SUTHERLAND RAIDERS TOOK ON MILLER TIME IN THE HOWARD PULLEY PRO CITY SUMMER LEAGUE

On Aug. 1 the crowd at the High Performance Center was big as basketball fans flocked to watch the Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League basketball game. The Sutherland Raiders took on Miller Time.
 
Both teams came out and played with a lot of passion, energy and emotion. Sutherland got out to a quick start as they got out to an 11-5 start in the first four minutes of the game.
 
Rodney Williams of Miller Time came up with some nice jump shots and tip-in rebounds on the offensive end. Williams came up with some amazing slam dunks.
 
Miller Time attacked the glass and was able to get to the basket and was able to come up with some good shots.  
 
After one quarter of play the score was Sutherland Raiders 29, Miller Time 23.
 
Paris Kyles came up with some nice plays for Sutherland Raiders. He lead the charge on the offensive end for his team as he pushed the ball down the floor and was able to get the ball to his teammates in spots where they could shoot the ball.
 
Sutherland came out on fire in the second quarter, as they were able to take a 10 point lead with 7:20 left in the second quarter.
 
Miller Time didn’t give up however as they kept attacking the basket looking for their shot.
 
Royce White of Miller Time called for the ball on the low block. He was able to get to the free throw line and make his free throws.
 
The Raiders went on a run and had a 53-36 lead with 4:04 left in the second quarter.
 
Trevor Mbakwe came up with some big slam dunks in the first half. His teammates did a good job of knowing where he was on the floor as he called for the ball when he was close to the basket.
 
Kyles continued to come up with some good plays late in the second quarter.
 
The score at halftime was Sutherland Raiders 66, Miller Time 49.
 
The third quarter got off to a flying start as White found Williams for many alley-oop slam dunks  as the crowd went wild. Those two had good communication.
 
Miller Time kept attacking the basket and was successful shooting the ball as they looked to cut the deficit.
 
DeAndre Townsend kept on hitting shots as he flew to the floor as the defenders were trying to block his shot.
 
White was able to hit shots from both inside and outside the three-point line.
 
At the end of the third quarter the score was Sutherland Raiders 93, Miller Time 83.
 
As the fourth quarter got underway the intensity shot up about four notches as both teams kept their composer as the energy was still alive in the building.
 
Sutherland Raiders continued to hit shots with ease in the fourth quarter.
 
White got his second technical foul with just over a minute of play left and he was ejected from the game.
 
Sutherland Raiders came away with the 123-112 victory over Miller Time.
 
The leading scorers for Sutherland Raiders were Damien Johnson with 19 points, DeAndre Townsend 18 and Wil Grahm 24.
 
The leading scorers for Miller Time Quinton Hooker with 12 points, Syiani Chambers 15, Kenny Olasfeo with 16 points, Rodney Williams with 26 points.
 
The game was a good game throughout. Both teams had a good time and played hard throughout the contest.
 
With that victory the Sutherland Raiders are the 2013 Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League champions.
