In the second game on July 30, Errol Carlstrom Playaz went up against the Pat Madison in the Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League.
Both teams came out swigging as they each pushed the ball down the floor looking for shots and not taking a lot of time off the shot clock.
Both teams exchanged baskets in the opening minutes of the contest. It took a while for each team get used to each other.
Tony Tate of Pat Madison took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to get through traffic and make contested difficult shots. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.
There were many ties and lead changes throughout the first quarter. Neither team gave up easy basket.
Troy Bell got into the game late in the first quarter for Pat Madison Magic. He was all over the floor on both ends of the court.
After a quarter of play the score was Errol Carlstrom Playaz 25, Pat Madison 20.
The score went back and forth throughout the second quarter. Neither team gave up easy shots.
Bell got a technical foul for arguing a call.
Pat Madison continued to attack the basket and looked for their shots.
Tyler Cain for Errol Carlstrom Playaz was all over the floor. He was able to get his shot to fall. Cain was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.
Pat Madison strung some baskets together late in the second quarter.
At halftime the score was Errol Carlstrom Playaz 49, Pat Madison 43.
The third quarter got off to a quick start as both teams rushed back and forth shooting shots.
Pat Madison got into a shooting slump in the third quarter. They were not able to make shots that they put up.
The Pat Madison players became frustrated because they could not hit shots that they put up. They didn’t give up however as they kept on shooting the ball.
Pat Madison looked to get fast break baskets as they settled for lay-ups. If they had an open jump shot they wouldn’t be afraid to shoot it. They were able to get within 4 points with 4:00 left in the third quarter.
The game was intense. Pat Madison clawed back and was competitive throughout the second half of the contest.
At the end of three quarters of play the score was Errol Carlstrom Playaz 79, Pat Madison 72.
Bell and Teddy Archer for Errol Carlstrom both got ejected for arguing calls at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
After everything calmed down we were back to playing basketball.
Pat Madison was not able to get the lead in the fourth quarter.
Errol Carlstrom came away with the 111-97 victory over Pat Madison.
