down. Even with the pressure that Georgia Southern put up Minnesota was still able to move the ball down field. Minnesota’s Morgan was able to move on his feet and run for a 17-yard run for a first down. The defensive pressure got to Minnesota as Connor Morgan was sacked. Minnesota punted on 4th-and-19.

The ball went into the end zone for a touch back.

Georgia Southern kept on moving the ball down the field as they kept the ball on the ground. The Gopher defense stepped up and was able to get to the quarterback. On 4th-and-16 Georgia Southern punted the ball.

Minnesota took over on the Georgia Southern 49-yard line. Morgan came up with a nice pass to Chris Autman-Bell for a first down. Morgan found more running room for a 6-yard run.

Minnesota called a timeout with 20 seconds left in the third quarter. The score was Minnesota 21, Georgia Southern 20.

After three quarters of play the score was Minnesota 21, Georgia Southern 20.

Minnesota found the end zone on a Bryce Williams 2-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 14:43 left in the fourth quarter was Minnesota 28, Georgia Southern 20.

Georgia Southern got the ball back on their own 26-yard line. Georgia Southern tried to move the ball down the field but were not able to get a first down. Georgia Southern punted on 4th-and-14.

Minnesota took over on their own 24-yard line. Minnesota moved the ball down the field once again. But were stopped on 4th-and-18 and they punted the ball.

Georgia State fumbled the ball and Minnesota took over. Minnesota took over on the Georgia Southern 26-yard line. Johnson came up with some tough catches. Minnesota attempted a 36-yard field goal attempt and it was blocked and Georgia Southern recovered and Monquavion Brinson game up with a 76-yard blocked field goal touchdown run. The two-point pass attempt was no good.

With 6:05 left in the fourth quarter the score was Minnesota 28, Georgia Southern 26.

Minnesota looked to take the ball down field.

Georgia Southern called a timeout with 3:57 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Minnesota 28, Georgia Southern 26.

Georgia Southern’s Rashad Byrd came up with a 44-yard touchdown reception. The two-point conversion attempt was no good.

With 3:47 left in the fourth quarter the score was Georgia Southern 32, Minnesota 28.

Minnesota took over on their own 25-yard line. The Georgia Southern defense came up big as they slowed down the Minnesota offense.

Minnesota got a look of urgency as they looked to move the ball down the field. Minnesota did this that as Erik Gibson came up with a first down reception.

Georgia Southern called a timeout with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Georgia Southern 32, Minnesota 28.

Minnesota’s Rashod Bateman came up with a 28-yard first down reception. Johnson came up with another 10-yard reception for a first down. Johnson came up with a 2-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter the score was Minnesota 35, Georgia Southern 32. That was the final of the game.

Both teams played well throughout the game. Neither team gave up easy plays. Minnesota’s Johnson played well throughout the game. He came up with big receptions and was able to get into the end zone. Johnson also came up with three touchdowns.  

Minnesota came away with the 35-32 victory over Georgia Southern.

Minnesota’s Johnson came away with 3 receiving touchdowns and finished with 140 yards and his longest catch was for 73 yards.
